Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“If you get tangled up, just tango on.” - Al Pacino

Coastal blankets above anticipating the burn off with the mercury rise. Pick up trucks masquerade as delivery semi-trucks bringing the goods to town. Unpacking treasures in large boxes, feeling the burn left and right. While the cats away the mice will play with box cutters and rope tie downs. Taking a break walking to shore, calm and serenity now. Empty spaces fill the void of familiar morning patterns. Left and right, vast and open, sandy bottoms all around.

CHANNEL: NW swell lapping shore in a glassy state. Ankle bitters rolling in at a snails pace in Channel proper with three SUP’s gliding across. Currently prone positioned paddlers search elsewhere for rides and slides. A tides shift back to shore this afternoon, rides may be had with the longest sled and strongest arms.

PATCH: Take me down, take me down to the water, take my hand, learn me all I should know. Here I am, I’m waiting for you, just give me a sign, please don’t fail me now.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” - Aesop

Wildflowers pink and purple bursting in bloom signaling Spring is in the air. Sun kissed country side glowing in yellow and orange as the rising sun is here to play. Warm on the outside, starting at 57 and climbing high to 72. Flip flops are the chosen protection, leaving jackets hung in the closet and packing high SPF in pockets. No wind nor breeze can be felt while tides ebb and flow. Any swell is but a faded memory, for the ocean is calm and still. From atop the sea wall we sit and wait basking in the sun.

CHANNEL: NW swell at a stand still with low tide. No wave formations of any size to read coming in on the horizon and no ocean current to speak of. Two simmers splash and squeal, while lazy seals float nearby warming their bellies. While there may be no surf as of yet today, imagine the endless possibilities on this perfect beach day.

PATCH: What you don’t have, you don’t need it now. What you don’t know, you can feel it somehow. What you don’t have, you don’t need it now, need it now. It’s a beautiful day!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful - an endless prospect of magic and wonder.” - Ansel Adams

Morning yellow amber rays wash out fogginess and grogginess from leftover chocolate hangovers. Blue skies far reaching, meeting the ocean on the horizon without a trace of cloud. Flocks of feathers gather together, snacking on sardine breakfast treats covering the surface like a warm blanket. 4/22/2019, a special day, one in which we honor the O.G. Matriarch, Mother Earth. Let us give thanks, give love and take care of her, as she does for all of us, every single day. Happy Earth Day!

CHANNEL: Fishermen standing on shore while controlling miniature remote surf figures catching big toe surf barrels. No swell to report anywhere, nor any forward ocean motion movement. What remains, is a vast warm sandy beach with man’s best friends running in delight and barefoot friends casually strolling behind. A stunningly beautiful day!

egg.jpg

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The power of imagination makes us infinite.” - John Muir

Shadow creatures grow in length while the golden egg rises high above the trees, highlighting zig-zag bunny trails below. Cold temps kick-off Easter Sunday at 45 climbing to 65 by mid-day. Zephyr blasts from yesterday are all but a floating memory as calm and stillness have settled in. Early morning soul searchers on the prowl for parking trying their best to squeeze a session in, in-preparation for later brunching celebrations. Hopping down the bunny trail, where the land meets the sea and through the gates we go.

CHANNEL: Super slow action ocean motion bobbing from right to left. No shape, no size, nor push as water levels are currently at their lowest. NW swell readings are small throughout the day leaving little to the imagination. Shin to ankle on the sets is where its at. With a little faith and the longest sled, a ride or two may be had with tired arms.

PATCH: Easter hunters searching for the golden egg have gone to look elsewhere. Leaving no stone un-turned, most have left to forage for bacon and hash-browns before filling up on chocolate bunny ears.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“I cannot be grasped in the here and now, for my dwelling place is as much among the dead, as the yet unborn, slightly closer to the heart of creation than usual, but still not close enough.” - Paul Klee’s Tombstone

Coastal exhale burned off. Bus crew bonds deepened in a shared hunger for more hell and higher waters. SSW fading, faded, and no longer self assured. The visiting in-house out-of-town wind monitor tells of whitecap-whipping W winds at 10KTS via visual clockage. Seen better. Happy hopefuls approaching the seawall serve as living proof that beauty is in the eye of the eager, for now. Cognizant of the low, the well-seasoned stokesperson patiently waits for the high to arrive.

CHANNEL: Ahead of tidal push, a single fledgling humanoid unaware of role as Exhibit A demonstrates coastal test Q-2x210: “Dilineation Annihilation.” Sand in scalp, salt in sinuses, person and sea are one in ugly washing machine churn.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Believe only half of what you see and nothing that you hear.” - Edgar Allan Poe

Finer mists and dissolving fog as we kick into weekender action mode. The sun does not currently shine down but should soon appear and light NE winds will clear and warm the air. Temp stands firmly at 57F to initiate the morning. Continued small but longer period swells find purchase on the higher tides. The bus brigade lines the streets while mobile locals remain tucked snuggly inside. Morning low tide has more sand than sea available for action and early disappointments abound if you were in the water last night under the beams of the moon.

CHANNEL: Early lines are of the fisherman casts bobbing aimlessly in the micro climate known as the Channel. Little shapes and even less push as tides go to zero and then below. A mixed plate of offerings may be available later upon the tidal push that extends into the PM hours. Expect less than 5 star service and enraged Yelp reviews of the slides on the menu.

PATCH: The grey distance reveals incomplete shapes while closer to shore smaller options exist along with a full fledged rock spectrum. Be mindful of fin and foot if you choose this locality. As morning becomes afternoon one may see a distinct level of clarity and conditions solidifying and rounding into finer form.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“To know each other we must reach beyond the sphere of our sense perceptions.” - Nikola Tesla

A determined fog has encamped but quickly yields to warming airs. Temp reigns at 56F and the winds are slack with E tendencies later. Most making their way to the shore remain in a fugue state as they exit from dreams. Low tides revealing more rock and yards upon yards of beach rather than expected dazzle. An incoming tide should lend some clarity and this is a day that will only be what you make of it. Gifts may given and only the steadfast and determined need apply.

CHANNEL: An exposed Groin pole sits in wet sand as a beacon to early futility. Gulls feast and fly in search of breakfast morsels. The Channel bar has been revitalized but requires more water to entertain hungry sliders. Reality checks are in your future, so tread lightly and regulate your emotions.

PATCH: An early low shows who is the boss and vacates the premises of all water. Stone and slag are not your friend and will seek to spoil the stoke. While there is a SW swell upon the seas it will take time to navigate the necessary entrance obstacles and prevail itself within the Patch.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

A fine mix of mist and bright rays as we great another day in the seaside village. Temps do dip and start their climb upwards from an initial 47F. Most signs pointing W where the swells are being generated by windswept seas. The majority of efforts are being made by those that stand tall and carry the paddle. Early tide filling in to a robust high and giving a bit of push to help the cause. The breezes remain calm and the mid-day ritual may yield a dose more stoke to the day.

CHANNEL: Incoming tide and approaching breakers require contemplation and evaluation. The filling basin will soon have too much liquid to allow form or function to the froth. Unless you are of the prime hour sliding crew, take heed until they begin to recede, then revisit your plan of attack.

PATCH: Camel hump tide swings an appropriate Wednesday phenomena. SUP tribe in force trying to battle too much of one and not enough of another. Low level NW windswells attempting to forge shapes worthy of slides but the resistance is strong though the masses are willing.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.” - Martin Buber

Golden kissed treetops glow as the sun rises announcing morning salutations below. Damps streets start to dry with temps beginning at 45. Morning walkers sporting sunglasses as an alternative to the rain jackets and galoshes of yesterday. Blue ceilings hang high without a trace of cloud and birds float in unison. Happy dogs walking their owners, pull playfully through the gates to the sea anticipating fetching games. Out yonder, ocean motion reflects prism rainbow colors before reaching shore.

CHANNEL: Bright blazing sun reflecting yellow and orange on blue water. WNW swell feeling mellow with high tide as too much water fills the Channel for anything to break currently. Lines appear only to fade as they reach to shore. As the tide turns, shapes and size in the knee range are promising. For now sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

PATCH: Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink. Glassy and calm on the high surface leaving rocks below camouflaged in blue. In due time, rocks will appear and all will be revealed. Look to your knees for guidance.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets.” - Leonardo da Vinci

School bus pick ups resume regularly scheduled programs as Spring Break has sprung. Back to the early morning grind, commuters in all forms yawn in the face of coffee gathering wherewithal. Calm, gray horizons are short term happenings as rain is forecast early afternoon. Cold at 46 with an invisible chill that can be felt deep within. Parking is plenty as tides are receding and most have checklist to-do’s. Those swimming against the current will find a merriment in the solitude.

CHANNEL: Hazy gray overcast keeping sunlight at bay with ruffled texture on the ocean surface. WNW swell directionally challenged missing the mark to point break. Crumbly on the sets in Channel proper with size pointing to the knee with more white water than not. If the thirst is real, a drink may be had with a lot of extra effort.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Patience is the companion of wisdom.” - Saint Augustine

Dawn light breaks through gray patterned curtains leaving patchy shadows below. Easy breeze floating by with a bite of chill at the end. Raw at 45 with temps maxing out at a 59 high. Parking spots filled with the usual dawn patrol suspects already changing out to start the day. Tidal shifts swing low for most of the day leaving the window of opportunity open a crack of how soon is now.

CHANNEL: Crystalized sand as far as the eye can see as ocean water laps back towards the horizon. A calm sense of slow motion as waves in the shin height fight their way towards land. W swell taking a break this morning as the tide turns to negative mid-afternoon. A tall order of long sleds are a necessity for the salty goodness you seek.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Don’t find fault, find a remedy.” - Henry Ford

Residual chill as the early morning fog is now but a memory. Overcast remains but the sun’s rays seek to penetrate and warm the air while the early temps hover at 52F. Winds seem swirling and confused causing much consternation among the sliding nation in their pursuit of stoke. All ocean energies are focused from the W with a decrease in powers as the swells slacken. Shapes of note are few and far between and the tide continues to deteriorate through the lunch hour. Afternoon enhancement may be found when the waters return and if the zephyrs calm.

CHANNEL: Directly out front a presentation of forms heading towards shore will greet you, though a more careful observation shows rollers of questionable constitution. A bit further outside seems to hold shape the longest in comparison to other lesser species. Tide dropping will shift parameters in the near future and the entirety of the area will benefit from more water and less wind until they don’t.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Because you are alive, everything is possible.” - Nhat Hanh

The clearest of skies with mercury on the rise as NE winds blow steadily and carry warming airs. While we survey the end of the week many are starting to post up and settle in for some spring sunshine enjoyment and whatever slides may be proffered. Again our early experience is one of depletion as the tide withdraws from its original high. Early or late hours must be heeded if one is to sample the NW windswell apparitions in their best light.

CHANNEL: A joyful duo sits directly out front of the boat ramp edifice, and making due with consistent inconsistency. Shapes appear as often as not and with less volume below the rides range from mere moments to measurable yards with plenty of time to reflect in-between. Watch for more tide during the PM hours to benefit the seekers and sliders, but reign in your expectations.

PATCH: Unengaged at first light though a SUP tribe eyes it steadily. Not a single logger has unsheathed their steed and that fact alone should speak volumes. Observed shapes will come with the later hours of the day and additional salt water application. Quality may be of the second hand variety and lack the power desired. The biggest of boards and a stern resolve may override all impediments to stoke.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.” - James A. Garfield

Rarefied air blowing heartily from the NE has us warm at 54F. Swirling particles require shielded eyes and looking up initially reveals only grey. Parking is unlimited and the village is still and quiet while the tide continues its retreat to the negative. Swell dropping off but still in the interesting range. Unable to produce any early results due to water volumes, but there is promise warranted for the positive tidal hours of the day.

CHANNEL: Surf casters set up shop and own the morning real estate. Sliders stare into the abyss of the sea with yearnings unrequited. The ocean yields shapes begrudgingly while the tide in not on our side this morning. The realm of opportunity lies in the early afternoon hours if the zephyrs calm and cooperate. The meager NW swell will do what it can to maintain the stoke ignited last night.

PATCH: The Patch sits alone with its thoughts as not enough salty blue to illuminate shapes of interest. Not even the brethren with paddles are braving the elements as the sea offers them no slides. Be mindful of the tides as they are your friend, but the wind is your enemy and may sneak up and scuttle even the most well planned stoke seeking excursions.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.” - Aristotle

Cool and easy though slightly breezy and the temp dips a degree to 49F. NE cycle clearing out the skies as we settle into a more favorable pattern of weather. The mercury will surely rise and no clouds above to deter the sun’s beams which feel as if a renewal or at least a future promise. A dedicated troop brave the early waters, as the weather is ideal but the low tide conditions are less than. Swell apparatus is in place for slides but currently robbed of power and working space by the lower waters.

CHANNEL: On this finest of mornings we must scour the vista to find breakers worthy of exploration. Corners existing in the deeper pockets of water that remains. Quiet lefts and rights may be enjoyed for rides of moderate length as they cast shadows only to one’s knees. The final receding of the tide is upon us and opportunity should present itself further in the afternoon hours.

PATCH: Vacancy unlimited with space equally defined by rock and sand. The morning lows have scuttled most plans but the knowledgeable logger should locate inside forms along the sandy bottoms. Shapes appear though of a temperate manner and stone navigation may be required. If attempted slides are on your morning agenda do so with a watchful eye on your surroundings.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” - Confucius

Crystal clear blue sky above, as her majesty the sun rises brilliantly casting warmth on her disciples below. A strong breezy for now with trees swaying in modern dance formations. Base level temperature at 50 with rumors of 61 by afternoon. Tidal shifts swing at a slow pace with plenty of sand throughout the day. Locate the perfect spot to set roots and bask in natures glory.

CHANNEL: Wind ruffles the feathers of ocean motion rolling forward to shore. W swell gone for now leaving micro wave formations in the big toe over ankle height. No energy or hurry can be felt or seen leaving the Channel and out front of the ramp resembling more of a lake than an ocean. No one currently out as most as taking a wait and see approach.

PATCH: Far out meeting rock standing tall and being used as a platform for chatty seagulls looking for treasures. Far beyond out to sea, tiny lines form and tease those who are looking for slides. As fast as they appear, poof they are only but a memory.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Let us be grafeful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” - Marcel Proust

Soupy gray hanging low, thick and dewy, while misty droplets coat objects below. Slick terrain helps with the tire hiss, announcing when cars are coming or going. Parking spaces resembling a game of chess for those who want a spot. Spring break has arrived and so have the masses. Excited chatter and happy vibes all around for most are stoked to be out on a Monday.

CHANNEL: Smoke on the water played on repeat as fog is blocking the view. W swell coming in consistent with better shape in the knee to thigh range. Out front of the ramp has more energy and size, though beware of the close out ending. Channel proper has some form though swell angles are not quite working. Pick a board of your choice and join the group.

PATCH: Rocky patterns outline the trail of where happiness can be found. No need to leave bread crumbs to find your way back, as ocean tides will do that for you. With an extra paddle, faith and a double heel click, enlightenment can be had.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Don’t be in such a hurry.” - Billie Holiday

Dense thick fog mixed with intermittent rain and an added splash of breeze rounds out the sunless recipe for the day. Chill humidity as temperatures are stuck at 55 and most have a case of indecisiveness for outdoor activity. A fork in the mental road on which direction to choose. Trust your gut to decide which type of onesie you choose.

CHANNEL: Post storm surf in full effect and leaving nothing to the imagination. What you see is what you get in the form of close out white water soup in the knee height. Nothing happening in the Channel and most are turning to the mixed up, mashed up mess out front of the boat ramp. If consistency is what you seek, look elsewhere.

PATCH: An army of stand up paddlers trying hard to stay vertical as ocean motion has other plans in store for them. Rocky and barren, the ocean desert is hosting mirages for those who are hopeful. Best to join the boat ramp gang to hedge your bets.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Never mistake motion for action.” - Ernest Hemingway

Persistent rain falls again and roundly whipped by swirling winds. Shades of grey in all directions with a temperate 55F degrees and holding. The ON again OFF again switch gets randomly flicked. Reluctant acceptance of what the immediate future holds takes shape and settles into everyone’s consciousness. Find inner peace this day as the sea provides an inhospitable environment.

CHANNEL: Slow, low and no love below. Lower tide is doing no favors, and water additions unlikely to provide more stoke. The vectors are bringing only confusion with cross winds seeking to destroy all whitecaps that can be found. Better left alone or avoided all together.

PATCH: Won’t ever do that again. Don’t wanna do that again. Won’t ever do that again. Don’t wanna do that again.
