Taking it way back to about last month, we are caked in a morning fog'n'mist, dreaming about warmer days and stronger energy. We got a little bit of this and a tiny bit of that mixing up for a surf in this life - of the variety in short-sweet and do it again. Into the water we go (later) to just appreciate the beginnings of it all. Long, long, and longer work here. Don't be blue, just hop into it.

CHANNEL: Low water leaves this park with low opportunities of rides. Later in the day may provide small slides for practice. Back to Bo-basics.

PATCH:  Nada. No. Negative. Besides some cool parts of earth in different forms, the levels of human activity are down to floating, walking, and mindfulness. Neither are bad, but you don't come here to read about any.

A blue palate fills up our eyes as we drive past the lagoon and down the rabbit hole. Everyday is a school day but for now we know not what we shall learn and instead understand only what has already been obtained through certain pathways. Seeing here is an unknown that is common knowledge. Vanquished are many dreams about a rip and roar but soar to new heights and stay mindful. Stay and float; plan the future.

CHANNEL: A skiddle-dee to a doodle-doo we ain't no humpty dumpty that a wolf on a wall can't possibly fix. Guess again or do a recount. Later, after a morning coffee and some sizzling, sliders or pancakes we may realign our heads and procure some real life information.

PATCH:  Hm. A super duper gloss to sit aboard your board and floss. Low and dreamy. Less to see, more to imagine.

It seems we are back to normal, back to our routine. Morning lows are somewhat familiar here but not always favored. Although the day is dark, beams of light shine down in the distance. Dreams of the sun in those spots spin in our minds. Early risers sneak a peak but are not surprised to find what is presented to them.

CHANNEL: No, no, no. Nothing to see here. Negative tide leaves nothing for those who seek surf. Little ripples can be seen but not ridden, afternoon highs are all we can look forward too as the waiting game is in play. It is suggested that you participate.

PATCH:  A lake. No movement besides a splash here and there. A hang out spot for gulls, not guys nor gals. Try wait.

Eager morning led by a fishing brigade as the low tide draws from all points. Extensive amounts of gear is either being unloaded or overnite dripping.  Pre-dawn parking lot nonsensical convos at volume breaks the peaceful silence.  Temps continuing to remain toasty at 61F under hardened grey skies.  Just the lightest of SW winds for texture.  NW windswell nearly exhausted and S swell showing signs of weakness.  As water levels return to par we should see more surfable options with a large contingent seeking those slides. 

CHANNEL: Lower tides bring no reasonable rides in the early hours of the new day.  Currently sandy islands emerging and rod + reels casting out.  The stripers may be hitting fast and furious but the breakers are not under lacking water levels.  There is still enough energy remaining in the NW windswell but time must pass before you enter.  Seadrift holds deeper secrets and does allow for participation. 

PATCH:  A smooth countenance with little undulation save for well outside in the depths.  Late morning mojo may be the better option when tide levels reach a more positive note.  For now there are breakers but few takers as the day unravels at a slower pace.  Find your mark and set your goals.  Achievement is the journey.

Limitless potential as a new day unfolds.  Circular motion as parking nearly depleted.  Pre-dawn tidal negativity already pushing forth and the pull of the ocean is alive and magnetic.  Mixed and patchy skies showing early hints of blue.  The lightest of winds from the E and temp at 61F.  Steep angled S swell still delivering in periodic bursts while the NW windswell hangs tight and tough.  Ocean temp to match the air.  Be mindful of later tides which will be full and relentless. 

CHANNEL: Breathing though not heaving in lacking water levels.  Smooth surfaces reflecting points of light.  Plenty of W associated with this swell finding purchase and purpose all along the partition of coastline encompassing Seadrift and beyond.  Incoming tide likely to give that extra burst to ramp up the excitement level.  All manner of board riding device can and will be found afloat today. 

PATCH:  Awakened by the low tide and now starting to stretch its limbs.  The steeper angle has deep pulses operating for those up for the long paddle.  Middle grounds not yet encumbered with water levels required but momentarily will be.  Those seeking Serenity need not apply as the crowds are thick and thickening.

Some gusts of wind.  A spritz of rain.  Ocean temps elevate.  Air temps soar up to 64F.  No deterrent to participation levels as expectant sliders arrive in droves.  High overcast above with clear distances abroad.  NW windswell settles and slowly fades.  Steep S swell holds form and function.  Tides full the remainder of the day and expect to do the wall dance either coming or going.  The Feng shui feels alive and harmonized and the day has only just begun.

CHANNEL: Filling tide fulfilling aspirations as lefts lean, lurch and curl over great expanses of sea.  A dividing line keeps the crowd segregated with inside peaks for the meeker scene.  Spread far and wide with Seadrift feeling it and obliging.  Limits can be met and maybe even pushed a notch today.  Size running up to chest high.

PATCH: Engaged with southerly swell energies and pushed forth with a bit of wind this area is alive and well.  Single-fin logs and roaming dogs are causing immediate population growth.  Take a trip to the tip and back again as the platform is sturdy and stable.  Race through the inside as the new tide fills the voids.  Seek the unknown and unlock secrets.

No longer are we awakened to deep settled fog, but rather we are granted the ability to look up and allow our eyes to capture the patched stratus clouds leaking colors of vibrant blue to gift us with the knowledge that today is going to be another glorious day. Looking out to the horizon and far beyond, we are awarded with soft combo-colors of gold, pink, and blue - a palate given to only the early risers and ocean dwellers. Warm temperatures greet us already and the water promises even better. Not as hopping but still dancing. We are stoked for another day.

CHANNEL: Curling, steeper outside rights greet minimal souls while sporadic, splotchy sets roll through for the masses. Not too overcrowded but human bodies there are. A spot to be in the mornings as it is clean cut and crispy. Do a floss and appreciate the gloss.

PATCH: Warm waters leave bathing areas ideal. A splish-splash and a dash of honey makes every morning sweet. No room for anything below a dancing platform. Practice your twirls and cross-steps but not an area for pumps.

July gloom is behind us but that is not to say that deep, settled in fog is not among us. Dissolving it has not yet, but fear not for this change will come. As for now, these opportunities leave us dancing to a crowd of oneself. Visibility diminished, those in the water taste the joyous freedom of rides away from eyes. August is tasting good so far, as that combo is producing, the parking lots are full, and people are stoked. Bolinas is at maximum capacity - or so we would like it to be - but more people are taking the gorgeous drive and enjoying the now. Shed a tear for beauty and radiate warmth. Today is a day of all days. Go take it.

CHANNEL: Full and short are what is near and visible. When the opportunity opens up, eyes can catch a glimpse of steeper shadows, and longer rides. Going in and out between single junkies to full lines. Guess again we will.

PATCH: When we cannot see, we must instead open up our bodies to intake information on different levels. Ask a question and listen. Talk less. Invisible bodies are said to line the breaks. Soft. Mushy. Fun. All in a mornings work.

A new month brings new, ample opportunities. Fog sits in for now but it is light and known that defeat is in its future. Temps rising and oceans are calling. Tides stay less drastic for the time. Being an entity from the force that provides it, swells combo up to something sweet - a perfect amount of syrup for our morning snack. Parking full so come ready to rock and stock. Staying seems to be the memo but sharing is still never apart of our towns gig. Share a hug, hold a rose. Be ready for some thorns and love. August has started out with a rumble.

CHANNEL: Building crowds and sizes here. Full stack and splashes of syrup. We are seeing everything from fish to foams, allowing for an interesting mix. Finding waists and providing flow, we are stoked, stocked, and full of bliss.

PATCH: A change in pace as she switches up our mindset about the area. Rolly-a-polly it is here, joining together the standers, the sitters, and the true-paddlers. Small but possible, we are greeted with opportunities near, far, and wherever the heck they are.

Chilly, dark and damp is the morning but temps hanging around 58F. Join a friend or go solo- the journey is yours to create. Keep a watch out as the tide changes to find your lucky hour.

CHANNEL: Mild breezes chill your nose, but the salty water will freeze your toes. A crowd of 15+ share and pair up on knee high pleasures. Be gentle and be kind, keep your distance or hold a hand, today is a day to enjoy

PATCH: One man on a solo mission sits and bobs with the still water. The question we want to ask him is.....Why?

Dew drops and flip flops.  Bat bombings and Sasquatch sightings.  Hoot of owl.  Bark of dog.  Minor rumblings and low grumblings as swell predictions fail to hit their mark.  Car camper stirrings with vision blurring and enough characters to fill a book.  Light breezes and fog.  Temp of 55F.  Older NW windswell depleting and S swell an ever elusive mystery.  Tidal movements never too low and full coverage not an issue.  Conjecture and speculation will make up the remainder of the day.  And I know because of KRS One.

CHANNEL: Wall rides with ins and outs whether you want them or not.  Crash and burn or pull to stern and head out towards the deeper Channel bar to try your luck.  Wind-borne breakers with less substance than hoped still evoking the capacity to carry a thigh high ride.  Left and right zig zags as one tries to extract the most out of every opportunity.  Seadrift selections may be more robust and worth the effort to locate. 

PATCH: You were there.  I was here.  We were friends.  You're not there and I'm still here but I don't know what we are anymore.

Daily Surf Report - 7/29/2017

Early action from the dedicated and disturbed as stoke is being wrung from any and all options.  NW windswell deepens while the S swell steepens and there is much vocal conjecture and consternation as to the where and when.  Persistence is key and a PMA helps the cause.  Light SE winds causing slight ripples early and a temp of 55F.  Overcast skies with clearing aspirations and the tides play less of a factor as the swings are more manageable.

CHANNEL: A solidified NW windswell makes some headway but is somewhat engaged with unfavorable wind configurations.  Knocked down but not out and materialized with whitewater foldings in the knee to thigh realm.  Expectations of more may be realized under changing tide and wind orientation.  Mind the seawall as you come and go.

PATCH: Stirring though still in a state of relative slumber as the S swell has re-routed with a more coast-hugging journey.  Still plenty of hours remain in the day for a positive change to occur but early indications require the biggest of logs and the smallest of waves.  Ankle.

Deep state of desire for what may come as we settle into a day filled with total consciousness.  Lingering overcast though high in the sky and light ESE winds allows hopes to rise and temps as well.  Gassed out and glassed off with nothing but a ruthless quiet filling the air.  A hearty NW windswell permits opportunities to exist while a building SW swell sets teeth on edge.  Both have their fans and groupies and require a tidal comeback and time to elicit a proper response. 

CHANNEL: Tide draining out and with it goes the early stoke.  Pushing forth both early and late with marginal middles.  Not fully bereft of bumps and rollers though not as engaged as one would hope. 

PATCH: Devoid, depleted, deserted or abducted by aliens.  Hopefully to be returned with implants of energy and tele-presence.  For now, non existent.

Just like the sun, a giggle can wiggle it's way through a wall, but it just might take a good long while. Closed in and blanketed in a warm bundle of fog. Chilli is a no but warm is one of those too. Neither glossy nor rugged we search for something in between. And the same goes for the ocean's stirrings - fading and gone we are granted the chance to appreciate here, now, and then. Lower the bar. Drink the tea. Soothe your throats. Not a long one here but change is forever moving.

CHANNEL: Run a bun in a tum. Small, but never incapable of bringing a smile to your face. Don't expect anything and you can never leave unsatisfied. Lands of no-hows and let-me-show you. Beginner to the core.

PATCH: Look elsewhere for riding needs and cravings. Mornings and evenings are not of this world.

We live in a California many don't know about. Pristine beauty, ever-changing and mythical but many don't tell you about the July, coastal coverage and surprising glossy textures that have the continual capability to become clear and rugged. A mix of both are said to be our fortune today with fading of one and traces left of another. Footprints becoming washed away. What is to come is for her to bring, and our holds will always vanquish.

CHANNEL: Come play on the sandy-sea-shores. Boogie-a-woogie, no paying to play but not a ripping and roaring ride. Smooth and swifty, pulling in soon yet promises are extinct.

PATCH: Tranquil, prime, floating zones here. Teeth bare but zero danger due to depleted h2o coverage. Changing now but logging zones are cleared for all day necessities.

Sweet sweet mornings of mist and mystery are upon us. When will the sun shine again? With visions of heat and wonder in our minds, we come in search of warmth but we are greeted by a reminder of the beautiful, ever-changing place that we live. So thank you California, for a cold, wet, July summer's day.

CHANNEL: No water at this time. Negative tide sitting still for the moment and will not fill in until the late hours of the morning. Keep your eyes open and wait for better opportunities.

PATCH: Currently empty and rock totems have a moment to themselves. Not a good place to be, unless your a gull.

Nothing here this morning compares to a hot summers day, as the sun is hidden and great amounts of moisture still linger in the air. A chilling 56F has us bundled up tight and dreaming of warmer places. Tides are just reaching positive levels from the early morning negative, leaving very little, in fact, nothing to ride.

CHANNEL: No one bothers to even take a glance, or to take a chance. Not enough water and even less opportunity for stoke. Try wait.

PATCH:  A single soul mingles with the rocks for reasons unknown. No water movement other than white ripples. Close your eyes and see what you want here, open them to be dissapointed.

Daily Surf Report - 7/23/2017

Deep cover and shrouded masses as the fog sets in and takes hold.  Sun seeking cracks demanding to be let in.  Calming S winds and heavy dew point make it truly feel like summer in Nor Cal.  An early betrayal by swell and tide has all lookers longing for more of everything.  Full disclosure on display as negative water levels leaves nothing to the imagination.  Tidal push-back should alleviate some of the general consternation but today will be truly what you make it.  

CHANNEL: Waders seeking surfperch, stripers and halibut have easy access under current minus tide conditions.  This zone is designated fishing only for the foreseeable hours but will later be full of water and worth a look as NW windswell lingers along.  Find some coffee and wait it out. 

PATCH:  Socked in with fog and devoid of any and all water.  Few words are adequate to describe the current wasteland watershed.  There is still a tiny S swell out there slowly dying off.  If the winds stay light and when the tide fills in you might hope to find a knee high ride.

Daily Surf Report - 7/22/2017

Currently buffeted by SE winds and devoid of water with a scene looking more like a moonscape of rock, sand and pillar.  Still a primary NW windswell hanging tough while the S SW swell has shifted gears and now shows a more favorable direction and promising numerals.  Skies are initially overcast and temp resides at 55F.  Tides starting to push back and remain fulfilled the remainder of the day.  It is early and conditions will only get better with time.

CHANNEL: High walls and low tides as dogs run freely and surf casters have their way.  Multiple sand islands to conquer as the birds have relinquished their hold.  Those toting boards make a careful approach as the zone of stoke is not readily apparent.  NW windswell is your conduit to slides but water is the current missing ingredient.  Give it time......

Daily Surf Report - 7/21/2017

NorEasters blow and set a cooling edge.  Sun has risen and will battle for supremacy and warmth with early temps at 64F.  Water temps have taken a beating and dropped down to the chill zone.  Swells of magnitude or consequence have vanished and the morning low tide deals no favors.  Stoke remains in the air and morning hellos are thrown about with abandon.  The day is full of beauty though perfection is not easily achieved. 

CHANNEL: Sizable tide swings from negative lows to highs rarely reached have set the daily water flow agenda.  Currently mal-formed though graced with sunshine and gently groomed.  Only continual NW windswell to provide the ride and barely adequate in that respect.  An avian island on the inside.  An island of floating humanity outside.

PATCH: Parched and much in need of water and swell to jump-start this motor and make any forward progress.  S swells have abated and water levels are beyond drained.  Mid afternoon tides show promise though expectations should be kept low if they are to be achieved.
