The chill outweighs the will as huddled masses make moves to infiltrate.  As NW swell fades the winds become NE and favorable.  High low tides are still in play but as sand has been swept away the access is easy breezy in the morning.  Crystal clear skies and watery eyes make the whole world a blur of color.  Brrrrisk at 45F.  Let the sound be your siren guide and enter upon your own accord.

CHANNEL: Feeling but not reeling though significant energies are being expended. The effort to extract stoke is underway and what is ultimately being unearthed still remains to be seen and heard.  Majestic in its overall beauty as the morning secrets become unlocked.  Bust a move now as high tide waits for no one. 

PATCH: S swell has peaked and passed but leaves a few reminders of what was and can be.  Not as enticing upon first glance but smooth overall and full of serenity.  Delve deep into your inner self and find the true meaning of a surf session of solitude.

In the clinic you will get the full surf experience in a small group with one of our lead instructors. The day begins with a surf check of the local breaks for best conditions. Surf-spot selection is taught through the eyes of the advanced surfer, taking in to account swell models, tide data, and personal observations. You WILL learn how to decide when and where EXACTLY the best surf will be. Whether ripping the Channel or Nose-riding the Patch you will be ready to surf to your highest level.

Once out in the water, our experienced instructors will help you to "tackle the lineup" and catch waves in any situation. Your surfing will be progressed from &riding to ripping& as we delve into the key surfing concepts such as wave selection, position, the drop, the bottom-turn, top-turn, and cutback.

With personal instruction and the opportunity to surf both spots intown with expert local surfers, this clinic is an experience you will find nowhere else. Our Adult Surf Clinic is a great way to quickly improve your surfing and get lots of water time in a one day.

As the days start to splash together the rest of the world is apart. The day will come with nice swells and good conditions. With a south swell clear as day, water temp is 59 deg with a nice and easy 53 deg outside. Cold start to a nice day after the rain as ended the sun comes out from hiding and today should be a good day for all.

CHANNEL: The day starts calm with the high tide rolling in and nice peaks at the breaks. Good start to the early morning. Sets rolling in fast and loud while the crystals in the water shine as the early sun wakens.

PATCH: Warm as can be the day starts of right with rights like never before. The south swell takes it all and moves up high in the sky. As high tides rolls in the waves begin to break with a critical face enjoying the nice calm day.

As the storm passes though the high winds die as the water becomes still. With a new south swell, water being 58 deg and it is a brisk 50 deg this morning. Couple more days without the high winds and we'll be back on track with nice sets. 

CHANNEL: Winds die down with a chance of rain in the afternoon as strong sets roll in calm and small. The matter of having the right board is a factor in today's surf. 

PATCH: As high tides rolls in the waves begin to break with a crispy face enjoying the nice calm day.

What was once dry now becomes wet as morning scattered rain begins to fall in earnest.  SE winds are knocking the hustle and temperate temps of 59F are upon us.  A bit drab and dreary as stoke options become limited again.  Another strong NW swell begins to unfurl and wake with full expansion during the evening.  Currently occupying time with raccoon bowling and deer dodging while we wait out the current weather system.


CHANNEL: Wind hacked helpings of closeout conundrums defying most but not all players of the game.  Hold tight to your loved ones lest they blow free from your grasp while descending the boat ramp funnel chunnel.

Slippery roads and barking toads are on our rout. Unlike yesterday, we are back to gloomy and damp. The day is dark, beautiful, wet, and not too chilly at 59F. Mist is falling and more moisture is coming. Rain is expected as well as a storm to follow in the later hours of the evening. 



CHANNEL: A single bar breaks along the entire beach but it is not something to test. Mushy and not so clean. Eat some breakfast instead.

Calming trend just around the bend as winds head slack and lightly swirl and shimmy atop ocean surfaces.  No rain yet today and temp of 57F with sunshine on the forecast and our minds.  Much west in the current swells du jour thereby enhancing possibilities and potential probabilities.  Still a grace period is needed to allow for calm conditions to return.  



CHANNEL: Wishy washy with wall backlash and ramp splash as the usual suspects dive in.  Consistently confused and conflicted peaks are the final destination here this morning.  Size has diminished though shape and quality lags far behind.

Damp and dour in the early hour as heavy rain continues to fall backed by strong southerly winds.  An unholy combo that limits options with very few being water-borne or ocean friendly.  As a new NW swell begins formation we will all have to wait out the weather as the current mojo is no go. 



CHANNEL: Slammed and slashed with full force winds making the walk the the beach an effort of questionable activity.  Visually stunning in its total lack of shape and less organization.  All expectations are being met for a storm swept day.

It's just after high tide now and the water is no longer water its part of the wind. All choppy conditions this morning with a chance of meat balls for the afternoon. 

CHANNEL:  Too sloppy too windy for this early Monday morning. Its knee high of wind swells and a brisk 59 degrees and outgoing tide is getting slammed with winds up to 15 mph.  Gale force in effect.

PATCH: Well well well... what do we have here... nothing.

It's just after high tide now and the water is beginning to look like a surf zone. A NW swell is building as are the hopes of many. Only a certain few can achieve what they wish and the rest must consult a crystal specialist to be in the realm.

CHANNEL:  An outgoing tide is just right for the calm morning of today. A sitting party has gathered until the next set arrives and then back to the basics they go. Knee high.

Thin but therapeutic as another NW swell takes hold and tries to find solid footing within the early morning high tide.  Skies remain clear with a portent of future rains.  Temp sneaks in at 53F and it's as good as it gets this frisky Fall morning.  Multi-passenger vehicles disgorge their contents and cargo and the early processional towards the briny broth is in full effect.  


CHANNEL:  Morning high tides have peaked and now beat a moderate retreat.  Access gates are open but can shut in the blink of an eye.  A quick scamper is the recommended course of action.  Farther along in the mouth of the Channel and verging on Seadrift shows promise and potential with congruent lefts lurching up from the deep.  Size has come up and nears one's waist in a relative measure.

The sun is shining bright but it is even cooler today at 49F as we remember the fading heat. Parking is a plenty and there's an excess of room in the water as well, but not much activity, and for good reason. Tides will not drastically change and so the water is semi-still. With not too much swell it could remain that way for a good part of the day.

CHANNEL:  Imagine we must! this seems to be the choice for today, even though all that can be seen is the reflection of the sun and some teeny tiny rollers crumble in at shin high.

Trending downwards and spiraling along.  Now lending a degree of manageability with enough intensity to still deliver wave action.  A semblance of sensibility prevails and the morning is Fall at its finest.  Cleared skies in the dawn, backlit with rising sun.  Chill at 51F and winds are light and gently offshore.   Morning low tide is business as usual but note the boat ramp and all the detritus as the afternoon has different plans.  

CHANNEL:  Still backed by the current NW swell and bolstered by lessened winds and a general calming tone.  A more user-friendly countenance with Channel lefts open for business in the very early light.  Choose wisely and enjoy waist high slides across vacant expanses.  Choose poorly and get dumped and thumped though not trashed or thrashed.  Beautiful morning in progress and more than a few are suiting up and heading out.    
 


PATCH:  Scraps and remainders are being cobbled together to form a suitable session of stoke for some.  With low tides actually being more middling and waters adding by the hour the Patch presents gentle rollers without a heady challenge.  Pull out the log and wax it up.  There are far worse ways to start your day.

Skunk tails and coyote wails set the tone for this cherished morning.  Potent NW swell starting to burn off energy and attracting the rank and file like moths to a flame.  Swirling winds in semi-circular fashion for the most part performed grooming actions.  Still a lot of untamed waters moving about in all directions so clean is not a word to be used today.  Now with the low tides we find easy entry points and welcoming sands.  Later in the day will bring wall crashers and board smashers to all those not light on their feet or quick with decisions.  53F and clear skies with sun are in play.  

CHANNEL:  Waist high whompers mostly with clampdown desires as much West resides within this current swell.  The deeper Channel bar holds more form and reward  potential as better qualified lefts with elevated size pulse through.  All morning incoming tide will eventually peak out and swamp the scene but does allow for the Mali-BO right to become a worthwhile option of opportunity.   
 


PATCH:  A lesser selection but more manageable as the swell hits here with an overall reduced energy.  Still not the stuff of lore but popping peaks will provide as does the spirit of Jah.  Find your path and let it lead you to the salty salvation you seek.

Churned and burned though the weather has turned.  NW swell bolsters as winds die down and lightly swirl.  Temps chill out to 53F and skies remain clear, dry and well lit by brilliant moonlight bleeding away to full sunshine.  Still more or less a bumpy and lumpy ride and the incoming tide will only exacerbate this later in the day.  A few dedicated souls up and out early hoping to discern a few legible peaks to revive the stoke as a new week begins.

CHANNEL: Camel-backed tides will surely effect the rides and upon the current low there may be some breakers that exhibit a welcoming persona.  Even in the quiet hush of the early hours the seas remain savaged by the weekend onslaught. 


PATCH:  Now more moderated and beginning to align with constellations far above.  An unconventional approach will be needed to find a validated peak that holds true to form but there are some interested and others migrating forth.

The day starts cold; a thick layer of fog blocks our views but lets us see just far enough to make it through the morning. Currently 58F and a bit breezy. Moist air and wet hair is the theme of the day. A mish mash of swell and storm energy has the water in another washing machine like jamble.  Don't scramble to ramble as caution is best used by the wise.

CHANNEL: Extreme highs and negative lows turn the channel into a dead zone. Nobody dares sit and try for what will not be salvageable.


PATCH:  Sets coming in too quickly for their own good, yet another stormy byproduct.

Daily Surf Report - 10/15/2016

Seething with storm surge, pent up frustrations and full moon tides.  Backed by S winds to add some unwanted textures.  Decisively dominant NW swell and associated weather have the ocean ramped up but for what legitimate purpose?  Currently dry with damp pavements and temp of 57F.  Strong weather system to hit CA with the brunt likely above the Bay Area but some effects will surely be felt.  Have your awareness levels tuned up and always remember to measure twice and cut once.

CHANNEL: The agony and ecstasy as waters move in all directions and some resemble waves from our memory vaults.  Most breakers are quickly met with others in a smash up derby demolition destruction dousing.  Still holds a degree of attraction for those looking for action as a small commission approaches on land and eventually by sea.  Massive tide swing will have entry and exit tolls be paid later in the day. 


PATCH:  Mainly a by-product of storm swell rather than S swell creating a miasma likely to cloud judgement.  There may be some rideable waves created in confluence but the locations are shifty and unreliable though enlarged in size.

Come out to rent if you need gear. We have a full selection of suits, boots, boards, and boogies to rent every day and are only 522 steps to the beach.


Lots of NEW and USED boards are in the racks so come check it out. We have wetsuits for men, women and kids.  Plenty of 3 and 5mm booties, hoods and gloves are in stock as well. If you are in need of a new suit or board now is a great time to shop. We have all the gear for your cold water surfing needs.
