Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Confucius

Cool, clear and graced with sunshine.  Rain is over and all above rings clear.  A dip down to 45F and no winds in the air.  Fresh and ready as a Fall day can be.  Cleansed surfaces showing signs of life and future fun.  Rising tide pushing up and swell combos settle in to deliver loggable glides.  Grab a warm beverage to imbibe then put on the suit and slide.

CHANNEL: Still some NW swell remainders to tickle one's fancy.  Incoming tide gives some extra thrust before topping out.  The Channel bar is poised to receive and disperse lefts or rights depending on your inclination.  Thigh burners at best but smooth and clean and inviting.

PATCH: A stoic swell from the SW lacks true size in this season but packs long period distribution.  Roving rights with range to ride has many sights set on this venue.  Lit by golden beams and willing to work on this fine day.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The most important truths are likely to be those which society at that time least wants to hear." - W. H. Auden

Sodden morning with renewed rains and all that it can bring.  Temp stays moderated at 54F and current winds are light from the NE so a glimmer of hope exists.  Chunkish NW swell the resounding energy source but storms have left the ocean a tad messy and the cleanup has yet to commence.  A season of tide swings has it extra full now and not handling the components well.  Southerly windswell keeps eyes to the north but opportunity is in limited supply today.

CHANNEL: Swollen from tide and sloppy from storms.  The momentum exists though in faulty surroundings.  Now the perception is of far too much water though wall rides are an option.  A few hours of calming may enlighten those searching for power and glory.  For now - Try Wait.

PATCH: Emphatically empty with the exception of a lone sea bird bobbing.  What does he know that we don't?

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The best way out is always through." - Robert Frost

Interspersed precipitation with periods of calm.  No real heavy stuff yet.  Moving target cloud-cover with a temp of 50F.  Light NE winds keeping it smoothly groomed but only sunken swells to provide propulsion.   Reallocated sands provide more beach between tides swings and sandbars are reclassifying their Fall intentions.  Limited options but weather not a negative.  If it feels right go ahead and do it.

CHANNEL: A smoothness backed with early calming forces in the initial hours.  A climbing high tide making decisions difficult and approaches a hazard.  NW swell mash-up administering some stoke strikes with random forays across shallow bars.  Lengthy lulls under too much water but there is some merit to be achieved if circumstances cooperate.

PATCH: Stalwarts seek what isn't readily apparent as high tide override mutes SW swell operations.  A contemplative morning with less distraction due to low level action.  Undulations of a minimal movement give knee high hopes for those that try.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"There are no foreign lands.  It is the traveler only who is foreign." - Robert Louis Stevenson

Pink and bright blue overhead with a nippy chill in the air using today to dry out from yesterday's precipitation.  Today is the calm in between storms, for tomorrow is forecasted to be wet and windy.  Use this break wisely, enjoy the sun and take a moment to reflect.  A balmy 48 welcomes the sun's brilliance as we top out at a high 65. High tides this morning as the ocean recedes this afternoon to safer levels.

CHANNEL: Marching on blocks of wood to the beat of our own drum making the journey to what gives us meaning.  Incoming knee high waves fighting outgoing reflection formations with jumbled WNW swell-mix.  High tide making clean rides difficult, but not impossible.  Dangerous entry on the boat ramp this morning as water is churning rocks and sand underfoot.  Go steady.

PATCH: Blue ruffle movements coming forth covering all sand.  Less is more, practice makes perfect and patience is a virtue.  Timing is of the essence as wall waves have more size on the way out.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Let us sacrifice our today so our children can have a better tomorrow." - A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Wet weather is upon us but temperatures haven't dipped too low, 58F for now but standing steady. Damp streets show proof or rain, and more is expected in the afternoon. Staying dry is a fine choice, but if you get in the water, you'd better have a good reason. Chop and slosh are all that is offered this morning. Not a lot of shape, but hints of underwater power can be observed. Outgoing tide may help with conditions, as for the moment, there is just too much water.

CHANNEL: Wind hits your face, but feels like a cold embrace. Too much water and stormy swells have us praying for better. May be better in the later hours of the morning. Keep your expectations low, and you might just find something.

PATCH: Clouds fill the sky with heavy pillows of water. No sunshine here and only semi-reasonable rides. Nobody out there now, and no easy path to get there. Dodge the slosh and find out whether it was worth it or not.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Defeat is a state of mind; no one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as a reality."  - Bruce Lee

Quiet and still with floating birds overhead chirping their morning songs.  Patchy blue skies before our eyes as the sun begins the opening crescendo on this day of rest.  Parking is stuffed like sardines in a can as early morning gliders orchestrate their perfect timing for the days exploration.  Suiting up is the hardest part, take the first step and end on a high note.

CHANNEL: Tepid 54 as this is the calm before tomorrow's storm.  Fun SSW swell tops out today as old WNW leftovers mix in creating confusion.  Disorganized foamy white soup churning at a slow pace in the form of knee like shapes.  Seadrift side looks more organized in the waist high formation.  Fishing boats are coming and going from the Channel, keep an eye out, safety first.

PATCH: Clean sunrise ocean sea glass reflect in perfect colors.  Lefts, rights and centers are holding court for the masses.  Tune into your inner kindergartner and remember to share and take turns.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"A true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart."  - Hercules

Clearing skies of pink and blue hues with the sun breaking free as we honor the day and those who have served.  Getting down to business with offloading sliders on the hunt and not looking to settle.  The primary mixtures are faded NW windswell and a steep S of consequential content.  Shifted perspectives lead to new ideas and areas of exposure are not as expected.  A bit cooled off at 50F and no measurable winds.  Early tides a bit high but now establishing a median value that should last throughout the day.

CHANNEL: Unsupported sandbars still not finding the the full feeling of Fall.  Maybe a bit too much initial tide combined with waning swell has it off kilter.  Still locating some of the inner bars along the Groin and delivering opportunistic lefts for lucky loggers.  Definitely cleaned up from previous days and certainly garnering interest from those hopeful of riding shorter sleds.  Limited alternatives to the discerning eye but worth a long look.

PATCH: A fairly steep S + high-ish tides allow for swell magnets to haul in some action.  Some chunky fragments roaming free as peaks pop and drop in a random configuration.  Still the domain of logs and those that ride them.  Find your personal place and space and maximize the potential.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"There are two ways of exerting one's strength: one is pushing down, the other is pulling up."  - Booker T. Washington

Scattered precipitation with hit and miss showers as we move along our journey in the space time continuum.  Thankfully some NW winds and a tepid temp of 57F keeps spirits buoyed for a clearing and cleaning.  Plenty of W in all swells with a weighty NW finding random exposure and sneaky S in the background waiting for settled seas.  A bit of light shining through a narrow tunnel with an ultimate goal of getting wet and sliding freely around.

CHANNEL: Outgoing tide mixed with moderate winds has turned some fortunes positive and green lighted opportunities.  Still haphazard and confused but there are moments of clarity within the turmoil.  Breakers of promise have some size associated due to storm generation and have reached waist high or better when well formed.  Other options include closed out dump and run waves that may promote laughter after the fact.

PATCH: A hint of new SW swell developing and mid tides all day have hopeful loggers setting sights upon the Patch.  A bit coarse surfaced and tattered presently as weather continues to pass and circulate.  Thigh burners and wind churners are the current options.  All heavy logs with chop cutting capabilities can construe a worthwhile session today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."  - Nelson Mandela

Soaked but now settled with seals partaking in the contributions.  Frogs croak freely in the new moist landscapes.  Still some moderate SW winds in play but temps are up to 57F and the skies are fortifying to clear.  Southerly windswell and new NW swell of measured means are engaged to create offerings enticing under current circumstances.  The tide swings are moderate and the beach is wide open and free.  Nothing is ever as it seems.

CHANNEL: Un-sheltered partitions feeling the exposure to wind borne breakers as the new NW hits quick.  Pieces and parts for the taking and making have some suited and others rooted.  Variations along all exposures with portions smooth and heady mingled with tattered confusion.  Non-sedentary activities are always deemed worthwhile.

PATCH: SW storm winds drive the hunt for loggable slides this damp morning.  A multitude of messy marchers forge towards shore with intensity lacking but opportunity available.  Mid-range tidal levels give you all day to make up your mind.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Never judge anyone shortly because every saint has a past and every sinner has a future."  - Oscar Wilde

A Gibbous moon and overcast skies with a portent of precipitation engages our morning.  Light SW winds and a temp of 56F has most hopefully sliders in a quandary as swells deplete but the tides are right.  Meager offerings in play and fear of the future unknown.  Should I stay or should I go? is the truest rallying cry one can make.

CHANNEL: Textured takings in the making and a lone participant assigns value to them.  Languishing lefts leaving much to the imagination with energy levels dropping into the lowest numbers.  Unsettled weather makes the decision both easy and hard all at the same time.

PATCH: Precursor storm winds generate interest but not output with low elevation froth reaching just above the ankle destination.  Tides show minor swings and keep rocks covered but that may not be enough to entice even the hungriest sliders today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"It's not about being better than someone else, it's about being better than you were the day before."  - Unknown

Gleaming sun as far as the eye can see with a slight frigid breeze sneaking through trees and frosting our nose.  Time has shifted our routine patterns as we begin with one foot in front of the other.  Take the step that begins the journey and see where it leads you.  Fall is officially here!

CHANNEL: Left over NW swell mixed with too much water and a chilly 52 air temp is the starting line.  Micro ankle over foot rolling in as the tide reaches new highs.  A lack of energy can be felt in the water and on shore.  An open blue canvass as everyone has decided to go back to the drawing board and reconfigure today's itinerary.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music." - Jimi Hendrix

At times we see clearly, but some instances we see confusion. Come and find the peace that is clear as day. The sun is shining and letting some of the cold morning sting wear off. Bright beams of light shatter the morning open with distant cotton candy clouds. Pray for the ones you love and be happy for what you have today.  The rising tide has water filling in all the way and over the brim. Swell keeping steady but too much water to work with.

CHANNEL: Filling in quickly and still a bit to catch. Wait any longer and it will be gone. High tide will over flow the channel so stay aware of the tides. As of now, shin high boogies woogie on down for short little rides.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If it's flipping hamburgers at McDonald's, be the best hamburger flipper in the world.  Whatever it is you do, you have to master your craft." - Snoop Dog

Mother Nature and Father Time are in sync this morning as we wake up to bright blue skies and extra time on our side.  A new season is upon us, with early light encapsulating the morning.  Make the most of what the early day has to offer as night falls upon us sooner rather than later.  Stay cozy my friends.

CHANNEL: NW swell easing in this morning with, water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink.  Blazing sun and zero wind start us off as our fellow ocean worshipers have hurried up to gain position for, well, not much.  With water temps warmer than the brisk 43 outside air, something is always better than nothing.  Let the small knee high rides be your guide as too much water covers the Channels sand bar.  Bring your longest log and most stable table to catch what the ocean is handing out.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Small deeds are done better than great deeds planned." - Peter Marshall

Overnight rains just enough to whet the whistle and now yielding to clearing skies and ceased winds.  No bundling today as temp raised to a moderate 54F.  A tamed NW swell in the water along with a steep rising tide allows opportunities for the prudent and wise planner.  Today poses options of too much and far to little if you consult the tea leaves and re-imagine the outside world.

CHANNEL: Early low tide pushing onward and ahead to reach a peak not yet seen this season.  Sand islands make for premature landing zones in the Channel but may generate wave action later in the day.  A flushing reversal will have a steady rip in mind during the PM hours that will provide movement, but not of the breaker kind.

PATCH: Bereft of true swell but able to entice a few determined loggers searching for serenity and periodic slides.  Both can be found in varying amounts with combers of the micro variety and nearly knee high aspirations.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"No control over anything
I'm dying to learn, I'm dying to forget
Overcrowded in my mind

Wind breaks open the easy morning forcing us to bundle up and turn our backs. A chilling breeze sweeps the sea and creates chop, but that's no deterrent for some. Predicted rain has yet to come but clouds overhead warn us for what's in store. Be aware and keep in the know.  Extreme incoming tide mixed with wind has created conditions not preferred. Outgoing tide is something to look forward to, but it all depends on the power in the sky.

CHANNEL: Too much water + too much wind= nothing. Try wait.

Unbroken silence and gentle undulations keep the restful and weary snug in their slumber.  Again the reveal is clear and the sun does shine though temps remain early cool at 44F.  No winds to infiltrate and a new short burst of NW swell to last the day.  Initial low tides now filling gaps and sweet serenity can be found in any direction.

CHANNEL:  Easing but still pleasing if you are willing to paddle in pursuit.  New NW comes in steep but finds a fork to elicit some breakers.  Incoming tide bodes well for the extra push and shifting sands make Mali-Bo an area to explore.  Still primarily focused on the Channel bar and tending to lead in the right direction.  Seadrift seems to like these shorter period windswells - so I am told.

PATCH: Last, lingering gasps for loggers as tide pushes up and SW swell dissolves.  Graceful and groomed micro rollers that strive for Knee High.  Serenaded by sunshine and positive vibrations.

Winter Hours 2017.jpg

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Happiness is a direction, not a place." - Sydney J. Harris

Subtle seasonal changes one can sense in the air.  A collective migration towards a more determined approach as temps drop and surf heights rise.  Current early darkness soon to be replaced by welcoming illumination.  Today we remain content with leftover candies and swell remainders which can and do provide.  Fog pockets and overhead clouds vanish and give way to sunshine and facial warmth.  Temp slow to warm at 44F but winds remain still and the new day is bound with abundance and beauty

CHANNEL:  NW fragments and an incoming tide place a timer on the action as the peak will swamp and sequester stoke.  A warmer ocean keeps toes bare though the streets retain some damp early cold.  Refocused apparatus on the Channel bars looks to yield low level lefts that like longer logs.  Burn off your sugar high with a paddle, a dip and a drop.

PATCH: Newly enriched SW swell formulating an existence within the high tide ratio.  Thigh high peelers are perfectly suited for sleds of significant length and the rising sun helps evaporate the morning chill.  Hump Day happenings with a minimum of patronage is always a good thing.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"There are 3 things never to discuss with people: religion, politics and The Great Pumpkin." - Linus

Frigid 45 degree air mixed with open blue and a rising pumpkin orange sun wakes us up this Halloween morning. Goblins and ghouls are wiping sleep from their eyes in anticipation for tonight's Trick or Treating.  Candy highs are the main topic on the agenda for today.  Remember to brush and floss!

CHANNEL:  One lone neoprene costumed SUPer trying to make the best of the tricks that the dwindling NW swell is passing out.  Shin over ankle foamy waves with little push, along with lots of water flowing through the lagoon entry, is the main event this morning.  Even VIP passes won't score you a better ride.

PATCH: As the old saying goes. "you should've been here this past weekend."

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Thank God men can not fly, and lay waste the sky as well as the Earth." - Henry David Thoreau

Darkness begins to float away as the sun pushes its way through the morning horizon. Deep clouds of fog linger and keep the air moist. Chilly still at 52 and probably not getting much better. The tide is still feeding in but both spots are already stuffed. Less water is necessary for greater potential.

CHANNEL:  Too much water! Try back later.

PATCH: The pot is full and over flowing. Mush is a result of the high tide. Later hours may see better conditions, but as for now, you're out of luck.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt

Continued deliveries from potent NW swell has early risers on the prowl in the deep, dark, fog.  Fully burdened sliders pulling out all the stops and most of the gear in an attempt to mine some stoke that may last the day.  Up tides making for a churned overview and dampening feet for those not mindful.  52F with light NE winds to provide grace when needed.

CHANNEL:  Pull up, paddle out, pull in and hold on.  Possibly a tad much tide in the early hours making for uneven fascias though energy levels remains high.  Seek sheltered perspectives until a lower swing though realize there is not much change today.  A bit less water may erase the rough edges and allow for cleaner faces.  Size runs a wide gamut but head high + can be found and fought for.

PATCH:  S swell depleted yet larger NW bringing some goods to openly flood the outside protective reef.  Not generating the power from this specific angle but providing adequate breaker junctions with connections made and missed.  Enough water all day to keep rocks submerged and not a concern.  Bigger boards will get you in early and that may be key today.
