Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Easter is meant to be a symbol of hope, renewal, and new life." - Janine di Giovanni

Happy Easter to all! The wind is blowing and the day is gray. Thick clouds cover the sky keeping dark in and the sun out. Rain begins to fall and the forecast is keeping the masses indoors. Cold and windy, current temperature being 54F and not seeming to rise. Take today to be with family, give thanks, stay indoors. Today is not a beach day.

CHANNEL: Choppy and sloppy as the storm begins, No sign of life here but what lives below is still a mystery.

PATCH:  No better than the channel, possibly worse in fact as the tide drops and water crashes onto rock.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese." - Steven Wright

Mixed skies bring mixed messages as we ease into spring time living. The sun shines brightly through pockets while the morning temps dip and hold.  A glorious day to get out and turn your face skyward as soon we shall have more rain to contend with.  Preparations are in effect for the great rabbit's visit and the hunt is on for waves and eggs alike.  Both swells deplete themselves and a rogue low tide tests one's will to persevere.  44F now and will warm into the 60s.  No winds for now and the skies are partially blue.  Gilbert, rise and shine!

CHANNEL: Wide vastness of exposed sand with our early morning low tide sucking dry.  A time for beach combers to find treasure and lovers to take long walks.  Not nearly enough water to fathom a rideable wave as one must wait the long wait until early afternoon to attempt a slide or three.  Shore lappers only.

PATCH:  A lessening in quantity and quality as swells fade and waters retreat.  Exposure of rocks at an all time high with an opposite effect upon the waves.  Knee knockers and calf rockers for your Saturday morning enjoyment.  The sun is out in all its glory and there are participants in the sport of kings making worthy efforts with borderline success.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Make the most of the best and the least of the worst." - Robert Louis Stevenson

Supremely settled as the weather now takes a Jekyll turn for the pleasant.  Chilled out and down to 41F with sunny clear skies and very light NE winds.  Ripe with prospects and the hunt is on.  Peaking NW swell searching for adequate water levels upon which to bestow some goodness while a small but longer period S piggybacks along for the ride.  Everything feels fleeting so seize the moment before it passes.

CHANNEL: Another early morning low tide situation to contend with as we hit dead low and hover.  More swell in the water shows the promise in the shallows but a true rideable wave will need to be sought out across the pond in the Seadrift territory.  Afternoon tides rise to a respectable level and should bring more waves and people overall.

PATCH:  An amalgamation of influences has brought both sunshine and slides in varying quantitiesGlossy faces reflecting the beams above and transmitting a measure of stoke to those in the pool.  Scattered but no matter as it keeps the field spread across an uneven range.  Log rider waves in the thigh to waist high region can be obtained and the incoming tide should delve to improve things in a general sense.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you've imagined." - Henry David Thoreau

Another day, another dousing as more rain falls in moderation.  One senses the potential for clearing as sky pockets in the distance appear blue, sunny and inviting.  Without winds the drops fall straight and unwavering to earth.  Balmy at 52F and surrounded by mist and wonder in the clearing light.  A new NW swell will begin filling in and joining forces with the current SW windswell from earlier storms. The rain tastes especially sweet as you walk along the beach and morning low tide holds no secrets.

CHANNEL: Low tide / No tide as we hit rock bottom.  Less equals less with not quite enough water to orchestrate more than worm-burner slop chop.  Incoming tide and filling NW swell gives one hope that the afternoon may yet hold opportunity.

PATCH:  Most all rocks exposed from the morning tidal retreat.  Hours must pass until enough water returns to make this locality more persuasive.  Try coffee now and contemplate a pre-lunch revisit.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Could you describe the ruckus, sir?" - Brian, The Breakfast Club

What a day to be alive - there are rainbows on the road, green rolling hills on the sides and surf in the ocean. The fog encapsulates us out here in Bo, making us feel as if we are in a world of our own. We're sitting out here in comfy temperatures, a time where the fog and drizzle of rain allow our mind to wander. There is SW winds coming into our area bringing the waves while the rain deters the people, get it while you can for only the storm knows what it shall bring for this gathering. First glance tells you go home, but if you look past the cover you may find a gem.

CHANNEL: Some waist high waves offer up to a short ride and even shorter paddle - quick, continuous and plenty here.

PATCH:  From first glance it seems to be disoriented and yet if you know where to look it is there. Way out yonder thou shall see a sight that resembles logs, seals, or men - whatever your imagination / eye sight allows - and it is here where you shall find a few beauties.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I wanted a challenge, something daring. I felt suddenly, that the price of my sense of belonging...would be my sense of self." - Ayaan Hirsi Ali

I am greeted with the sound of the ocean this morning - it is not menacing, it is not pumping but you can hear the power. Four open parking spots, two surfers (one who seems to think he's surfing OB) and one man decked out in pajamas are the sights my eyes catch as I head towards the beach. There are SE winds pushing into Bo but not enough to offer up the best goodies; it's a turnabout Tuesday here - stewy waters, overcast skies, slight rain, temp. in the mid-50s and surf. Do you relish in the comfort of your home or do you send?...take your pick.

CHANNEL: Once more I see a newbie struggling to paddle as the waves impede upon him/her and yet, the heart fills with joy whilst watching one take to the ocean to learn her ways. Some thigh high surf is offered up - take it while you can for we all know, come summer there will be no solitude in these waves.

PATCH:  Go for a paddle, past the rock that prevails the tides, off into Fiddler's Green - this shall be the locus in which thou shall find companionship amongst fellow travelers and the element that you desire.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito." - Dalai Lama

Budding light through clouded skies as morning comes slowly today.  Hints of sun streak the skies with red as pockets open as windows into the unknown.  Who among us can tell the future of for that matter the present moment?  A reset to the week and starts with eager but modest swells from above and below.  Each has its own destination without competition.  Currently battling an early morning low tide but the regulars are on it as crowds have vanished.  48F and light NE winds if any.

CHANNEL: Crumblers and bumblers in the lack of morning waters.  Tide starting to fill in and emerging NW swell will be able to reformulate and land.  At the moment knee high drainers and no takers.  Plenty of sand exposed and shallow in general

PATCH:  Still a smooth demeanor with uneven pockets of peaks.  A level playing field for a small group of stoke seekers.  High tide conceivably giving an extra push.  Options at thigh high and above are spaciously placed.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one." - Mother Teresa

Beams of light break the day open and reveals all that is worthy. Bustling streets and friendly faces let us know that everyone is here for the same reason. The incoming tide continues to rise and can leave you feeling soggy but possibly stoked if you time it just right. 46F is the current temperature, but the good news is it's warmer in the water. A good day to photosynthesize and be well, so spread kindness and understanding.

CHANNEL: Not quite what the masses had hoped for at the moment as the time has passed. The incoming tide is beginning to fill in so better luck later in the afternoon as the tide recedes.

PATCH:  Packs of people and pods of dolphins would agree that this is the place to be. With water coming in quickly, rides are possible but may not last with some becoming mushy with time. Knee to thigh.  Get out there!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses." - Confucius

Drab but drying with intermittent hints of sun +blue to confuse and confound.  On and off showers though in lesser quantity as we say goodbye to the drought which has had a good long run.  Minor squalls passing through and light SW winds on a relatively smooth ocean.  Plenty of lump and bump to contend with due to a sound NW swell and residual S windswell.  44F to start the day and the rest is truly anyone's guess.

CHANNEL: Time and tide on your side in the early hours as virgin rollers appear in double time.  Chest high peaks and occasional freaks refract upon the sandbars and distribute in two directions.  A much improved countenance from yesterday's windwash and looks to hold promise until the tide hits apex.  Lowtide afternoons should also carry hope though the weekend.

PATCH:  Touched by a rainbow and that is as good a reason as any to paddle out.  Small scale southerly windswell bearing early fruits are offered for the tasting.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter." - Mark Twain

No laughing matter and likely a day only Mr. Warmth could appreciate.  On and off heavy stuff coming down as a new deluge is upon us with rain gauges showing 1.5" or more.  Jupiter in Opposition and massive overnight winds which have since calmed but have left debris and dregs on both land and sea.  Hefty NW swell builds while plenty of SW windswell lingers.  Unfortunately a deep calming period will be required in order to make today a surf day for all but the most N facing beaches.  Try Wait.

CHANNEL: Awash in heaps of whitewater and unformed in many aspects.  Lots of tide and much swell not mixing well with current S winds.  If the rain stops and the winds die off and the tide drops - there will be reason for another look see.  Not sure if any of that will happen today.

PATCH:  SW windswell negotiating high tides and strong winds.  Ruinous remnants of varying proportions suitable for nothing involving slides or rides.  Whatever mileage we put on, we'll take off.  We'll drive home backwards.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you can believe it, the mind can achieve it." - Ronnie Lott

Selective and sporadic rain falls though not the heavy stuff for now.  Some associated S winds but not enough to keep stoke seekers away as a solid NW swell emerges and is lightly backed by a light SW pulse.  Temps hover at 50F and skies are misted over and clouded.  Neither glamorous nor glorious out but not uninviting either.

CHANNEL: An amorphous pod hovers and hangs in anticipation.  As deeper tides arrive the Channel bar is where the group attempts their efforts.  Shuffling and shuttling along trying to align with the rhythm of the sea.  When it comes it contains surface texture and roams waist high and above.

PATCH:  Buffeted by winds and having the SW swell knocked down and out, it is currently the operational region of kayaks and surf casters.  Not sure either is having the best of luck at the moment.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Pay heed to the tale of old wives. It may well be that they alone keep in memory what it was once needful for the wise to know." J.R.R Tolkien

Slow start to the morning, as it seems this Wednesday has left countless people sitting in cars during that morning traffic. The water lays reflective, calm and sleeping it seems but leaves a whisper of something good later in the day as the NW swell lingers on. Catch them while you can for the 54F temperature is destined to rise but the sun is prophesied to stay hidden in anticipation for what this upcoming storm has in store.

CHANNEL: Do you remember that feeling when you were a little kid and you were so full and tired that it took all your energy to get ready for bed? That seems to be the mood here - full, groggy and completely empty. After a little nap and a change in water levels there is a promise in the wind that it will produce.

PATCH:  I see more people standing and kayaking than those using their own two hands to catch the wave. There are some waist high rollers but unless you like competing for wave I'd follow the waves that are not congested - they exist, one must only open their eyes.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Maybe it's just that you don't grow up any faster than what you have to." - Cormac McCarthy

Ripping, roaring and rocking it is not today. It seems the weekend has taken the waves with it and left some of the people. We are seeing a pick up of S swell coming in but it is just a taste as the NW windswell has filled out palate for the past while and are slowly but surely fading. There is a mixture of light grey clouds letting the sun peek through to offer up that 54F temperature with mild winds; safe to say, if you have not lost the kid inside of you, it may well be a day for play.

CHANNEL: The lone sole heads out for a quick paddle as the surf here begins to pick up; seems as if someone has an eye for solitude and surf. Seeing some rollers peaking just at chest height giving way for a quick, desirable ride.

PATCH:  Populated and low it is. Some seem to be sitting ducks waiting for something that may never come, while others paddle ferociously, kicking to catch that calm, joyous ride.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you don't have a dream, there is no way to make one come true." - Steven Tyler

Subdued, to a degree, as the Monday work week rolls around.  Breakers, takers and booty shakers still linger for the larger combo-ing NW swells that remain in play.  Parking thin and dwindling in the early hours as dropping tides decrease rides.   Full sunshine and 47F with no wind in sight.  Feels like summer in April.

CHANNEL: Redeeming rollers go unoccupied as only those with keen eyes can spy opportunity.  Multiple bars showing poise and promise with swell angles tilted towards decency.  Size ranges with chest high routes to nirvana available.

PATCH:  Again drawing the most attention as residual NW forces mingle around and force their way upon Patch reefs.  Well, well outside is the land of the paddle wielders and long loggers with smooth faces going places if you are up for the journey.   Insider trader rights still have enough aqua coverage to reveal themselves and roll unimpeded towards shore.

MADNESS on the rise this morning as streets are already packed full and fender benders have already occurred and will again. Keep your eyes peeled and watch where you step, cars dodging and willing to get the spot whether you're there or not. Tides lining up today, as the prime has already passed for the early hours and will not return for a few more. Swell doing A okay and everybody seems to know it.

CHANNEL: None choose, only to escape the crowd that keeps growing.

"What would be ugly in a garden constitutes beauty in a mountain." -Victor Hugo

Early morning mystery turns into reality as the sun reveals what is unseen in  darkness. Some would say today is the day, the majority would agree. Bright light warms our faces and brings us to familiar places such as here, where we sit and wonder if it is us that's being called upon. Positive highs counter negative lows but as of now, all rocks are exposed. Keep an eye out for better hours, the best has yet to come.

CHANNEL: Blinding reflections forbid vision but one can assume the least. Little shore liners stumble in but have no meaning.

Windy and chilly but the light gives us hope. 57F currently but we wish for more more more. Extra low tides have cleared the walking way. Enjoy a view or two, for you may stay dry.

CHANNEL: Some hear the call, others refuse. Shin high or rocky? You'll have to choose.

PATCH:  Full rocky island exposed, but still enough water to wet your toes. Sets still coming in slow but steady, knee high and breezy.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose." - Dr. Seuss

The direction of the general population today doesn't seem to be out here to Bolinas as I saw more drivers out on a leisurely drive than those who were stoked to surf. Once again we got that WNW wind swell and a solid 55F temperature to quench our Thirsty Thursday; this time however, it seems we may stay parched for the wind is stirring up a whole bunch of choppy stew. Windy wet-willy anyone?

CHANNEL: I had a fellow viewer today looking at the channel and her thought process must of been thinking of one thing only: I made a huge mistake - similar to the mood in our country.

PATCH:  If you like a long paddle, a bumpy ride and some mediocre waves today is your day; the ocean is clear of humans, birds and seals from the look of it but you may just find yourself making friends with some rocks.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms." - George Eliot

Wonky, wacky and distorted...what's next? As the tides come in the surfers start to trickle out and although that NW swell is still pushing in it seems the people have better things - or maybe they already got the best. Starting off the morning with a solid 57F temperaturein the words of Jim JefferiesBo baby, you might just be 7 and a damn good looker...too bad everyone has a not so desirable trait and yours just seems to be the wind todayLet's hope it simmers down and allows those rollers to keep on keeping on.....

CHANNEL:
Anyone in the mood to share some kind words todayThere seems to be a man out there all alone, lost and confused...someone please direct him towards the waves.

PATCH:  Longlean and far. If you can paddle, grab the surfboard and go before that wind picks up because there's some prime time.
