Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake." - Henry David Thoreau

Less freeze and more steez as we trend up in terrestrial areas and down in the sea.  Temps of 45F and slowly clearing skies with light offshore flow to keep it comfy.  Optimism runs high with most opting out of the visual confirmation to just don the neoprene and push onward.  New swell arrivals packed in Santa's bag of goodies and slated for later distribution but many don't try wait.  There is plenty of beach for long, uninterrupted walks.  Ocean very much un-encumbered this day.

CHANNEL: Bring more foam to roam and explore.  Luck into a rare blip that slips through.  A declining N swell has lost its luster and is in last gasp stages.   Moderate tides keep water levels adequate but don't supply any added push for planing.  Not much of an arena for styling or profiling but enough for smiling.  Measure in fractions for best accuracy.

PATCH:  The formation of a slight SW swell may be attempting to brave the ocean's vastness and seek solace on our shores.  Very small but regular pulsations have been observed and strenuous attempts at slides are in progress.  There is decidedly room for improvement.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Focus more on your desire than on your doubt, and the dream will take care of itself." - Mark Twain

Carnival candy above with a light powdered sugar dusting below as we reach the freeze point.  Clear skies with a myriad of fall colors ever changing while the morning evolves.  Completely calm winds lend a quiet to the early morning only broken by calls from nature's creatures.  Early gifts of salted and cured meats bestowed and happy holiday exchanges keep the blood flowing.  Fading NW swell looks to be revived by new replacements later in the day.  Almost less than adequate energy and high/low tide currently.  Ocean is no age limit and all access passes work today.

CHANNEL: Sandbar solutions are resolved only in the Channel proper with low level rights that substitute length for height.  Peaceful peaks populate and civilized behavior exists.  Bring nothing less than your longest board and realize the glide potential.

PATCH:  See the low surf where it restlessly tumbles, swiftly advancing, and then in retreat.  See how the tall cliff yields slowly, and crumbles, sliding away to the gulfs at our feet.  O wave that will conquer, when will you come!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts." - Charles Dickens

Winter Solstice is upon us and checks in with early frost in the lowlands and now temps in the upper 30s.  The shortest day followed by the longest night will begin the turnaround to a few more minutes of light going forwards.  But remember - as the days lengthen the cold strengthens so bundle up and stay warm.  We do have perfectly clear skies and light NE winds signaling a bit of warmth due today.  Still a stable NW swell in play but with a shorter phase rendering it more peaky and sneaky than predictable.  Moderate to higher tides throughout the daylight hours have roller reduction designs, but a careful overview will enlighten suitable options.

CHANNEL: Cold approaches and chilled down waters as we reach normalcy for the North Pacific.  Burnished surfaces with risen sun and cleaned up nicely by nurturing winds.  Again, not fully energized be it swell angle, tide or crystal alignment.  Only inner Channel bar rights to ride - but that's not really a bad thing.  Bring a log, catch the ripples.

PATCH:  Partially present and decidedly improved from previous performances.  Enough water to cover rocks and allow for some of the NW to flow freely and engage.  Mini marcher rights efforting to achieve may well reach the knee if not slightly above.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler." - Albert Einstein

Damp but not defeated as a sprinkle of overnight rain whets the appetite.  Now giving way to streaky skies above and cool temps below.  A dropping dew point has the day starting moist but sunny with beaming rays of warmth.  Only minor ocean oscillations though NW swell has angle and enough size to permeate.  Middling tides slowing the roll and all parking is open and of priority placement.

CHANNEL: Singular movement through the inside Channel proper as the incoming tide drags energy along.  A revealed right of diminutive dimensions forges forwards and is quite log-able.  Much water through the majority of the day and no drain holes in sight until after lunch.  Take what you get for it may not again be offered.

PATCH:  SUP-tastic for those looking to traverse open waters to find the end of the earth.  Open options for kayaks and canoes with no bumps or blips to rock the boat.  One hopes for some western propagation to enter on the higher tide but early indications are the door has been barred.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try." - Dolly Parton

Patch quilted white clouds suspended on slow motion indigo, as the sun peeks out from the cold gray blanket.  Chilly 43 nipping at white fingers and toes as water temperatures dip in the low 50's.  It's booty season for those who are brave enough to enter.  Open parking as far as the eye can see as the only sound that can be heard is from the ocean lapping over sand.  To suit up or not to suit up, that is the question.

CHANNEL: Sluggish energy through the jetty and over the groin.  The WNW swell teasing us in anticipation for arrival.  Seems to be running a bit late this morning with promises of fun later on this evening.  Gray and glassy foot over toe conditions, perfect for the lone paddle boarder who is currently out soul searching.

PATCH:  Still and glassy as rocks act as underneath filters for the salt water ocean.  Much like kidneys filtering out impurities in our bodies.  Most are lucky to have two and those who are the most courageous and brave release one to others.  That is the true definition of hero!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"With a labyrinth, you make a choice to go in - and once you've chosen, around and around you go.  But you always find your way to the center." - Jeff Bridges

Morning bird A-Capella sing-a-longs floating high in the sky, etching circles through wispy clouds.  A cool 45 degrees walking to shore until the sun's beautiful warmth hits full force.  Calm for now as the trickle-in from travelers for holiday celebrations are in motion.  Revel in this peace and state of mind for the moment.  Kick-off the week on the right foot with clear intentions and open hearts.

CHANNEL: Serene, glassy and micro over ankle.  Tides not having an effect on sand bars in the groin as the WNW swell has decided to take the day off.  Low key energy felt from the beach and can be seen with the eye.  No one out just yet except for fishermen hoping to be in the right position for today's catch.  Maybe, just maybe with the longest of logs, rides can be had.  Maybe.

PATCH:  Bobbing seagulls pretending to be wack-a-moles as container ships float off in the distance.  Walking across the green wall feeling the ocean spray from below awakes the soul.  Use the sun wisely, recharge crystals with the energy in hopes of positive outcomes tomorrow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Nothing else can quite substitute for a well-chosen, well-timed, sincere words of praise.  They're absolutely free and worth a fortune" - Sam Walton

Relaxed tall trees reaching towards the big blue sky as sunshine rays peek through still branches.  The wind that once was in now gone, for now.  Mother Nature is slowly waking up those with good intentions for productivity.  7 days till Surf Nicholas arrives bringing good stoke to all the good girl and boy surfers around the world.  He's making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out who's dropping in or giving right of way.  Always remember, he see's you when you're surfing.

CHANNEL: 54 degrees and full sun.  Fading NW swell mix ocean motion on tap this morning.  Incoming high tide with low energy creating lumps and bumps across sand bars in the knee high range.  Sea Drift side holding size in the thigh zone with 5 ocean worshipers gliding in.  Pick your ride wisely as some are leaving under-gunned and under stoked.  Conditions may improve with out-going tidal shift.  Fingers crossed!

PATCH: They can't catch me they'er never gonna find me.  They'er never gonna know that I'm the high plains drifter.  'Cause I'm the high plains drifter, and I'm the drifter, drifter, drifter.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Where attention goes, energy flows and results show." - T. Harv Eker

Early breezes that simultaneously cool and warm take hold but not at demon levels predicted.  Now starting to grow from the NE with some intensity.  Early crew on it to beat the crush and tide as we're fully lit and skies are cleared.  Temps battling back and now up to 57F.  Big Chief N swell a bit steeper than optimal but fully fledged with magnitude.  Rising higher tides causing a bit of funk and junk to an already tempermental ocean.  Most open faced beaches macked out and overwhelmed.

CHANNEL: Mid level sandbars engaged but reticent in the morning window of time.  Outside the Groin pole gatherings fold and flop in both directions - each in equal proportion.  Ride length has been reduced but size up a notch as the swell finds footing but treads cautiously.   Tidal limitations are a factor to contend with all day and must be accounted for if slides are to be realized.

PATCH: I just want to be in your panorama.  I'm going to take what's coming to me.  No entanglements and no compromise.  Get the picture, I'm on my knees, looking at your hot shot.  With nothing to do except think about you.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Close the door on the past.  You don't dwell on your mistakes.  You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." - Johnny Cash

Changing light as filtered through traveled smoke gives one a new perspective.  Take a moment to just pause and be with yourself before rushing off into the day's adventures.  Take stock in what gives meaning and be thankful for everything around you.  Today a growing NW swell will shift the dynamic and hope to accommodate the patrons.  Cooled out temps and the lightest of E winds keep it smooth and silken.  Early high tide a moderate challenge to resolve.  Later no water at all so mind your tables, be educated and enter wisely.

CHANNEL: Early offerings with the incoming tide had some miscellaneous Mali-Bo options on intermittent distribution.  Now we're fully flushed and overwrought with water which has curbed some enthusiasm.  Larger NW swell in override can still fashion some outside breakers but mostly moving waters with less curling action presently.  Outgoing tide has a rapid reduction rate that should open alternatives as well as cause a riptide effect.

PATCH: Reinvigorated rights worth investigation with plenty of size and W in the current ocean pulse.  Not nearly the optimum angle of initiation but enough forces from the fathoms to find a purchase.  A bit seesawed with tide but slides can and will be found here today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none." - William Shakespeare

A beseeching chill invades the bones as damp rubber is pulled over dry skin.  The break of light rings crystal clear and the lightest of E winds can be felt but not seen.  New propulsion in the ocean but the old pundits remain the same.  A lack of significant parking may be a signal of something brewing or misguided messages.  Let love be your personal guide and lead you wherever it may.

CHANNEL: Languishing in the higher tide with water levels above the norm.  Wait for the mid-morning reduction fluctuation if this is your place of choice.  Current sandbars buried deep under too much water has it slow but not entirely shut down.  Soft peaks perfectly suited to longboard lovers will find lefts heading shore-ward at under thigh high size.

PATCH: The coast line dim from the haze emerges, with tender tints of the fall-time toned.  On silver beaches roll sparkling surges, and woods are green on the hills enthroned.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings." - Eric Hoffer

Ready and holding steady in the electric morning light.  Peaked out high tide got it slowed down temporarily as significant NW swell forms a reduction.  Already warming above the 30s and checked in at 42F with the slightest of E winds wafting the scent of bacon to entice.  Water temps continue to hang tough and keep toes warm and the search for serenity is of course never-ending.  The foundation is poured and setting up with wait times more than manageable.

CHANNEL: Interior bar efforts with help from the incoming tide set the stage for the day.  Fragmented peaks with too much water currently.  Divide and conquer with slides to the left or the right.  Now logs are the most appropriate vehicle of choice; later may induce less foam to attain nirvana.

PATCH: A solitary figure forges forwards in the face of incoming tidal forces.  With only W action to facilitate breakers, what exists is smooth but lacking a true engagement.  Less water may allow for forces to fully realize their potential and smooth out the rough edges.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I like the night.  Without the dark we'd never see the stars." - Stephanie Meyer

Carnival cotton candy pinks and blues create the perfect backdrop for the skies main attraction.  The sun's brilliance casting rays in hope of warming the frigid 45 degree air temp.  Hot coffee and tea creating mug smoke signals communicating to the cold blue ocean.  Step carefully as those who are still asleep are not to be woke.  Sometimes waking up is the hardest thing to do.  Those with open eyes can see the energy in wave form on the horizon.

CHANNEL: Cold water temps are back though don't let that deter you.  Thigh and waist high sets are rolling through the channel at regular intervals. The WNW swell is here and building throughout the day.  Glassy faces on lefts and rights with no wind in sight.  Switch it up today with a high performance long board or even an egg.  Remember variety is the spice of life!

PATCH: It has begun.  The celebration of eight crazy fun nights starts today for those who practice.  The ocean is kicking-off the festivities as dreidel games are being played left and right.  Grab your favorite menorah in anticipation of nights first light.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"With enough time and enough money, you could spend the rest of your life following the summer around the world." - Bruce Brown, The Endless Summer

Muted cloudy sunrise over mountain tops commences this week's new beginnings.  Trees bending and groaning against gusts of wind as falling branches litter the streets.  Take a moment to pause and take in nature's beauty as old habits kick-in to start the week. Question routine and ponder when reaching the fork in the road, do I choose the familiar or the unknown?

CHANNEL: Small shin white frothy formations rolling in through the groin area.  New WNW swell barely starting to show as SSW swell fading fast.  Not a lot of push in the water as overnight winds are having an effect on this morning.  Seadrift side has a bit more energy in the knee zone.  Long logs will reap the benefits of what the ocean is handing out.

PATCH: Looks can be deceiving at first glance.  Don't judge a book by its cover.  Make the time and do a double take to feel the energy.  Those with clear intentions and open minds will find what they are searching for.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Everyone in the world is somehow connected.  So why not just be nice to everybody." - Richard Simmons

Easy breezy warm feeling and 50 degrees; easy like Sunday morning.  Incoming cars carving streets in hopes to find the perfect spot. Leveling tides inviting you to come on and party, karambo, fiesta forever.  Come on in and sing along with the oceans rhythm. The big blue is chanting, hello? is it me you're looking for?  Only those who make the journey will find the answer.

CHANNEL: Fading WNW swell throughout the day as SSW swell joins in on the action.  Waist high texturized rights and lefts all across the groin.  If you've never experienced the feeling of going both ways, today is your day for enlightenment.  Warm blazing sun creating spraying shadows on the face.  Pick your lane, stay committed to the cause and rejoice in the reward.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us." - Joseph Campbell

Warm breezes upon wounded knees as we open our eyes to a day filled with far reaching beauty and potential.  Risen sun lights with fiery gold and early temps already at 60F.  Swell blends coagulating with primary westerly directions.  Tides leveling off and facilitating easy access and adequate coverage.  Winter Faire in full swing and treasures can be found without much searching.

CHANNEL: Tide slowly bottoming out now and on its way to a turnaround.  Still plenty of water to foster occupation and elation on random bars throughout the region.  Settling in and removing early texture is the new focus.  Ramps reaching waist high parameters are quite possible.  Expand your horizons to branch beyond the norm and explore a new realm today.

PATCH: Silken faces and early good graces for the wake up crew.  Strong coffee brew to recharge the energy and motivate the mind.  Rolling rights that can confront or confound have the Patch on alert for lucky loggers.  Tepid waters in the late season make today feel almost like summer.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?" - Charles Bukowski

Goose bumps and speed humps as the day begins snappy and clear.  Winds continue NE but without any ferocity or malice and the sunrise sets the world on fire.  The warming routine has begun and we expect a niceness lingering through the weekend.  Continued oceanic approaches from the W elicit interest and activity and the only question remaining is where to paddle out.

CHANNEL: Dramatic tide swings are over and moderate water levels remain in effect.  Front and center Channel sandbars seem the magnetic realm for good graces.  Wide reaching swell breaches show some early texture but increased size.  The movements heading left show missed connections while the less traveled right may allow for longer routes.

PATCH: Wake me up.  Wake me up before you go.  To the other side of the world that we all know.  The morning sun wants to know.  It wants to know.  Now it knows.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail." - Charles Kettering

Cool spots, warm airs, heavy zephyrs rule the day.  Favorable swell motions with a settled NW and growing SW are overwhelmed by current winds from the NE bringing the early temps way up to 64F.  Too much of a good thing is harshing the vibe and most locomotion is not by desire and decidely ungraceful.  Shield your eyes from blowing dusts and find seclusion until conditions are mediated.

CHANNEL:  Tide push knocked down and back by growing gusts in the early hours.  Sand exposure seems greater in comparison to printed statistics.  Swell size and direction is ripe for surf activity but more water and less wind are the components presently unsuitable.  Buy time now for potential action later....

PATCH: Collectively conjured entertainment as big boards act as wind sails for those seeking to reach this destination.  Once safely sequestered upon said waters there is a shielding effect that allows hope to override common sense.  What breakers are in effect mature at knee to thigh heights.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you focus on results, you will never change.  If you focus on change, you will get results." - Jack Dixon

Miraculous morning sunrise and all systems remain on go for a premium mid-week offering.  Overnight cooling of both air and water greet the senses and get you wide awake.  E winds now bringing the warmth with temps up to 49F and climbing while sea temps seek a normalcy associated with 56F.  New NW swell is a solid quick hitter with durability to last the day.  Tides are swinging and savage so table consultation is a must to best take advantage of what may be in store.

CHANNEL:  Incoming tide options propel one to inside infiltration zones.  Somewhat unrefined activity but willing areas worth exploration.  A size expansion since yesterday has best bets above the human thigh.  Hermit crabs dispense knowledge and betting options for any willing to listen. Those that truly seek, usually find.

PATCH: Re-activated and reactionary with rights rolling right on through.  Optimal tides early, overwhelming later and depleted at dark.  Choose wisely and always bring your biggest board to the party.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius.  Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius." - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wide open roads leading to open minds with a yellow orange sun welcoming this morning glory.  A cool 48 nips at our souls as we make our journey to the great big blue.  Quite and still, the sound of waves crashing against the boat ramp is all that can be heard.  Thumping tidal swings from high to negative low.  Perfect timing is key in order to ride the blue rhythmic tune.  Map out the plan and stick to it as those who have their eyes on the prize will achieve.

CHANNEL:  Slow ocean motion moving in until noon.  No white water in sight as the NW swell is taking the day off today.  Ankle over toe near the groin on tap this morning, with hopes of changing conditions this afternoon.  If you have always wanted to swim in the channel, today is your lucky day.

PATCH: Ruffely water feathers to shore.  Walking on water, wet feet numb with no beach insight till afternoon.  Switch your mindset like the tide and gather knowledge for tomorrow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"After one look at this planet any visitor from outer space would say 'I want to see the manager." - William S. Burroughs

A spectacular sunrise has sent it's beams to the beach. The people of town are already out walking and shouting on this fine Monday morning. Glassy waters reflect the bright light even more than usual, so keep your shades on and your brims low. The day is shaping up to be a good one, but the tides may say otherwise. Extreme late morning high tide drops to a great negative in a hurry. Now may be the time, if at all. Obey the laws of the land but please, don't throw rocks.

CHANNEL:  Water already running up the ramp for what seems to be the beginning of the high high tide. Nothing surfable around the groin at the moment, but sweet little sliders are breaking right off shore. (Good luck)

PATCH: Flat and shiny, but always worth a look. May shape up but also might overflow. Who's to say?
