Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” - Michael Jordan

Summer solstice in effect so an opportunity to take advantage of extra daylight during the longest day of the year. Initially we start overcast and at 57F with steady but restrained S winds. Sun has been taking its sweet time making itself known and expectations are the early afternoon hours to visualize. Swells have been recharged overnight but morning low, negative tides crushing the options. It is nebulized reality that must be dealt with accordingly and that requires a waiting period for water re-emergence.

CHANNEL: Emptiness save for the lone marking guardian and his exposed concrete wall. Water too low, no can go but keep an eye on the prize and a nose to the wind as seasonal changes are in the air. Foamie brigade in the froth searching for stoke but finding it in short supply.

PATCH: An abandoned coastline with nary a mariner in sight speaks volumes more than our words here can describe. Impending SW swell due to arrive at any time when water levels are +1

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Always seek out the seed of triumph in every adversity.” - Og Mandino

Stoke potential is palpable based on one’s evening experiences. In the moment we only have ourselves to contemplate inwardly as all water and then some has vacated the premises. The early winds do no favors either though temps have climbed and now reach 57F. A genuine quiet wasteland is revealed in all corners that will last a few hours or more. Research the lunar ebb and flow if you want the best intel on when to strike and achieve total consciousness.

CHANNEL: Depleted, deserted, deteriorated, depressed.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed.” - Henrik Ibsen

Only a light rain falls as we embark upon a mid-week summer morning and new realms to explore. Enough to dampen streets and spirits and cause gutters to flow but more a fine misty veil. Low level cloud cover looks firmly implanted for the next few hours though later sun could be in the mix. The vectors are another story as they blow strongly from the S and join negative forces with early low low tides. A fine morning for breakfast, a leisurely hike, quiet meditation and turning the pages of good literature. The passing of time will allow change and also a tidal fill which should facilitate the slides you seek.

CHANNEL: Long, long stretches of wet sand in all directions accounted for. Secondary NW swell unable to perform even routine maneuvers under negative tide conditions. Rumors of the MaliBo bar return are closer to reality then one might surmise but it will take into the afternoon hours to see it come to fruition. As is the custom, water levels always dictate what stoke will be found, so be mindful and careful with your approach. As the day grows longer look for an increase in potential forms and craft upon them.

PATCH: No water, no waves, no bueno.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs.” - Zig Ziglar

Misty haze floating from atmospheric pressure above as dawn breaks to summertime gray. Gone are the school bus pick ups and hurried commuters for relaxed schedules are in play. Court side seating open and waiting for visitors pending on swell arrival. Tides swinging with two doors open hoping for a clear view. Through the gates to serenity we enter calming the soul and spirit. Vast sand stretching to the horizon creating footprints in the sand left and right towards a journey unknown.

CHANNEL: Calmer winds this morning, though patterns remain visible on the oceans surface. Negative low tide in full effect this morning with granular sand landscaping near and far. NW swell playing hard to get resulting in crumbling ankle nippers with not enough push to slide. As tide fills in later this afternoon, forward ocean motion movement seems possible. For now take a walk on the wild side.

PATCH: Let it flow, let yourself go. Slow and low that is the tempo.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” - T.S. Elliot

Early morning fox howling alarms breaks dawns silence revealing thick gray overlay and dewy moisture. An strong easy breeze lightly tickling tree limbs waking morning songbirds into flight. Cool to begin at 54 with temps rising to 67 before sundown. Parking wide open as most have other plans of work intentions to kick start the week. The lucky few gather with campers in tow to begin an adventure for this first week. Excited nervousness and controlled chaos commences to carry on for eight weeks. Summer time is officially here!

CHANNEL: SE onshore wind playing ruffled and muffled games with the incoming NW swell. Seasick ocean motion rolling in the shin height with white caps on the horizon. The marker pole stands tall as tide is running low in the sand. So far the S swell reading is all but an urban myth much to the dismay of many. No one out any where at current time.

PATCH: Rocky beginnings lead the path to flocks hunting and pecking for morning morsels. Feathers blowing backwards with bobbing motions as most gather at the meeting rock for stability. Tiny lines roll past giving hope to those who stand on shore. Time is of the essence and the time is definitely not now. With another look this afternoon, all questions will be answered.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Holy Toledo!” - Jeff Holden

Heavy fog lingers and moistens the morning, keeping the sun out. Morning lows are challenged by the Sunday stoke of a handful of weekend warriors. To the fathers of today, we thank you for all you have done. Thank you for the fishing trips, the camping, the love, and the dedication. But we can also say that today, a legend was born. Take time to appreciate and celebrate those around you.

CHANNEL: Negative low morning tide has water washed out and coming back in no hurry. One man seeks solidarity and finds it here, along with non existent and un-surfable conditions. With temps in the low 50F’s and no morning swell, we sit and wonder “why?” But maybe they are asking, “Why not?”

PATCH: Low tide has little to offer, with swell dwindling and little water movement. Half a dozen bobbers float and stand on the water. Maybe they know the secrets, maybe they are just happy to be here. Let songs of well wishes fill the air as we carry on in search of bigger and better things. Let us grow to know ourselves and one another. Acknowledge your father figure and be grateful for anything and all things given.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The world owes you nothing. It was here first.” - Mark Twain

A nettled chill with add-ons as moisture fills the air and SE winds swirl. Deep cloud cover, just off the deck, and best suited for burrowing deep within the blankets if your day permits. Fragments and swell miscellany keep the stoke warriors seeking as the early low tide welcomes the dawn. Temps may not reach the levels we have recently experienced and the sun remains a mystery for now. Know the tide and bide your time if you wish to slide at all today.

CHANNEL: An unexpected smoothness in the early hours while the vectors spin above. Low tide dredgers just off the Groin pole have loggers in motion with little commotion. A trio calls this home while others claim next game under higher water levels. It exists and therefore so do you.

PATCH: The waters have receded and now begin to find their way back to heights above zero. The truly determined or those possessing paddles will be the only ones in pursuit of breakers lacking in both quantity or quality as the swell does not abide here. More water can only help the cause which may be beyond repair this day.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” - Winston Churchill

Leaden mist verging on rain as we re-engage with flannels and beanies. Deep grey holds court while we greet Friday morning. Temp a mild 55F with ESE winds that may allow us to examine some sun later in the day. Though the potential for stoke is palpable, morning low tides doing no favors and limiting action. Most pay no heed, however, as a parade in and out of still waters continues unabated. Those who can locate the time and place may reap later benefits, but that remains to be seen.

CHANNEL: A calmness rarely seen as eyes turn towards the marker. A quietude the main offering as the day is slow to jump start. A multitude of varying sliders engaged in an endless waiting game for breakers yet unformed. Ripples are occurring but of small consequence and diminished energy. Though less slides than expected are being had the incoming tide may lend a helpful hand in the matter and rejuvenate the field of play.

PATCH: Those doing so are engaging only for the sake of doing so, as shapes and silhouettes are lacking. The determined will mine the resources for stoke and salt but the yield leaves much to be desired. Increasing water levels may bring with it potential, but those moments lie in a hazy future.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Self-trust is the first secret to success.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Back to summer basics with overcast skies and moist SE winds. Temp a significant drop down to 58F with mild 70s in the forecast. While the atmosphere may beg one to stay in bed and find a cool stillness, the seafaring heart has other intentions. Scattered open parking and the neoprene clad regulars stride off into the murk at all measures. S and SW swells emerging from the funk may lend themselves to promises yet fulfilled but initially temper your expectations. Heed the time to allow for a calming of the vectors and some maturation within the seas.

CHANNEL: A single log bobs and weaves among the early rising tide. Only with great patience are slides being taken from this bounty. Shapes of note are largely absent with only quiet offerings observed. As water levels contain to add the wall rebounds fundamentally change both the perception and reality of all breakers destined for the interior of the Channel. Those seeking solace may apply here.

PATCH: The tribe is called and gathered here this fine morning though the contributions are currently minor. The tide plays to one’s favor today with standardized water levels rising to the strengths of the Patch. A eye for detail will locate the better breakers to savor and slide. Find your time and pick a line before the crowd grows too thick. What is possible is what is done - nothing more.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail.” - Charles Kettering

A promised respite from the intense heat as the day starts under streaked blue skies and full beams. Temp already 72F and nary a breath of wind. All the makings for a beautiful summer day are in the blender and ready to whirl. Tide pushing up and resuming moderate intervals which allows for attempting slides at all points along the clock. Light swells in the water making the pre-surf check one of crucial determination as what you seek to feed your needs is out there somewhere.

CHANNEL: Insider lefts currently providing the most shapely breakers though quality still leaves much to be desired. Closeout vibes seem to be the dominant paradigm in the early hours. Directly out front the boat ramp again benefits from moving sand and has caught the eye of some beach combers. A journey to Seadrift looks to lend more size to the equation with results indeterminate due to small sample size. Space is the place, just need to find the particular space.

PATCH: A patchwork of the usual suspects relies on instinct and muscle memory to garner slides in shifty conditions. A solid outside shape can be enjoyed, but timing and placement is key. Enjoy it now or wait for the late day sun aura for an experience best described as magical.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.” - Vince Lombardi

Chippering feathered friends spreading the daily news breaking the silence over our sleepy town. Cooler temps a welcomed feeling this morning, yet slightly higher than usual. A warm 61 to commence with anticipated highs hovering at 79. Tidal swings resuming back to ebb and flow at customary levels throughout the day. Parking is full with morning travelers seeking cooler weather and shelter from the heat. With itchy eyes, runny noses and sneezes the sweet smell of summer time is in the air and so is the faintest hint of swell.

CHANNEL: Outgoing tide easing back gently as the sun shines brightly. S swell beginning to arrive bringing waves to the pole in the knee height with more energy than we have seen in days. Sea Drift side clocking in mid-thigh on the sets to the right. Currently two prone paddlers out having fun as 10 others are suiting up anxiously hurrying up to join.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Warm summer sun, shine kindly here.” - Mark Twain

Glowing hillsides, golden yellow the rising sun casts its shadows blanketing morning warmth. Relief from the broken heat a short term remedy as we prepare for higher climbing temperatures on the thermometer by mid-day. Records to be set, at an all time high reaching 86 by the seaside with a warm start currently at 70. Tidal swings inching back until noon as we chase the waters edge back and forth. Mass chaos dissipated from weekends activities, leaving more open spaces than not. The countdown is officially on, with three days left until summertime freedom!

CHANNEL: Crispy dehydrated sand stretching far crunching under foot with every forward step. Hazy daze of summer time sun reflecting off the still ocean surface in the Channel. NW swell lethargic and lazy with a mellow center ruffled current. Slow motion movement rolling forward in the shin height. Best to wait till late afternoon for the incoming tide and bring the longest sled in your quiver. The bigger the better.

PATCH: Half a bakers dozen bobbing around watching container ships pass by on the horizon with nothing else much to do. One ankle high ride counts as a session for today’s tally.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Happiness is a decision.” - Michael J Fox

Runners on the ready, taking their marks and setting their sights on finishing the Dip Sea race throughout the day. All the while, cars start and stop in an endless traffic abyss trying to inch closer to the sea. A wave of heat climbing high with little relief by the sea as temps are maxing out at 79. Tides running low all morning long, an island mirage for those few warriors who have managed to reach it. Practice patience, as parking games are in full swing with few winners at the end. Summer has moved in and is here to stay. So sit back, relax and make sure the gas tank reads full.

CHANNEL: Sand, sand everywhere and no water in sight. NW swell nonexistent in any form, anywhere. Low tide peaking at noon, with a slow steady climb up by evening. At best, slow motion ankle bitters may appear before sunset. Best to update those seasonal pool passes if water relief is what you seek.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Endurance is patience concentrated.” - Thomas Carlyle

Streaked skies with large portions of sun as we give thanks for another day. Though moderate gusts are already in play, they currently blow directly offshore whipping spray and sand under another negative tide morning. Temps have dropped at the outset and register 53F with warmth predicted and likely. Time and tide are the limitations one must overcome as moments of stoke and deliverance may be fleeting. The time is not now, yet possibly later when the morning hours turn past noon and the waters refill the basin.

CHANNEL: To attempt slides one must forge over to Seadrift where water depths exist and secondary NW swell can subsist. All other areas along the southern Bo tract are for running canines and surf casters only. All waters have vacated the premises and the winds have whipped a froth not of pleasure but one of dismay. Nothing is absolute and in a matter of hours a palpable change will be in effect.

PATCH: If sight can be trusted then believe what visions your eyes are transmitting. Every and all rocks are exposed, tide pools contain the deepest waters and the only movement of consequence is well outside the meeting rock. Still traces of a S swell for magnetized regions but the afternoon will be the only hours under which breakers are achievable.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” - Henry David Throeau

Curated and consistent sunshine within cornflower blue skies. Beaming rays of vitamin D for everyone and temp climbing the ladder of warm while currently on the 60F rung. Low velocity winds are keeping it all tamped down and under control. Tide pooling conditions in full effect as football field sized exposures of damp sand stretch in every direction one’s gaze can see. Look towards the post lunch hours into evening if you seek solace, stoke or serenity, for that is where it may be found when the tides return in earnest.

CHANNEL: We will forgo conventional terms of Groin, Channel and Boat Ramp this fine morning as none exist in their proper forms. Only residual waters left behind lend a hint to the lower undulations and the capacity to create under differing circumstances. The simple equation solved is that less than no water = less than no waves. Problem answered with full credit. Check back in the PM hours when all results will be blind posted.

PATCH: Levels beyond low reveal all that exists beneath and then some. Exposed crags and crevices hold secrets unknown just now seeing the light of day. Exploration into the world below is worth the time and contemplation as the Patch will not giveth anything fruitful for quite some time today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“I can’t go back to yesterday - because I was a different person then.” - Lewis Carroll

All clouds and mists have vanished leaving a bright sun to beam down. Temp locked in at 62F and climbing while the inland empires bake and sizzle. Winds are but a memory as are sea levels which have drained below the horizon. Surf castings the most visible action along the shore with sand islands and esteros clearly visible. Chances for enlightenment and total consciousness lie in the afternoon hours if one is grateful for the contributions the ocean makes known.

CHANNEL: Nothing save for sand and pools where residual waters have collected while the majority shrinks back to the depths. Visibility and walking paths across the canal to Seadrift and beyond. The lack of a vital element in the breaker composition has this zone shut down until after brunch, if not beyond.

PATCH: The faithful and blindly obedient make their way outside to the Meeting Rock and further. The reasoning is simple - water exists here in tolerable levels and a small but active S swell can find it. As the tide continues to fill in the midlands should offer enough to make one’s heart sing a joyous melody. For now the inside only proffers wishful thinking and strewn rocks.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Different is good. When someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up and be proud.” - Angelina Jolie

Iridescent gray with streaks of blue poking through as the rising sun shines on. Woolly visitors have returned eating their weight in grass through the outskirts of town chatting along the way. Temps cool at 54, climbing to a perfect 72 afternoon beach day. Vast and open sandy shore as far as the eye can see as water laps along the edges. Playful pups beg for tennis balls while playing tag with seagulls as owners power walk in toe. By the wall, the statuesque lady resides high on her throne for all to see.

CHANNEL: Undercover no more, the wall to the pole stands proud. High negative low tide in full effect creating an almost perfect path to Sea Drift. Water levels too low for the NW swell to get through as waves meander their way at big toe height. No one out as they currently wait for more water to flow. Practice patience.

PATCH: Afternoon delights being served as a specialty on today’s menu as the establishment is closed for service for now. Take care of the honey-do’s this morning while you are waiting, for this afternoon will be where it’s at.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“None of us understand what we’re doing, but we do beautiful things anyway.” - Allen Ginsberg

Overlay gray mixed with misting droplets blankets the sky above our tiny town. An easy breeze dances through trees and hanging flags flutter about. Construction and pavement equipment occupy prime parking on the ready for work to begin. Empty court side spaces leave traces of beach time fun of yesterday. A calm and cool 52 to begin with hopes of partial sun and rising temps to 62 by late afternoon. The main greeter, a vast and empty sandy shore stretching far and wide with the negative low tide, welcomes those who wander to take a look and see. Scratching heads turned sideways pondering what to do.

CHANNEL: Negative tide not working in anyone’s favor with the NW swell. The pole is fully extended with sand all around, as seagulls hunt and peck. Not much current flowing as water is missing from the usual spaces. If time is on your side, practice patience and hold out till afternoon with the rising tide.

PATCH: Prime time for crystal energy cleansing. Create your safety circle, gather your intentions and arrange accordingly. Take in a deep breathe, relax fully and exhale. Draw a mental picture of desire and as afternoon approaches, more answers than questions.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” - Confucius

Gray sprinkles casting wet shadows, as we officially welcome back Summer’s June gloom. Slick streets hissing underneath treads as dawn breaks to a sunless morning. A mild feeling 54 as temps not reaching past 57 for a beach time high. A menagerie collective scattered about, each on separate journeys. Some venture south in the wee morning, some stay warm under covers and the few curious make the journey filled with hope to satisfy their craving and hunger for a meal to feel their soul. A thoughtful choice to be made, not rushed, in current conditions.

CHANNEL: What swell once was, is now all but gone and lost. NW swell showing no signs of life with the current incoming tide. Ruffled and textured from overnight wind patterns as ocean motion rolls in at ankle height. So far, no takers.

PATCH: Two bobbing standing paddlers out searching for something, no one else can see. A mystery unsolved for today as the cliff hanger wins. Best to stay put inside for now and let the heat pump wattage into your cottage.
