Daily Surf Report - 10/8/2017

Bathed in moonlight and basking in former glory the day unfolds same as it ever was.  Damp ramp and dripping suits hang from every level as a new NW swell seeks to find purchase and the S swell grows yet shifts angles.  Clear skies with no initial winds though overnight gust effects can be seen.  Temp up a few clicks to 48F and parking an early scarcity.  Find it early or later as mid-day tide rise finds heights not optimally suited for stoke.

CHANNEL:  Looks to be a bit wind and tide affected with potential corners to be collected.  Incoming tide push may just yield the answer as NW swell it out there looking for a landing port.  A bit chipped and chopped with a small bout of morning sickness that should soon pass.  CheckHimOut is the birthday boy so give a wide berth and allow him all waves of consequence. 

PATCH:  Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down.  Letting the days go by, water flowing underground.  Into the blue again in the silent water.  Under the rocks and stones there is water underground.  And you may ask yourself.  Am I right?  Am I wrong?

Pop tops, flip flops, roof shakers, van dwellers and all of society are up and on it with the early light of day.  All manner of surf vehicle is getting waxed up with hordes of the suited and booted sallying forth.  NW swell looks to be a quick hitter and deliver early blows before fading in the later rounds.  Newer SW surge regrouped, re-angled and ready to step in and finish with a flourish.  44F, clear skies, no winds and a beauty that surrounds and always prevails.  Super Saturday Swell Spectacular continues and nobody beats The Wiz.

CHANNEL:  Still lean but starting to clean on the turning tide.  Less populated and looking to expand its influence in rising waters.  Spinner lefts in the shallows show the potential yet unmet.  Current offerings not entirely enticing but those with a keen sense sit back and wait to later strike like the cobra.  

PATCH:  Low tide not a problem as new swells have angled convergence overflowing the reef.  A bit square and fat but delivering waves faces in many places with most portions adequately filling.  More water should clean & tidy up the rough edges to allow for more connectivity and flow.  Sizes for all sliding levels from thigh to chest high and EVERYBODY is already in the water.

Heavy humanity as the coconut wireless spreads the news far and wide.  New swells from multiple angles contrive and converge to kick off fall festivities.  The tide confounds at both low and high but energy override pulses peaks through.  Beanie time with temps down to 44F and skies crystal clear and blue.  Thankfully no winds and an overall burnished ocean facade up and down the beach.  Civilized behavior early which may not last through the day.

CHANNEL:  Pumps are primed but off to a sputtering start.  Fuel levels seem optimum but the mixture ratio may need some fine tuning to get this jalopy running at top speed.  New NW swell angle might just need a bit more time and tide to fully strut.  Check the afternoon outgoing for improved flow.  Now thigh high + lefts of minor merit.

PATCH:  Feeling it and dealing it with long period S swell emerging from the depths.  Logjammers convocation continuing to climax as the incoming tide allows a fuller reveal.  As large as waist high + well outside with diminishing heights but no less fun as you travel further shoreward.

Dense surroundings and shrouded in mystery.  Deep cover of fog and a time for profound thoughts without meaning.  Newness on the way but some cannot wait and venture into the unknown with high hopes and great expectations.  Heavy air settled at 47F and just a hint of E winds at times.  Something is out there building, building.

CHANNEL:  Low tide slides if there are even any rides.  A duo slips into the mist in search of more than meets the eye.  Swell on the horizon but likely later in the day when tides may peak and visuals will surely improve.  For now the options are unknown but the decision is always yours.  Do or do not.  There is no try. 

PATCH:  Embedded in sorrow and a lack of tide and swell.  All factors pointing to the negative presently.   The potential for a new SW surge is written only in the tea leaves which have yet to be read.

Humble offerings under sublimated skies while we feel the change of fall take effect.  Air temp down to 48F and waters have cooled a bit as well and now register 55F.  A relative calm again prevails yet the day seems to present unlimited options to be outside.  Wide open spaces and deep blue places are all yearning for your exploration.  The invitation is an open one....

CHANNEL:  Slip and slide and remember to abide by all codes be they posted or unwritten.  Shin rackers or knee slappers are to be selectively savored and utilized as stoke starters only.  More comes soon, for now just be and anticipate.

Luminous blue skies and dazzling yellow orange above greet us with open minds and welcoming hearts this cool morning.   46 air temp with promises of pleasant warmth as the day forges ahead.  Minuscule NS swell on the horizon not seen with squinted eyes.  The ocean is an open canvas, come, believe and receive the beauty in all its splendor.

CHANNEL:  Be the only one to embark on the adventure of finding whats feeds you.  Ankle over foot is rolling out the red carpet to begin this nautical day. Be still, be calm, just be one with oneself as we are reminded of how lucky we are to experience life in all its glory.

Calm, cool and peaceful vibes fill the void as we start this Monday morning.  Sweeping capacity for logs and buggies with a plethora of open cement spaces.  Thermal reading of 58 makes for a brisk wake up.  Wind has been calmed and the sun is out in all her glory. NW swell slow to push as only the true believers make the pilgrimage to find what they are looking for. 

CHANNEL:  The ocean rewards the believers, as shin over ankle prizes are won.  Let the blazing sunshine be your guide, as you start your journey.  Keep expectations in alignment as you slide your way through and take a moment to be one with yourself. 

PATCH:  Beautiful, blue and harmonious as pelicans dance on the oceans surface.  Hunt for treasures on shore as we are reminded of the beautiful nature that surrounds us.

Flip the script and turn the page as we dive into a new month of beginnings with clean slates.  A decided calm sets the tone but likely not to stay sedated with clearing skies and rising temps.  Variable winds that seem to ripple rather than razzle the ocean surfaces and a re-built NW windswell takes hold.  Somewhat sheltered regions are receptive to the submissions and all tides seem optimally suited for aquatic experiences. 

CHANNEL:  Peaky pesky poppers worth the pursuit in light of most recent interludes.  Satisfactory slides from all sides have logs bearing periodically left with the majority going right.  Shallow bars re-invigorate neglected localities and rides of dimension are achievable and available.

PATCH:  The never land between seasons as summer ends and fall has yet to show in earnest.  S swells wane and vanish while true NW swells brew above but have yet to formulate a travel itinerary.  Find contentment in the surroundings and relish the waves of wonder if and when they come.

Rise, shine and shake off the aches as another day is upon us.  Random deliveries at odd hours are the specialty of the day and unexpected gifts can be bestowed at any time.  Easy breezy from the NW and clearing skies may have us realizing some atmospheric warmth soon and we start at 57F.  Firmly entrenched wind-swells are the propulsive forces to be tackled and the distribution system has moderate tides to contend with. 

CHANNEL: Continued exploration yields loggable lines with lengthy journeys to enjoy.  The early incoming tide push lending a helping hand to the dawn cracklers and whippersnappers.  Spacial rights and lefts are in the offering and while the size is up a bit it still remains below waist high.  Energy enough to propel and that is all we ask some days.

PATCH:  Push it along, push it along.  Push it along, yeah, push it along.  All you got to do is push it along, push it along.

Skunk trails and raised tails require evasive actions and varying detours in the search for visuals.  We bid farewell to summer and reflect back while also looking forward to fall.  Cleansed skies with colored streaks look poised for greatness.  Light W winds have it warmed up to 55F and all systems are on GO.  Tides only gently warble and show no propensity to swing.  Moderate mixes are the delivery system of the day and expectations kept in a reality check can be both met and exceeded. 

CHANNEL: A blip and a warm dip as water temps stay raised.  Sunshine to coat the face and memories to warm the heart.  Officially cruisable with adequate rights reaching well into the Channel proper.  Occasional lefts will pop and ping and drive you towards the pole of destiny.  Either way is alive and welcomed after a period of recess that has extended too long. 

PATCH:  A dedicated domain for flat-water activities with SUPs and kayaks leading the procession.  Early and later incoming tides have the range to elicit reverberations but they are not resounding and currently vanished.

For some, the morning is bathed in fog but for us, the sunny, summery sun is a golden ray of delight; stretching as far as the eye can see is a no but our immediate paths are warmed by nature and opportunity. Swells are away for now but we hold enough brains to know about the gift of logs out here. A glorious day it shall be if you just stop with the negatives and appreciate that you are of the luckiest souls, beating the 1 in 400 trillion odds to be here in the first place. Smile. You're not on camera but you live in a place that has the ability make you smile everyday.

CHANNEL: Golden rays warming our souls and our desires as the shift in tide brings better shadows; these are not the ones that haunt your past but rather make you wish they will stay forever. A decent scratch at the shin leaves a happy camper with low expectations delighted. Accept what is, and make the most of it.

PATCH:  Yesterday was national pancake day, and today, we celebrate along with the ocean. A pancake morning to sit on the beach and enjoy the savory sweet; drops of syrup both in your tummy and in forms of eyeish delights of beauty. In short, pancakes are flat. Learn the similarities; read between the lines.

A continuum of days past; our summer has arrived and the land is being lit up with golden rays. Our bodies and minds sigh with contentment- today is a day of all days. Warm in air and water, we invite the ability to surrender to and to be free from what fills our minds and instead soak in the opportunities of openness. Small fun and sometimes the best fun; bodies wake up and enter the water - say yes. The first quarter moon brings equality, transition, and peace. Expect joyous shins, riding on our favorite vehicle.

CHANNEL: Shield the eyes, bring the hats and that awesome sunscreen and go. Water full but energy enough to persevere. Breakage is a no but ride the movement - ride the kinetic energy. Logs are needed for a joyous day; shin over ankle. Don't ponder too long.

PATCH:  A pond. A lake. A stillness that resonates deep in your bones. Movement is negated and thoughts of rollers sit in the past and the future, leaving the present to be accepted for what is not.

Clear, crisp and blue as far as the eye can see. Blazing sun reflecting off salty water on this beautiful break of day. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and recharge your crystals in anticipation for Mother Natures bounty. The air is 54F with temperate waters. Be still with nature, soak in the tranquility and align expectations.  There is small fun to be had.

CHANNEL: Let the suns brilliance wrap around you like a warm blanket. Low key shin over ankle ripples are to be had. Small good vibe tribes hunting and gathering, collecting little breakers.  Positive sensibilities makes for a jam-session.

PATCH:  Meditate on the meaning of life and imagine what may come tomorrow.

Chilly is the morning, yet clear is the day. Beautiful indeed is the sun shining in beams and blasting off of the water's surface. Come and experience the light and bring crystals for clarity. Look to the sun for direction, but don't look to close. The air is 49F but the water is warmer. The current is still, as are we. Keep an eye out, and keep expectations at a minimum.

CHANNEL: With the tide at a momentary stand still, we can assume that conditions will not change for the time being. Blinding light reflects from this place, so checking now is of no help. What is visible is 1 SUP wondering and searching for something new, something he will not find. Little ripples are all that break the silence.

PATCH:  Flat as a pancake. But the thin kind, the one with extra crispy, buttery edges. Mmmmm.

Peaceful and placid vibes in the morning chill.  Many rest comfortably among their possessions in varying states of serenity.  A tinted light through unfiltered eyes now furnishing sun and warmth to raise the levels above 49F.  Walk freely and tall to the water's edge and survey the surroundings.  It's not always what you see but sometimes what you don't. 

CHANNEL:  Low tides no longer the main issue of contention as they contain enough aqua to provide an adequate foundation.  Scintillating swell we do not have.  We still must contend with only mediocre NW windswell as the in-between days from summer into fall continue.  Knee-cappers with a measure of smoothness are what we have and what you are welcome to ride. 

PATCH:  It wants to work.  It yearns to break.  It desires to fold.  It efforts relentlessly.  It has marginal SW swell of lessor stature though decent wave period.  It needs more water and a touch more energy.  It is beautiful to behold yet failing to deliver the goods.  It can be paddled and congregated within.  It is not yielding waves.

The morning belongs to the coyote and his calls ring loud and clear.  The early light is his to own and ours to follow.  Vast expanses of concrete, stone and shell do not deter as the weekend brings faithful sliders in pursuit of one good wave.  Morning beauty beyond the pale of words as the sun crests hilltops and lights the day.  Receding swells and tidal swings make today a puzzle possibly worth solving or throw the pieces in the air and just dive in. 

CHANNEL:  The lows have some dimension and therefor offer a glimmer of initial hope.  Still stunted on the northern energies and more water is required.  It is currently the only offering to choose from and will soon reach max capacity judging from the parking lot activities. 

PATCH:  Yes to optimism with a new-ish SW blip on the buoys.  No to low tide action which is only suitable for toe braking and fin raking.  Maybe to mid day submission under just the right water levels.

Early hints of morning Fall in the air with temp dropping down to 45F.  Cool, clear and crisp with far reaching visuals and a touch of NW wind on the neck.  Everything scales back for the moment as we await full seasonal changes.  Today one must make do with what you have and accept the meager rations.  Low tides not granting enough and high tide too much, so finding the balance is key as always.  Only NW windswell to promote wave reactions and initially the offerings are only in fractions. 

CHANNEL:  Low tide still a factor in getting your morning off to a surfy start.  Unconventional methodologies must be employed in order to get a briny bath.  Try the litmus configuration or wait for the incoming tide to engage more water.  Shifted sands have re-engaged a portion of Mali-Bo and that may be the get-me-by today. 

PATCH:  It's a strange pursuit.  Making my mind up.  While it lies in little pieces.  It's a strange pursuit.  But you know I'm too frazzled.

An easing that is not pleasing to those making the early slide attempts.  Though the elegance of the morning is enough to keep your attention the lower tides and adjusted swells have not tipped the scales.  Brilliantly clear, lit treetops with nary a drop of moisture or puff of wind.  50F and full sunshine in effect.  Pleasantries are exchanged and for some the hunt continues....

CHANNEL:  Tidal excavation leaves sallow shallows and un-congested arenas.  A smoothness displayed only on the sands as most are exposed and beach walkers outnumber surfers this day.  Positively - the waters will and do return to cover and allow for NW energies to entice or enrage.  Now may be the time for later it will have passed.

PATCH:  Silky, peaceful and fairly flat as mixed adjectives put things in proper perspective.  Transient traces of former S swells may not be enough to jump-start activities here today.  Serenity in mass quantities.  Waves nearly nil.

Daily Surf Report - 9/20/2017

A flop as drops flow out from the sky. Reverse evaporation is upon us and our windshield wipers swipe for one, and one only. Misty, cloudy and a proposal of a break midday with moderate temperatures leave us yearning for the arrival of a Bo-summer. For now opportunities are short, but forget not that relativity is life and if you crouch, the waves are larger. With the S swell disembarking, the NW swell comes to take her place, granting us a long-period and short stay; a change will bring growth.

CHANNEL:  Once more, we do a large swing as tides reach for the sky and slink down to the height of your largest toe hairs. Knee biters are things of dreams as the existence of a proficient medium are unreasonable for now. A jiggle, and a dance later and thou shall breathe in the ceiling of this NW swell. Strength shall come and with it, a build in aerial movement.

PATCH:  A scratch of the chin, a morning bathtub gin and a wave at the shin.  Bodies hug the inside, catching that 5 second wave and a quick paddle back out to do it all again. Consistency exists but expectations of short and small are to be remembered.

Morning brilliance with sun gently rising and a fine cohort cracking the pristine light among the lesser waters.  Water temps remain tepid while early airs dip to 50F and all winds have vanished.  Hints and whispers of new NW energies may not be fully realized within this day.  Waning S activities have no levels upon which to operate but the tide push is coming full force with peaks and valleys to fill.  A endless and open canvas is yours to create upon and only the devoted are in attendance. 

CHANNEL:  Low tide action giving little reaction with water levels so low it barely covers a toe.  Rumors of new NW swell bringing out the anticipatory adventurers but no such luck is to be attained.  Stoke miners will dig deep during the outset of the day but rising tides are on the way and may be the answer to one's prayers. 

PATCH:  Not now but definitely not never.  Weaken S swell and low water levels are not conducive to wave making only fin breaking.  Sip coffee upon a hill.  Enjoy the changing lights and colors over time.  Find your way as only you know how.
