Inspirational Quote of the Day:
’’Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” - Maya Angelou

Reverberating sun in all directions while an early chill greets the day at 37F. Not a cloud nor breath of wind on this morning of new beginnings. Heavy doses of the Vitamin D while the breakers are formed from NW windswells holding a bit of substance. Tides play the roller coaster down, then up, then down again game so consult your tables or at least the crystals. Altered realities are the new reality with post storm remodeling of most beach areas.

CHANNEL: Tidal peak pushed back to the luncheon hour so the getting in poses no challenges. NW swell emergent and finding a balance as new sandbars have the welcome mats in unusual locations. Foundations are re-laid for sunny slides and icy extremities. Time is always of the essence with the outgoing tide having a super suck drop to a negative finish.

PATCH: Just enough water and Westerly wrapping to cause double takes and long stares. Insider rights for those with bottom contour knowledge and a map to hidden rocks is in the offering and unattended currently. Incoming tide should help the cause until it becomes a hindrance and shuts it down.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”We can evade reality, but we cannot evade the consequences of evading reality.” - Ayn Rand

Arctic white crystalized frost twinkling iridescent hues as the sun comes out to play. Strong shadow creatures follow behind ready for action in all directions turned. Cold and still at 35 while flying in the face of the sun. A Monday on a Tuesday, and for some, another mid-winter break play day. Celebrating seeing clear blue while stepping outside with worry of carrying umbrellas nor rain jackets. Don’t forget to take a moment or two, to feed the soul for what its been missing for so long, sun glorious sun!

CHANNEL:  Super high tide and still yet to peak in another hour, the ocean is swollen and resting. Seaweed carpet walls all around make for a slippery lookout. NW swell on the horizon yet not materializing. Too much water everywhere and no chance of wave formations until afternoon when the tide drops.

PATCH:   The Roman skunk and Greek rat are busy preparing for the rise of this evenings Snow Moon. Crystals are set high in perfect formations for optimal charging. Be sure to look up, catch a glance and howl in delight.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”I'm sick of not having the courage to be an absolute nobody.” - Franny and Zooey, J.D. Salinger

Have your season passes ready to be checked, the slopes are nearly empty. Good weather and a day off from work and school make for endless adventurous opportunities. Whether you are up north, down south or in between, all forms of water molecules allow for some kind of leisurely activity. As for here and now, the sun is out and the cold is present. Washing machine boat ramp in full effect as the tide rushes in to a very high high. 46F but warming slightly. Bundle up and do what feels right. We all have our own priorities.

CHANNEL:  Sliders being enjoyed and a few friends are bellied up to the bar. Knee to thigh high and smooth… foam pours down the side and the foamy head is scraped off the top. Catch a ride on this side of the pole and paddle back for seconds, while supplies last. Sliders come 2 for $10 or 3 for $12.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”It was an amazing predicament. He was, in one sense, the richest man that ever lived--and yet was he worth anything at all?” -F. Scott Fitzgerald

2AM rumbles wake us in a jolt, but we manage to find slumber once more. Now sunshine beams down on the winter water and glistens in your eyes. Crisp morning wind bites our fingers and nose with its accompanying temperature of 48F. Sunday morning regulars trot down to the sea, big tides and slow rides are what draw them in. Beware and take care, for the morning high is up near the sky, with the afternoon low yanking on your toe. Take the day to relax, refresh, and recharge yourself. Be grateful for those around you, whether you like them or not.

CHANNEL:  Slosh and slupp up, down, and all around. Possibilities do exist but in limited knee high fashion. Extreme tidal movement leaves narrow windows for opportunity. Choose your time to strike… Choose now.

PATCH:   Remember what I did… For in that short time I showed you what you didn’t recognize as true, human, love.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”We don’t need more to be thankful for, we just need to be more thankful.” - Carlos Castaneda

Sodden and soaked as we re-wet, rinse and repeat on regular intervals. In-between we find clearing skies mingled with dark clouds and temps have chilled out and down to 43F. Winds remain light and now from the E which bodes well for potential clearing though clouds will linger most of the day. Again we have an unruly ocean and deep high tides to contend with in the early hours. More lookers than takers currently but suits and shred sticks are at the ready once the ice gets broken.

CHANNEL:  Mass movements of streaming breakers as storm surges send energies in a multitude of directions. Water levels a fixed deterrent to anything easy or approachable. Turbulent and tumultuous at best. Viewed from above in rapt appreciation is the best course of action until further notice.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”How quick come the reasons for approving what we like.” - Jane Austen

Mottled skies and determined cloud cover of grey, blue, white and yellow greet us this fair morning. Rain does not fall but this is not a feeling of permanence as recent drop of hail suggests. Temp of 48F and the winds reside in the moderate realm though things have already been well whipped into froth. Post apocalyptic storm surges full of the flotsam + jetsam are visually enticing though no current takers for slides. Steep early tides up the ramp carrying lumber and waste. Know your limits or fine tune them if you enter the fray.

CHANNEL:  Mixed messages as ocean forces swell to great heights though form and function are in spare measure. Access is not easy and opportunities to ride may be a feat not easily accomplished. Tormented and textured by recent weather and needing some idle time to cleanse and renew.

PATCH:  Distant outside activity has a cluster of calm in a seething pit of vipers. Those with steep resolve and constitution may make the journey but what rewards are to be had? Draining tides will have their say and push the action into oblivion.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Love is the only flower that grows and blossoms without the aid of the seasons.” - Kahlil Gibran

We are keeping the shop closed today due to storm aftermath, downed trees, flooded roads, mudslides, power outages and general chaos. No need to be on the roads or check the surf today as it is beyond shredded. Give it some time to calm and recuperate from the weather assault. Hold your loved ones close today - sometimes it is all we have.

CHANNEL:  Forceful wind playing games with the oceans surface as seals duck dive for breakfast. W swell still primary yet not showing well. Too much texture and not enough push is not the recipe which good surf is made of. No real wave form with white water rolling in at ankle height. Best to call it a day and seek other options for exercise.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”The truth is rarely pure and never simple.” - Oscar Wilde

Thick layered gray has returned from beyond and cold humidity is rising. Pre-storm dawn breaks way to dampened earth and swollen streams with echoes of sheep whispers filling the void. A telltale sign of what is to come by afternoon. Balmy temps starting at 42 as barometers work overtime feeling the pressure. Plodding on to where the sand meets the sea, feeling the solitude from empty spaces around, wondering if the time is now.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Keep your face always toward the sunshine and shadows will fall behind you.” - Walt Whitman

Winter sun beams shining bright highlighting frosty streets beneath woolen booted feet. Nippy to start at 38 with no trace of wind nor movement. Slow to start and begin the new week with honey do’s at the top of the list. Measure twice and cut once, making sure the job is done right. Walking through the gate towards the sea, sparkling sand and white water kisses greet visitors hello.

CHANNEL:  Shining warm sun as far as the eye can see as dogs prance searching for lost toys. WNW swell has settled in with knee to thigh waves slowly rolling in towards the Channel. More shape to the face than not and crumbly at the end. Extra paddles are in order to ride the shoulder. Noodle arms are the name of the game.

PATCH:  Partial confusion on which way to go, with no real direction to lead the way. Slight lumpy, like this mornings hot oatmeal. Mindset is key and everything tastes better with enough milk and sugar.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Its your ability to inspire and uplift other people that matters, not your ability to outdo them.” - Doug Larson

Manic weather patterns as Mother Nature keeps us guessing on this day of rest.  Familiar patterns as of late, temps are down to 39 and a smooth chilly breeze bites to the core.  Between chock-a-block gray and sheets of rain, the sun shines reminding us she is still there.  Not sure knowing what you’re going to get, like a box of chocolates, go with your gut and trust your instinct.

CHANNEL:  Sun light beaming in between spurts of rain, and sand as far as the eye can see.  Calm on the surface, as the WNW swell is rolling in at a leisurely pace.  Sets in the knee high range with little face time before crumbling into white water soup.  Not a lot of energy, though much cleaner and organized than days past.  No one out, and if you decide to be first, be sure to bring the longest sled possible and add that extra paddle in for good measure.

PATCH:  Finding the exact spot is the hardest part of the equation.  Start with the long pole in the tent and work backwards towards the solution.  It’s easy math.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”If you can believe it, the mind can achieve it.” - Ronnie Lott

Requisite morning chill as the calendar reads February and the mercury rises to 40F. Glory moments of calm and sunshine for the early rise and shine gang. Post storm clarity reveals the truth as more wind and rain were borne with swell an afterthought. Unwavering sea loyalists scrutinize the field of play in hopes of stoke nugget remainders. Tides play in your favor but sooner is best - later remains unknown.

CHANNEL: Yards of beach stretch before you with sun steaming the moistened sands. The canine playground is being enjoyed by only those with 4 legs and proclivity for fetch and return. The waters remain unoccupied save for 2 seals periscoping the shallows. Slideable shapes may be worth waiting for as the tide has just turned and the extra push may restore some order to the area.

PATCH: I remember the way that you smiled, when the gravity shackles were wild. And something is vacant. When I think it’s all beginning. With my soul sucked dry.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”The best things in life aren’t things.” - Mike Ness

Grizzled skies that have leaked lend a steely hue to the morning vibes. Cross winds from the ESE and 46F to initiate slight warming. Portals of blue to another dimension open and close as the sun remains buried behind the clouds. The key is to be present to what does exist and filter out that which doesn’t. Guiding forces are out there if you are willing to let them lead.

CHANNEL: Deteriorated conditions holding allure for a solitary slider engaging in the moment and finding all positive aspects. Still active swell from the NW but knocked about by nascent breezes. Living the dream while the reality portrayed is meaningless to all others.

PATCH: A day upon which to make something beautiful from the chaos tendered. Find reasons to celebrate and recruit others around you. Morsels of stoke must be first mined then savored as the sweet delicacies they are. Lower tide not doing many favors but as the hours pass water levels will rise to the occasion.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”There are only two options regarding commitment; you’re either in or you’re out.” - Pat Riley

Sunshine breeches above the hills yet the chill of the evening remains. We stand correct at 40F with only the lightest of E winds whispering down quiet streets. This mixture, along with adequate water levels are suitable conditions for slides with WNW swell cooperation appreciated. More tidal volume may increase the stoke and the beauty present is already worth the effort expended to reach this station.

CHANNEL: Wind groomed and collated with regular intervals and format in place. Sandbar realignment seems to be falling back into areas of expected values and response. Lower tides make access easy breezy and loggers will find delightful conditions on which to ride mainly right but occasionally left.

PATCH: A trio of suited souls are seen this early AM with pure heats and clear minds. Determination and destination never in doubt. The rollers present have form and therefore function with shore bound power to push it along. 3 is always the magic number so pay respects and allow it to be theirs.

WE WILL BE CLOSED ON ALL WEDNESDAYS DURING THE MONTH OF JANUARY

We will re-open on Thursday morning and be open daily from 10am - 5pm during all the other days of the week

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Just as you usher in lights, lanterns and other forms of illuminations to welcome the New Year, may the New Year usher in for you new hopes, dreams and aspirations.  Wish you luck in the Year of the Pig.” - Unknown

Pounding overnight hail storms give way to crisp clear blue and frozen icy morning windshields are reflecting the rising sun as temps are frigidly cold at 35.  Numbing wind blowing through as trees dance and drop debris below.  Chimney stacks communicating by smoke signals keeping those safe and warm inside.  A dry day on the horizon, an exciting treat and welcomed break from the dark gray of days past.

CHANNEL:  Deck detris scattered about the ramp as water surges up fast.  A calmer surface up top with ocean motion moving in foregin places due to sand bar travels.  W swell showing slightly out in front of the boat ramp with 5 second rides available to a select few who are trained and experienced.  Channel proper has to much water and not enough energy for anyone currently.  Best to celebrate your pig stance for the New Year on the beach.

PATCH:  The number 20 is a combination of the energies and vibrations of the number 2 and the number 0.  It represents the start of your spiritual journey, so you should start listening to your intuition and what your guardian angels are trying to tell you.  You are about to embark on a spiritual journey where you will discover the answers to your life’s biggest questions.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once, before a word has been spoken.” - Fyodor Dostoevsky

A new day is upon us but it’s feeling a little like yesterday. Sleek streets and closed roads are the result of ongoing windy and wet weather that has become all too familiar to us here. Current rainfall and cold temps (46F) keep up tucked inside and wanting nothing to do with the outside world. Take the day to bundle up and finish digesting those superbowl snacks.

CHANNEL:  Storm sloshed and wind chopped. Two large logs have found themselves washed up on the the boat ramp, and the tide is still on the rise. High highs and negative lows give us no hope on days like this. Know your limits and have some common sense. Peek out the window and use the glorious gifts we have been given… your eyes.

PATCH: Say it ain’t so

I will not go

Turn the lights off

Carry me home

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Don’t worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon.” - John Madden

A thick vale of dark gray tucked-in tight around the corners as temps loiter at 52. Humidity high as streets are slick and babbling streams mimic rivers. For some a day of rest, for most, a Super Sunday. A chance to let slip the fact there’s no surf to be had, and instead focus on what really matters today; commercials and historic super male cheerleaders. Pick which squares feel lucky, sit in your special chair with bunny slippers and enjoy the game. Not everyone will be singing “You’re Simply The Best” by Tina Turner at the end and that’s OK. For everyone has already won!

CHANNEL:  A mad rush, as water surges up the ramp and into the street with logs in tow. The ocean speaks a language not a single soul can understand. Do not attempt to translate.

PATCH: 2, 3, 5, 8……..what number comes next? Look up Leonardo for explanation or if you see Doug, ask for a hint.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.” - Carl Jung

Only gophers, groundhogs and ferrets finding underground protections from the soaking rains and furious winds. Stiff and gusty from the S and rain now off and on and off again. Partitions of sun streaming through to tantalize and tease. Early high tides and shredded seas laced with menace, malice and debris. Not for the faint of constitution and definitively not rideable as currently constructed

CHANNEL:  Do not attempt to Pass Go. Do not collect $200.

PATCH: Like Mr Toad’s Wild ride - only not nearly as fun.
