A quiet sunlight begins to shine through wisps of fog and confusion as we greet another chilly morn in the village. The seas, though missing the heaving chaos of the previous days, still seem tainted, as if a dime found in a storm drain. Even routes of approach and ascent must be weighed carefully, as a roster of brave souls are fighting a losing battle as we speak. The mighty zephyrs blow calmly now, but as day makes it's journey forward this shall not remain so. Caveat Emptor.....


CHANNEL: A true gumbo of sand, closeout specials, and a rare peeler of quality. A baker's dozen of the astute position themselves here, there, and everywhere, from Seadrift danglers to seawall anglers,  all assured in  the knowledge that theirs' is indeed the best approach. Join the fray and pay to play...


PATCH:  Limber shoulders and a strong constitution should be in one's beach bag if the Patch is on the menu this day, as those with paddle in hand carry a distinct advantage. Well beyond rocks of meeting, shapes are fleeting, and time is running out. One observes frustration and exhaustion rather the elation seeking sedation as weary faces exit whitewater places, and plead for bitter ends....

Heavy clouds linger over the town with darkness. Cold and dark is the morning with rain to come soon. What's left of the swell is cast with a spell of a storm. Choppy and messy with a slight hint of menace.
 
CHANNEL: No residents currently inhabit due to incoming tide, sloppy and floppy and sloppy.

Welcoming warbles as moderating NW/SW swells are on the ascend.  Invasive vagabonds have parking locked up and shut down tight.  Positive factors in play are an incoming tidal push with morning coastal fog keeping the winds at bay.  Bolts of sunshine are beginning their penetration and will soon have things warmed up.  Surfaces are polished, tranquil and inviting.  Loggable and lovable as we cherish the Spring moments in all their categorical clarity.  Join the fray and play nice. 
 


 CHANNEL: Seemingly quiet and the current domain of the paddling tribunal.  Periodic pulses send deeper Channel peaks from the depths to rise and deliver glassy nugs in the knee high + stature.  For now an inviting inner right along the Mali-Bo region has less size but maintains conclusive shape to allow for slides.  Already soft, the tide peak will likely render this area formless and flat.    
 


PATCH:  Right directed curls are cresting, peeling, wheeling and reeling as the ocean gives the people what they want and what they need.  Alluring to behold and drawing a maximal crowd of the early hour attendees.  Smooth and succulent slides are being savored as toe tipping trips to the nasal province are becoming the norm.

Though our day starts beautifully crisp and clear you will need a bit of the Irish luck to find unlimited joy upon our ocean waters on this lovely day.  Wind swells and flat spells are the recent norm as leprechaun sized surf is in the current offering.   Spring breakers grab the dawn by the neck in an attempt to squeeze all the life out.  Deep breaths and hot black tea before any strenuous activity is highly recommended.  
 


 CHANNEL: An early pushing right forcing its way into Mali-Bo is likely to soon vanish as the tide begins to recede.  All that remains will be a cat and mouse waiting game in an attempt to locate minor wind-swell lefts - if they appear.  
 


PATCH:  A palpable pause upon the waters as no blip is detected.  Outgoing tide may later reveal lunchtime desserts but the morning sustenance is lacking.

The kind of morning where Spring must be on the horizon, but the mercury tells you it's not here yet. Parking has gone the way of the Dodo, although for what reason, one cannot say.

El Nino rages on dumping rain and dousing stoke.  Swollen waterways are brimming with significance and may soon unleash their boiling contents.  Abominable wind forces move solid objects horizontal rather than vertical as the gales pulse and push to their own desire.  Patholigical peepers scan horizons looking for windows of opportunity which remain firmly closed, and with good reason, this day.

  

CHANNEL: Clearly an area devoid of human occupants and a hybridized mix of churned and frothy failure.  Ravaged, savaged and unfit for sliding pursuits.  Those desperate to get wet can just step outside and feel as though the world is closing down.

A chill of merit and strength hangs about, long overstaying it's welcome. Wisps of fog dissipate into a sunlit nothing as the breezes blow gentle, for now. Incoming waters and incoming storms will determine what doorways and windows shall be traveled through this day. Conditions, at present, may have reached today's apex, as several dozen optimists take to heaving seas and seek fortune, if not fame. Decide what to be and go be it.

  

CHANNEL: Seas drift towards Seadrift and take a dozen or so along for the ride. Many are called, few gain slides, most will sit and bob as it is a time of the inbetweens. Far outside rights give just enough promise to spur action and anticipation,but like the siren's call, most will find only heartbreak and isolation.


PATCH:  Dubious points of entry bring to mind hazardous border crossings and briny teeth flossing as being swept under is observed with more frequency than slides and rides. Those with paddle in hand seem to have the upper hand, until they don't, at which point they suffer the similar fate. Chopped salad for all, luncheon is served.

Debris of trees cover the roads and water is seen rushing through the creek beds. A windswept mess is what is left after a night of stormy weather. The sun is shining but more rain is expected to arrive in the near hours of the day. Choppy and sloppy is the surf but make what you can of it.
  


CHANNEL: Very sloppy with only some inconsistent waist high rollers coming in at decent speed but possibly too choppy to make much of it. A small crowd paddles out to sit and try and stay in one place, currents running strong this morning.

Sour settings as the skies unfold to unleash a new downpour.  Southerly wind flow is a partner in this latest tempest and ocean conditions are a bit on the choppy / sloppy side.  Combo-ed up with an unruly high tide has the morning seekers scurrying for cover in an effort to keep feet dry while assessing the muddled offerings.  Hospitable temps already at 59F with many rain hoods and boots in play.  Heroic sliders are on the search.  Success or failure is just moments away as the heavy stuff is coming down.

Steamy and dreamy as a coalescing mist moistens the trails.  Gales remain on the margins though ready to blow SW gusts and shred the scene.  Now we show a rather smooth countenance with generous helpings of ocean swell attempting to refract and structure.  High tide keeping it fluid though heavy dumpers are threading their way through to land upon the ramp region.   While conditions prevail it is surfable though not optimally formed.  More inclement weather is on the way so get in while you can.



CHANNEL: Conceptually correct yet not yielding all the required results.  Large NW swell cresting today though fighting through morning hide tide to make its presence known.   Some smooth faces appear within the mist with many backing off and some allowing drops and turns for those with active shoulders.  What breeches and breaks has girth and capacity all the way up to shoulder level.
