Welcome to 2013! Top o' the dog and hair of the morning to everyone. Clear, sunny and brisk at 40F with swirling winds. Beautiful start to the New Year. New dose of NW swell not exactly translating to epic conditions in town this morning but lots of raw energy out there today. Toss your cares into the sideshore winds and RESOLVE. A cold dip in the ocean will cure all your ills.
Again, a high incoming tide is coming later in the day so please be mindful when entering/exiting the water as one should keep there eyes open and head on a swivel when traversing the boat ramp (be aware of the incline, holes and exposed rebar)... and yes we do have in-house ding repair if needed.
CHANNEL: Mostly pieces and parts. Lumpy, bumpy and sections all over. Like great grandma's mashed potatoes. Occasionally a smooth one that found some extra butter comes through. Overall worth 1 helping. Middle Bar and Groin Pole and Seadrift all about waist high. Shallow inside due to sand movement out of the boat channel causing most of the waves to fold over or just dump without much riding area. Maybe more water will help here and tide peaks in the early afternoon.
PATCH: Still have thigh/waist high rollers but not clean or consistent. Some want to break but don't and others break then section out or die. Still have logs and SUPs in the water looking for the magic ride and tide covers all rocks today. A decent place to start your surfing year off.
