An evening of raucous revelry yields to a new morning of enLITEnment and those seeking serenity will find it in ample supply.  Overcast above and 50F.  Cooperative and slack winds yet faded swells on all fronts.  Mini micro waves of beauty and small stature are yours for the watching or riding this fine spring morning.
 

CHANNEL: Dave's not here man and neither is much in terms of waves so far.  The ultra occasional rolling bump with aspirations of breaking has been spotted though not ridden in the Channel proper.  Dropping morning tide will curtail the situation.

Early luck with much improved weather as the sun shines brightly down upon us all equally.  Chilled out early at 43F with light E winds to suggest a coming warmth.  NW swells are in retrograde though a new moderate S looks to make an appearance today.   Your pot of gold is out there at the end of some rainbow. 
 

CHANNEL: Heading toward the day's low tide and lessened rides.  A steadfast duo already making their exit after a few glides of joy.  Not quite flat - one level above.  Calf-ankle high?



PATCH: Efforting to expand with newly materialized S swell energies.  Knee high plus possibly as far reaching as one's thigh.  Beautiful in a multitude of aspects and a few slides only adds to the bounty.

Gloomy skies comes as a bit of a surprise, for we are reminded by the weather that summer is not yet upon us. A breeze prevails and the temperature sits still at 58F but the moist air tells us differently. Tides averaging out today with nothing too extreme. Looking like a calm, slow day here in Bo town.

A brilliant day of sun with zero wind chill and it seems that the 55F weather is but a peck on the cheek promising for some fun if only you shed your fear, hit the road and leave the land behind. With the rise in tide and the W/NW swell you may find a buddy about waist height if you know what you're looking for. Soothing, balmy and beautiful start to the takeoff of torqued Tuesday here in Bolinas; grab the boards, grab the babes or bros and enjoy the sun for remember...it's only the beginning of Spring.

 

CHANNEL: It seems that there are some floating heads out there with  nothing to push them except for the paddles in their hands...smooth, calm and bleak. If you're looking for a spot to float this is the one. 



PATCH:  It's real, it's empty and it's yours for the taking. Today is the day, it is time to be an individual. It is time to be alone, to search for the unknown - the unexplored. Do it, I promise you it's better when it's just you, the waves and the board anyway.

Sun-tacular morning that will sear the eyes out of all vampires.  Intensely lit and chilled out with early temps of 43F causing some quivers.  No winds today and just minor deposits of swell to contend with.  Short W windswell backed with a fading S has both spots willing but working on a scale wage.  Low tide exposing all the returned beach for long walks and thoughtful contemplation. Incoming tide starting to give that little push to tip the scales towards a quick log sesh.   

 

CHANNEL: Slim and slight in the oh so bright morning sun.  Pop Tart lefts off the Groin wall spin aimlessly upon the shallows.  The potential for inside Mali-Bo rights exists in the current climate if the dying swell has enough resilience to last one more day.   Knee high + surf is an accurate depiction.  



PATCH:  The last lingering bits of the S swell are in evidence and being enjoyed by a duo and all their imaginary friends.  Thigh high relevant rights on tap and timely today.

We spring forwards to gain ground and time as we lengthen the day while losing a bit of sleep. The day seems invigorated in the new early light as temps slip down to 47F and a refrained glow bathes the dawn patrol. Wisps of fog are already a memory and a sun filled sky is well in evidence. A lessened session is upon us today but there is beauty and bounty if you slow down long enough to look around. Our mini-magnitude waves still have the capacity to elicit stoke and spread smiles. 

 

CHANNEL: Seldom encountered lefts with the low tide swinging back.  The incoming push has not gained enough traction to counteract the diminished NW swell.  More depth of purpose is required which can be found towards Seadrift or during the later morning hours. 



PATCH:  A touch of SW swell currently being sourced provides just enough to make most loggers suit up as the day is stunning if not statuesque.  Rock and sand spread across the land with the high tide forthcoming by lunch.  Catch a few rights and work on your tan.  It is a win / win.

The crow's call is our alarm and reverberates as a portent of spring.  Hazy fog makes for lazy times and the eager, early birds have truly gotten the worm.  Temp sure to rise yet begins at 51F and light SE winds.  Patchy blue with hints of sun are already marking above.  All swells fade as the tide rides high so time is of the essence.  Smooth sands have returned and a beach day is in the offering.     



CHANNEL: Bowling rollers as the water deepens are centrally located within the Channel.  Straying across the Groin wall will yield diminished returns and longing looks.  Venture out into the unknown waters and dip a toe in the lefts that yearn to reach waist high in countenance.

We remove the sun but add some swell as the skies remain overcast while the week comes to a close.  Temps hold steady at 54F and light winds have NE focus.  A confab of westerly-based swells join forces in production while a small but longer period south has arrived overnight.  A welcome sight for sore surf eyes as parking spaces have already dwindled with those hungry for stoke feasting on the offerings.  



CHANNEL: As the high tide finds its ultimate amplitude forces are directed into the Channel proper to mediate the watery depths. Straying too far towards the Groin pole will leave you wanting and watching as waist high + rollers are released a bit towards the south city limits.


PATCH: Here is where we find the deliverance from the new S swell. Not in glorious size but with repeatable frequency and a playful nature. Slideable submissions from the deep have thigh high aspirations and a growing lineup looking to partake.

All but surf is available at the moment which seems not to be a problem for those enjoying the sunshine. Calm and flat waters stay still in wait of tidal change. No better day than today to get things done, but remember to enjoy yourself every step of the way. If it is here you are traveling, the temperature is 64F and climbing. Remember your SPF and wait no longer to see today's miracle.


CHANNEL: Waves cease to exist as do any life forms in this area. No luck here, try wait.

Neither high nor dry as rogue independent storms raged through the night.  We wake to a calming trend backed with 50F temps and no winds.  Partially clearing skies look now likely to win the battle as blue + sunshine begin to overwhelm grey above.  Rapid changes have been the norm so expect anything.  A NWesterly swell has arrived with the precipitation and ocean temps tick up to 54F.  Some look and go home.  Others don't look and jump in.  Which one will you be today?


CHANNEL: Here we can see and enjoy the efforts of the ocean's energy as the NW swell angle penetrates.  Non-consistent but showing promise with sizes up to chest high at some times.  Bending and bowing to the contours below - what starts off right eventually goes left.



PATCH:  A lone paddler stands tall and triumphant as he surveys the domain.  The dojo is dominated by miniature movements of the knee high variety and is the solitary kingdom of one for now.

Back to the whine and grine as heavy overnight showers magically cease.  Of course we need more rain but now the sun seeks to forage through leaving blemished blue skies and pockets of clouds.  A little shizzle and shiver early as temps dip to 44F. Winds have declined significantly and are now gently from the NE and shifty.  Possibly a day for #AlternativeActivities though the determined have made their way to the beach on the hunt for stoke and slides. 


CHANNEL: Storm-borne burgers breach the surface and have elements of rideable waves within.  A dropping tide means the time to strike like the cobra is now.  Thigh high and short lived.  



PATCH:  Only the NW windswell in contention here to create waves as the small south has evaporated.  The contributions are meek but the sun shines now, the surface remains smooth and the vibes are positive.

Mostly misty with intermittent bouts of rain.  No heavy stuff just periods of downpour followed by clearing skies, sun, clouds and rain on repeat cycle. Not a deterrent to outdoor activities. The winds have graced us and decided to stay slack giving a sleek finish to the ocean.  Temps are a balmy 52F and the colors above keep changing on a whim. A lessening of the NW windswell having detrimental effects in some areas while a slight uptick from a steep S could elicit positivity in others.  


CHANNEL: Much sit, much wait, much talk, much sit, much wait for the devoted and determined.  Draining tides not helping the situation.

Low tide vibes and minor overcast as the day slowly unfolds towards greatness.  Conversationalists outnumber wave sliders in the early light as less does not currently equal more.  44F and sun starting to peek through the cloud curtain.  No winds in play and the only swells of measurable activity are meek and weak.  Nevertheless, the day is one of beauty and the ocean always gives to those that ask nicely. 


CHANNEL: Whispers and wishes on a collapsed surface.  Negligible offerings and centrally located in the Channel or better yet over at Seadrift.  Concrete Groin wall stands as a stark reminder of bygone sands.  


PATCH:  Little rights as the offspring of a petite S swell are visible in the mist.  Knee high crankers and ankle crushers show no signs of diminishing along the rocky outcroppings as the morning tide bottoms out.

What a day to be alive, happy Thursday everyone. The sun is out and the day is heating up. Already at 55F here and expected to increase. 0% clouds and 100% happiness here today as the tide begins to start its rise. Rocky totems standing tall and vast expanse of beach calls us onto the shore.


CHANNEL: No chance of surf as of now but may improve as the day moves forward. Rub your lucky crystal in hopes for better conditions. Take advantage of the sunlight and be selfless in your desires. Come to the water's edge and look but don't touch.

A fade to black as the sun shines brilliantly.  Deeply diminished NW swell on less than adequate early tides makes for a morning of contemplation and warm beverages.  39F at the start with eagerly melting rooftops yielding to the orb above.  A line has been drawn in the sand daring you to cross and jump in.  Are you up and willing to take the plunge?



CHANNEL: Fully exposed Groin wall in all its mesmerizing glory.  Growing expanses of open sands as the daily ebb and glow deposits back what was earlier removed.  Glistening waters upon a highly reflective surface.  Sedentary surf nearing nonexistence currently on low tide.


PATCH: A singular solitary knee paddler makes the long journey into the unknown. Anticipation of a tidal influx push is all that fuels the dream.

Frosted white and oh so bright as again we are presented with sunshine and cold temps.  35F makes the eyes bleed and the toes tingle.  Continually fading NW swells keep the options thinly veiled and present in minute amounts.  The habitual attendee, in search of their daily stoke injection, will surely find what they seek.  The overwhelming beauty of the day is the X factor and is not to be overlooked.  Sand is being re-deposited daily and the beach is rounding back into fine form. 



CHANNEL: The devil is in the details and at first glance they may escape initial observation.  Note the wide open and inviting beach.  See the inner bar mechanics as they pursue bottom contours on the incoming tide.  Turn your face skyward and soak in some welcome Vitamin D.  Assume ankle crackers and knee cappers. 


PATCH:  As boards of amplified measurements are unwrapped and limbs are stretched we begin to center our expectations on the outermost limits of existence.  A worthy pursuit is in the making and while the quantity of breakers will exceed no limits the quality of the day increases exponentially.

Daily Surf Report - 2/27/2017

Freshly rinsed and spun dry as overnight rain yields to sunshine and steaming streets. Temp all the way up to 45F and not a cloud to be seen.  Blindingly sunny and winds refuse to blow - a fine day to enjoy some beach time.  A subdued mix of NW swell fights a losing battle with a growing tide.  We turn the page and bang the gavel on another week and wipe the slate clean in hopes of new beginnings. 



CHANNEL: A devoted duo sits in repose and waits for swells of import to appear.  Their time together is without consequence as most arrivals are lacking in virtue.  At least they have each other. 


PATCH:  When the earth is flat the options are unlimited.  SUPs and NUPs will find exercise their option as long distances must be traversed in the quest for waves.  Loggers looking to linger and layabout will be rewarded though the infrequent knee high roller may disturb the serenity.
