Daily Surf Report - 12/7/2012

Positive Forecast:
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF REPORT

Through early next week: High pressure starts to build today bringing back some nicer weather with a possibility for offshore winds and warmer temps through the weekend. Fetch in the Gulf of Alaska is going to generate some overlapping mid-period NW (300-320) swells. The first pulse should be building today and then size looks like its going to hold for the most part in the chest to overhead range with periods around 10-12 seconds maybe slightly backing off through Sunday. Another pulse (300-320) will build Sunday bringing wave heights back into the chest to overhead range along the top exposed spots. Size will probably taper as you travel down the Central Coast due to the steep NW angle. Factors coming into play: E-NE morning winds followed by stronger N-NW afternoon winds, steep angle, 10-12 second periods.

Sun and surf on this beautiful December morning in Bolinas. Low level fog in the valleys but clear skies and no wind. A bit chilly at 43F but high pressure will bring afternoon temps into the 60s. Ocean has settled down and sand has reformed the bars. Nice day to come out to the beach and yes there are some waves to ride. Boat ramp has lots of nooks, crannies, holes and exposed rebar so tread lightly and watch your step.

CHANNEL: A bit confused on the Groin side at tide heads out. Bar may need a bit more reforming time. Best action deep in the Channel and over towards Seadrift where there are about 8 surfers and a few SUPs. Wave height thigh to waist and miscellaneous peaks going right and left. Mali-BO leftovers for the moment as well.

PATCH: Grinders in the thigh high range breaking outside and rolling along smoothly. Small but clean and good for the big board as per usual. Mostly rights with an ocassional left to ride. All but one rock is covered up and tide is outgoing. Get your log out and cruise here. Currently 10 in the water.

We still have a few open spots in our next 2 Intermediate Surf Clinics happening on Saturday 12/8/2012 and 12/15/2012. All the details are HERE and signups are online through our schedule.
