Daily Surf Report - 2/25/2011

Early morning rain showers have given way to clear blue skies, moderate offshore winds and a current temp of 46F. Not cold enough for the predicted snow but maybe this weekend! Storm has kicked up some ocean activity and it looks like the potential to clean up and become a surf day is there.

Channel/Groin: Waves are breaking in 2' range with lefts on the sandbars. Still a bit churned up but there are a few pieces of surf to ride.

Patch: Pieces and parts but occasional waves in the knee to thigh high size come through. Longboards will catch waves here today.

Boat Ramp: A few waves coming through straight on that have push and potential. 1 shortboarder is there catching waves and getting a few rides.

All spots could improve with the incoming tide.

Intermittent light rain that has currently stopped. Light winds and very small surf. Swell in the buoys but not showing here at this time. Good day to paddle, swim, hike or ride a mountain bike.

Channel/Groin: Waves are breaking in the triple over ankle to knee high range. Bring your biggest board and be ready to paddle hard to catch waves.

Patch: There is not much going on in the Patch this morning. Currently flat but great SUP conditions.
Both spots could improve with the incoming tide.

Happy President's Day!

It is cloudy here in Bolinas this morning. Looks like the clouds are thinning out and some blue sky should show sometime today. Should be a rain free holiday. There is a slight onshore breeze, causing some texture in the water, but over all pretty calm.
Waves are small, but ride-able.
Bring your long board and come have some fun.

Channel/Groin: Channel has waves breaking in the knee high range.
Not real consistent, but there are some fun little waves to be had. About a handful of guys out there.

Patch: Patch is a bit less consistent, with smaller waves.
Only one person in this spot.

Good morning everyone.

It is a beautiful, crisp, clear morning. Sun is shining brightly.
Should warm up nicely.
The ocean surface is smooth and glassy.
Waves are small, but ride-able.
Bring your long board and come have some fun.

Channel/Groin: Channel has waves breaking in the knee to thigh high range.
Not real consistent, but there are some fun little waves to be had.

Patch: Patch working better than the channel at this point. Waves are in the thigh high range but more consistent.

Daily Surf Report - 2/19/2011

Intermittent rain with partial clearing at times. Last night's full moon out when visible and patches of blue sky as well. Lots of snow on the hilltops above Stinson Beach. Winds are light and not effecting the ocean. Current temp of 41F. Forecast calls for clearing conditions and some sun through the weekend. Swell has dropped from yesterday and is small but ride-able.

Channel/Groin: Small lefts off both sandbars in the Channel. Size is consistently waist high or better and a longboard works best today. Rights on the Seadrift side in the same size range. Tide is filling in so be ready to paddle a bit.

Patch: Not as organized as yesterday but scattered waves in the waist high + size. Mostly rights with the occasional left to be had but fun on a longboard today. Some inside waves working a little.

Daily Surf Report - 2/18/2011

Thick fog with partial clearing at the coast. Current temp of 42F. Calm winds and smooth ocean surface. Swell has cleaned up and is surfable today. Lots of west angle. Tide is filling in and softening things up a bit.

Channel/Groin: Good outside left off the deep sandbar in the Channel. Size is shoulder high and is rideable on shorter boards.

Patch: Diminishing with incoming tide but rideable on a longboard and averaging waist high or better. Mostly rights with the occasional left to be had.

Boat Ramp: Close interval but smooth little waves in the 3' range. Quick drops and rides on shorter boards if you are game.

Raining on and off.

The tide is very high, breaking on the boat ramp, making it a bit harder to paddle out. There is a slight south wind. Partly cloudy skies out here as of this morning, but there is a chance of rain throughout the day. The temperature is currently 50 degrees.

Channel/Groin: Occasional waves breaking waist to chest high. Should get better with dropping tide.

Patch: Disorganized waist high sets.

We have some decent size swell today ranging from waist to chest high. Unfortunately with that big swell is big S wind ranging from 12-20mph today. High chance of rain throughout the day, currently overcast skies and 54 degrees.

Channel/Groin: Breaking waist to chest high, disorganized

Patch: Disorganized waist high sets.

As of 12:00 pm:
As expected, the outgoing tide has kind of zapped the energy out of the swell. Still comimg in about thigh high in the channel, not as clean.
Should get better as tide fills back in this late afternoon/evening.

It's another beautiful day here in Bolinas, sun is shining, winds are calm and variable and there is a nice little pulse in the water.


Channel/Groin: Breaking in the thigh to waist high range, with that left sandbar working pretty nicely. There are about 12 guys both shortboarders and longboarders.


Patch: Breaking in the knee to thigh high range, SUP and longboards required. With the outgoing tide there won't be much going on there.

I'd say come on out! Looks to be a beautiful day.

A sunny warm morning here in Bolinas with calm winds. We are expectin a high in the 60's and SSW winds at about 5-7mph this afternoon. All in all should be a beautiful day.

Channel/Groin: Breaking knee to hip high and mostly closing out in the channel. The groin has an okay left working. Should improve when the tide starts to come in this afternoon.

Patch: Some surf closer to the beach, breaking about knee high. There are several longboarders out right now. Hopefully it will start breaking further out with the dropping tide.

Daily Surf Report - 2/11/2011

Winter weather in CA. Frosty hills and ice overnite with a current temp of 45F. Will reach high 60s today. We have clear skies with lots of sunshine and moderate offshore winds grooming up the surf.

Groin/Channel: Small break today with smooth lefts in the Channel and rights at Seadrift. Waves are about waist high and rideable on a longboard. Offshore winds are causing nice spray off the back and holding up the waves for some decent rides. 6 surfers out in the water at this time.

Patch: Thigh high waves with rights breaking outside just in front of the meeting rock. SUPs and longboards in the water at this time. A bit more push than yesterday.

Groin/Channel: Small break today with lefts in the Channel and rights at Seadrift. Waves are about thigh high and rideable on a big board. 5 guys out in the water at this time.

Patch: Knee to thigh high waves with rights breaking outside. SUPs and longboards in the water at this time.

Groin/Channel: Small break today about knee high and currently blown out due to wind. About 2 guys out in the water.

Patch: There is nothing to ride in the patch this morning.

Well the perfect weather couldn't last forever. We are expecting another sunny day with a high in the 60s, however there are heavy NNW winds today approaching 24mph in the afternoon. Currently the wind is about 14mph with gusts just under 20mph.

Groin/Channel: Small break today about knee to hip high and currently blown out due to wind.

Patch: More managable with the waves holding shape in the knee to hip range. A few longboarders out right now.

Another summer like day out here in Bolinas.
It is already warming up outside, winds are slight and offshore.
Early fog but has already burnt off for the day. Come on out and enjoy!!


Channel/Groin: A handful of surfers out. Mostly the left is working, breaking in the thigh to waist high range. Should improve with incoming tide.

Patch: No one's surfing the patch as of 9:30 this morning. Not much happening but again, should improve with incoming tide.

Wow! What can I say, it's like a beautiful summer day here today.
The current temp is 65 degrees, winds are slight and offshore.
Sun is beaming on the ocean, you couldn't ask for a nicer beach day.
Come on out and enjoy!!


Channel/Groin: Surfers spread out from the Groin to the Channel. Mostly the left is working, breaking in the thigh to waist high range, nice and clean with the slight offshore holding it up nicely. Should improve with the incoming tide.

Patch: Waves are breaking in the knee high range. Definitely need a longboard/SUP out there. Again, should improve with incoming tide.
