Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I can resist everything except temptation." - Oscar Wilde

Deepening S winds shred the scene as fog coats the mountaintops.  Temp in at 56F but the sun has tapped out for the day.  Dreary and leery as waves being sought will be hard to come by today.

CHANNEL: Chipped and chopped as wind-whipped waves tend to be.  Meager offerings upon a harsh landscape.

PATCH: Desolate, bare and reeking with desperation.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"We build too many walls and not enough bridges." - Isaac Newton

As none dare to test the blown out waters, it is clear that today may be a waiting game. With a thick abundance of fog and swirling winds, there is little for the taking. Although an empty lineup is a gift, this gift is one to be wary of.

CHANNEL: Although not much to give currently, it should be picking up in the later hours. With the wind it appears blown out and appears unpromsing for the hopeful. The beast is tamed but still ugly.

PATCH: Nothing again. More of a waiting game than anything else.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela

A moment is all it takes to see what is before you, in this case anyway. Fog has consumed the coast and the water is still. Only do gulls populate the patch and hardy any at that. If you have plans of surfing it is a good day to snuggle up with your hot coffee and wait until the late morning or early afternoon.

CHANNEL: Serenity seekers drift to nowhere as they sit still in the channel. Slight movement around ankles but no more and sometimes less.

PATCH: Absolutely nothing. Try wait.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Sometimes all you need is to find the feeling of infinity, take it, and just keep chasing it with every morning." - Anonymous

Take a moment to stop and enjoy the day how you really want. As small crowds gather, the ones who show are the ones with the reward. Sunlight breaks through open cloud and dances on the water. Almost like a postcard, the black silhouettes move lethargically with hints of pure stoke. With no wind and a mild tide, many who come, are pleased with what has been brought to the table.

CHANNEL: The paddlers are treated with a line up with limited to few. As small rollers shuffle in, not many are left to sit but left to take what they can get before the summer fleet arrives. With such on the horizon, there is certainly more promise. As dancing beams of light tinker around the current crew, it seems as if content is the feeling.

PATCH: Much like a very flat and classically empty pancake without any chocolate chips or cinnamon-roll glaze. Although promise lies in the future, the present and low tides much resemble this magical invention.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The best way to predict the future is to create it." - Peter Drucker

Monumental day as boys become men and take big plunges.  The potential is unlimited, untapped and unknown yet full of boundless energy and joy.  The palpable excitement makes up for current morning surf conditions which can be considered lackluster in the present moment.  Swells from a wind-driven NW direction and a SW groundswell are still in play but have diminished overnight and have languid water levels upon which to contrive their motions.  Still opportunities to get wet and the tidal swing will change all aspects for the better.

CHANNEL: As the tide continues its plunge to low we are left with few prospects save for the bars directly in front of the boat ramp.  This mini bump continues to deliver lurching lefts though at a modest size relative to a human thigh.  Other areas suffer from the low water effects and are beaten into submission with a Dragon Sleeper Hold.  A small grouping of like minded individuals have made this zone their morning meeting space though more sitting than surfing has been observed.

PATCH:

No one can get at you
If you're caught on a wave
Fractured knees, calamities
Enfold me in serenity

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine." - Anthony J. D'Angelo

Point to the four corners of the squared circle and you will find a worthy adversary.  Modest but holding NW windswell continues to give forth while a precious SW swell shimmies up the coast and has landed.   Foggy, damp and drizzly not dissuading the truly committed and those that should be from venturing out and suiting up.  Lots of festivities in the upcoming days and this is a solid way to kick things off.

CHANNEL: With a dropping tide and light SW winds we are seeing how the elemental effects cause rapid changes upon our waters.  Starting to get a bit ragged in the Channel proper but bars out in front show a smoother countenance though at a lesser size.  Still lefts are in the offering and on the higher tide during the later part of the day were near EPIC conditions - yesterday

PATCH: With the low tide ranging to just sea level some rocks remain below the surface though lurking all the same.  A full SW swell is developing from an evening visitor to a weekend house-guest.  A fair distance must be traveled to access the cargo and this voyage is being currently undertaken by a small tribe of paddle wieldersFear not mortals as the inside segments will soon have enough water both above and below to allow for access.  It's an all ages show - everybody is coming.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"
A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Coastally cloudy with layered skies.  Less general fog and temp chimes in at 56F to start the day.  Periods of sun are likely though not until the latter part of the day.  A deepening of thoughts and swell as both the SW and NW collaborators delve to deliver.  Though tides remain below low and will require hours of patience to return that is not stopping a resolved crew from suiting up and seeking stoke.

CHANNEL: Again we see an uncovered Groin and all its merits on full display.  NW windswell grasping to all sandbars in hopes of finding suitable depths upon which to unfurl some curls.  A stage is being set for an afternoon recital.

PATCH: All obligatory rocks exposed and exhibited as tide drops to its true low.  Precursor SW swell sentinels look to be attempting action.  Well beyond the meeting rock is where most bob and begin. Inside knee high no tide drainers look welcoming and dangerous at the same time.

"You cannot open a book without learning something." - Confucius

Overcast and deep fog that lifts with time to reveal the day.  Temperate at 57F with chill pockets along the way causing bundling and heat seeks.  Faint remnants of swell attempt movement upon negative water levels with predictable results.  Time and tide will rule the day as swings are significant and have great capacity to cause change.

CHANNEL: A fully exposed Groin wall + pole bear witness to the carnage upon the sea.  Less than expected and dashing all hopes for now.

PATCH: Seemingly a worthy destination for those lugging logs along.  Ready, willing and able bodied individuals will take this plunge among rock and stone with little left to the imagination.

The air is moist and salty as the coastal fog lingers. Cold morning temperatures have us all bundled up and praying for summer sunshine. The water is moving but never the way we would hope. Small and choppy all around and only luck can bring us what we expect.

Quiet tides and sandy skies fill the balmy air. Paddlers are the most successful although some struggle in the land of flat. It seems as though going out would be a questionable move as some move on. Tides might bring more swell although waiting can be just as plentiful. High fog rolls along, hoping to stop over slo-bo as a symbol of the mid.

CHANNEL: Flat and foggy, only some choose this as their haven although sometimes more frustrating than fun. Scrappy like a young buck, but still available for use, the funky ones that ride are the ones going out with the tide.

PATCH: The gathering has grown since yesterday. Although small and playful, some of the adventure-ees take on the slow life. Some catch some as others catch none, it is no surprise they all come here.

Turn your dial from serious to fun. With little to give, the ones who experiment have only but to let go. The balmy feel makes it seem heavy and the hills in the long forgiving background feel the same. Some turn, not wanting what is given, but some venture out in hopes of joining the hopeful.

CHANNEL: No one complains because no one is there. literally. Though shallow breaks quick, and learners may thrive, there is no luck for the fools. Although promising tides are awakening, the channel is forgiving, and may serve well in the future.

PATCH: Although more people gather here, it seems as though it is more of a standing community rather than a surf spot. Glassy and smooth, little rumbles through, but hopes are alive.

A slightly dormant morning as light fog swirls.  A day with possibilities lurking at every turn.  Again we find no wind and silky ocean surfaces upon which to attempt to obtain stoke.  We'll see the sun today and some warmth as well though current temps ring in at 54F.  NW swell encounters still the daily special with more bars feeling the vibe and good times.  Morning low tides now easing back and filling in with ample water levels present throughout the day.

CHANNEL: Mini micro movements at many points on the dial as a slightly steeper angle causes rollers some reason to break.  Knee cracking lefts spin freely and unoccupied in the very early hours.  Cylinders of doom on a very miniature scale.  Mali-Bo rights still have all systems a go but a weakening of energy has this down in size as well.  A righteous and worthy option considering the choices.

PATCH: Slight southern rumblings but nothing to activate the coconut wireless.  Smooth and nearly level with the infrequent hiccup after a lengthy lull period.  More tide + time should assist.

Serene and slightly slick as dense fog leads to deep thoughts.  Currently no sun, no wind and 54F.  A mid-level NW swell still finding purchase upon our waters and the incoming tide always glad to lend a helping hand.  Follow the squad to the water's edge but from there find your own way.  Do not be misled or misguided as the obvious often isn't.

CHANNEL: A contrast of styles as left is wrong and right is correct.  Mali-Bo breakers have all parameters met and exhibit rides of length into the Channel mouth.  Size has come down since last night but still will range up to one's thigh+.  A tricky little devil with shifty takeoff zones and warbles along the way.  Once you have unlocked the secrets it will morph again.

Glassy and sassy with few undulations as we assess from bluffs under overcast skies.  Temps range in at 55F and winds are light to non-existent.  A contemplative scenario with rising tides and lessening swell.  A snap decision must be made to delve forth or retreat.  All dilemmas have benefits - depending on the choice you make.

CHANNEL: The sandbars are set and known to be working.  The swell direction from the NW is correct though the energy is lacking.  The water levels are rising which has capacity to swamp the scene.  A now or never judgment is upon us.

Thick fog casting shadows of doubt as we delve deep into the middle of the week.  Sun lurks just out of reach and only minutes down the road as heat waves cook the inland empires.  Swells with westerly persuasions are provided with adequate water levels and minor moments of stoke can be obtained.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Hope at least gives you the option of living." - Harry Nilsson

Gloomy blanket of grey covers this little hamlet as hopes for sunbeams lurks just past the lagoon. A remnant of what was and dreams of what will be is the story of the day. The ocean breathes slowly as she slowly sinks lower till later this morning and the wind wisps from the SE, keeping many along the seawall sipping their morning joe.  A few brave souls have ventured out regardless, paving the way for the rest of us later today.

CHANNEL: Small rollers peeling through the 2 log lineup with just a bit of texture warding off the crowd. Sandbars look to almost be exposed, but don't let that stop you as small lines still roll in

"SUP dude?" remarked the logger snidely as two opposing watercraft fight for what little is on offer. Mostly flat with a wave or two for those who are content to wait. A little more water later today should bring about more hope, though beware of the afternoon winds!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The future will either be green or not at all." - Bob Brown

Starfish and coffee.  Moonbeams as we wake from dreams with more vim than vigor.  A smattering of swell remains though angles of inception have slightly changed.  Drained out tide halting some in their tracks while others forge blindly ahead in an effort to get their exercise in patience accomplished.  Wisps of fog already burning off and warmth on the agenda for this weekend.  Learn it, know it, live it.

CHANNEL: Less water and less waves upon ripped surfaces.  Sand churned and sunburned expanses as dead low tide approaches.  Some gaze / some go / all ultimately benefit in some minor way.  Diminutive will be the key word for the immediate future as swells of consequence are not upon these waters presently.
Charles Jefferson and little brother - 2 for Earth Wind and Fire.

PATCH:
Sun salutations are required as mostly flat surfaces lend credence to those with carbon shafts in their hands.  Extraordinary exertion will be mandatory to gain entry into what arbitrary waves exist.  Afternoon water levels have been adequate but winds have been blowing exponentially hard.  Bring a book to pass the time and look for the small window openings
mid-day.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"
Happiness is the harvest of a quiet eye." - Austin O'Malley

Sun, sand and no wind as a trifecta that really ties the day together.  Still functioning at low tidal level mornings as being furiously discussed atop the seawall.  Logs and stories are at the ready and those that follow Mary's lead may be pleasantly rewarded.  Windswell from the NW and a S swell worth keeping an eye on are the operational parameters upon which to work with today.

CHANNEL: Boat ramp mysto left sparks interest and conjecture as it goes unridden across open seas.  Channel activity are islands in the sun with visible sandbars and pockets of depth.  Groin pole lefts may be an option with a tide change in the positive direction but that won't occur until after the breakfast bell.

PATCH:
Sage wisdom says put on suit and paddle out.  The day beckons with beauty and some S swell salvos may appear or not.  Morning tide levels have dropped to the negative and then below.  Deliver yourself out past the far meeting rock in order to ascertain the situation.  Bring your big board and slip into a glistening peak that may tickle your ankles and rub your sore calves.
