Daily Surf Report - 3/15/2013

In-store Shaper Event:
David Vernor, the man behind Vernor surfboards, will be in the shop this Saturday, 3/16/2013, from 10am to 12pm. This is a great opportunity to talk boards and design with a local shaper. Dave will bring a few new shapes including the Pitbull and Silver Bullet 2. Come by to talk surf or browse the rack of in-stock boards. We have Mini Simmons, shortboards, hybrids, eggs, Mini-Mals, HP longboards and Classic Noseriders in the shop. Always hand-made from start to finish in Santa Cruz.

We start the morning with light fog, no sun and light to nil E winds. Air temp is mild at 50F and the day has potential to warm up nicely. Little combo swell from the NW and SW giving us some buoy readings of 3' @ 18 secs which will give us some waves to ride. Tide just bottomed out and is switching. Incoming tide brought waves yesterday with the little extra water and push. Longboardable only but there was something worth putting on a wetsuit for. Great day for beginnners and log afficionados as well.

CHANNEL: Low tide has it shut down now but over on Seadrift the rights are working a bit and will improve with the incoming tide and more water. Yesterday did deliver rideable waves in this area while the Channel stayed mostly flat. Give it a look and dont fear the crossing paddle. Size looks to be thigh to almost waist high. Lots of beach and sand bars exposed.

PATCH: Smooth and glassy outside peaks. Small and loggable and size probably goes thigh high +. 3 of the morning crew usual suspects have watched it long enough and are now putting on suits to surf it. Grab the big big board and glide the morning away. Incoming tide with cover the exposed rocks but that will take a while.

PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Respect the Beach.
