WE WILL BE CLOSED ON ALL WEDNESDAYS DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH

We will re-open on Thursday morning and be open daily from 10am - 5pm during all the other days of the week

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.” - Anatole France

Amber sun rising high casting golden warmth below.  Wind warnings flagging for attention this afternoon, yet so far no sign nor trace.  Chilly, not cold, as we begin at 48.  Morning walkers passing by with a spring in their steps and coffee on their minds at the end.  Vacant spaces court side as most are on to the daily grind.  Two lucky ones have prime position and are quenching the thirst they have been longing for.  An extra salty taste to calm the nerves and feed the soul.

CHANNEL:  The ocean, she is calm and welcoming visitors today.  W swell less in size, though more shapely and consistent in the knee zone.  Lefts and rights may be had by those who want it most with an extra paddle in effort.  Currently one happy camper out soaking up the sun while waiting for sets to come through.

PATCH:  The far meeting rock is proudly displaying her crown, peeking through briny water lapping by. Seagulls chanting mine, mine, while searching nooks and crannies for breakfast treats.  Once the queen has taken her final bow, water disciples take note, pay respect, and receive gifts of rides and slides in return.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“There is another alphabet whispering from every leaf, singing from every river, shimmering from every sky.” - Dejan Stojanovic

Golden yellow and orange hues break the darkness of night as the sun’s brilliance wraps its arms around everything in her sight. Cold temps at 38 without a cloud in the great blue sky. Woodpeckers pecking to the beat of their own drum as deer commute through grassy hills on to greener pastures. Shadows stretching far following behind while wondering towards where the land meets the sea. Smiling faces here, there and everywhere soaking in the vitamin D in its natural form. Through the gate sparkling sand leads the way to what we seek. Sunglasses are the accessory for the day, you can leave the umbrella behind.

CHANNEL: WNW swell rolling in at a fast pace. Much cleaner than in recent weeks with sets coming in the thigh range. Sand bars have moved during recent storms creating more shore break formations than A frames in Channel proper. Seadrift side has a bit more face time for those who want the extra paddle. Plenty of choices and crowds are low.

PATCH: Black speckles on the horizon playing hide and seek for the optimal spot and are left chasing their tails. Bigger isn’t always better and inside is the best side for going right or left. Dealers choice for all players today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“A lot of times people look at the negative side of what they feel they can’t do. I always look on the positive side of what I can do.” - Chuck Norris

Morning wake up arriving early as we spring ahead to welcome longer days and shorter nights. The very first baby step towards warm sunny beach days and briny slide sessions. For now, gray lingers high with a reprieve from the wet stuff and cold temps at 45. Afternoon showers on tap with thunder and lightning; the time is now for any and all outdoor activities. Grab a slicker for those pesky surprise showers, take a deep clear breath to clear out the cobwebs and enjoy the dry moment.

CHANNEL: Post-storm surge surf mumbled and jumbled without form and clear direction. Don’t believe everything you read, for buoys are signaling W, though not materializing in real life. Lots of current in the Channel creating a soupy white water froth with no one out in the chaos.

PATCH: Crumbled kernels leftover from yesterdays snack attack are slim pickings this morning. Not enough to fill the void nor keep the hangry at bay. Best to feed the beast on land and try again tomorrow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Either you repeat the same conventional doctrines everybody is saying, or else you say something true, and it will sound like it’s from Neptune.” - Noam Chomsky

When contents around are swirling and jumbled, shift a gaze to the contents within. Stormy sentiments hang in the air, yet joyous characters (with their feet planted on the ground) run amok. With stories to share, knowledge to swap, and various delights rotating in fruition, today is a day for ground work with friends, new friends, acquaintances, family, strangers and everything in between. Rain to come and go, as dear old friends tend to do; onshore winds stay strong for a full-day cycle; all other contents and information irrelevant.

CHANNEL: Even if you know not which is the area we speak of here, it is utterly trivial. Look left for an indication of what is happening to the right; look right to understand what is all around. Nothing shared should be taken for granted but perhaps it is one moment in time where everything shared changes nothing.

PATCH: Children are we // Of the restless sea // Swelling in anger, or sparkling in glee; We follow and race, // In shifting chase, // Over the boundless ocean-space

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Do something wonderful, people may imitate it.” - Albert Schweitzer

The cool of winter not yet over as temps drop to 40F. The sun of an early spring not yet fully bloomed. The clouds of rain unwelcome yet lingering beyond need and restarting lightly. Complexity above and below as we all try to make sense of our surroundings and the signs of nature. Logs are carried to the concrete and rebar entrance to a field of broken dreams. Swells vanish and low tide not helping the cause. Conditions are due to change from moment to moment so take heed and cherish the opportunities given and any stoke shared.

CHANNEL: Currently devoid of sliders though do not forsake this corner too soon. As the tide returns so will shapes and the patient amongst us may find the hidden gems. Steely resolve may allow one to luck into a thigh high roller holding the inside line for multiples of seconds. If the afternoon winds do not unravel this could be a worthy lunchtime endeavor.

PATCH: Not much in terms of height but value can come in smaller packages. The early lower tide causing a feast to be fostered from the scraps with provisions adequate to sustain but not satisfy. Those exploring have moved further out to the depths with some finding nourishment to soothe the salty soul.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Welcoming blue patches and even beams of sun mingle with grey mist above after another day and night of rain. Freshly soaked and sodden grounds steaming in the 48F airs while the winds remain noticeably calm. Early investigation yields the vision of NW / SW windswells competing for your attention with neither showcasing their finest wares. Low tide making the return but again shifted sands are cause for evaluation. See things through a new light today and hold your perspective close to your heart.

CHANNEL: Tide pushing up and adding water to stabilize the stew. Pesky peaks are prevalent but unconcerned with form and with limited function. Seasoned veterans use the eagle’s eye to find whitewater ramps to stir the memory and refresh the juices. Un-enviable shapes that may push the limits at waist high and allow for partitions of slides heading any which way but loose.

PATCH: Ingredients are present but clearly in the hands of the amateur chef, as inconsistency and lack of shape rules the morn. Power looks present from storm related wind surges but the area remains vacant at present. Some determination may yet yield a smile if the horizon holds its promise of better days. Watch the charts and mind the knots as they will determine where and when you fit in.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.” - Leonard Nimoy

Shocking news as we have more rain occurring of moderate intensity. Fully engulfed in cloudy overcast and temp of 51F. The air shows only slight movements from the SW which is the current saving grace. Tide is on a high climb while the NW swell fades away. It is textured but not tattered though less than optimal to the naked eye. It is functional though not with a sense of optimism. Look deeper and within to summon the resolve required to be in the and of the moment.

CHANNEL: Volume overload as the tide seeks its apex and shapes diminish. If the gusts hold off and the water levels drop the makings of an adequate slide may be conjured. For now, the emergence of breakers to stimulate stoke must be sought as they do not present themselves for the taking.

PATCH: Sunken and embedded rocks too deep under the watery depths are not able to engage action. Less aqua and more swell are the component switch that needs to be made and potential here looks slim. Align all chakras and let the rain cleanse the crystals as the third eye will be your guide for any available slides.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:

“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” - Malcom X

Bright lights gleam for a moment and the day has begun. The sun is partially penetrating the gloom that lies overhead but the clouds are seeking to claim their territory once more. The morning stands still at 56F and the air is still. Don’t be too eager as to not enjoy the moment. Take time today to ponder and explore. Practice patience and believe that it will bring prosperity.

CHANNEL: With this week’s mimicking tide still on the rise, there is diminishing hope for morning sessions. Nugatory movement in the water but the views from the beach are always charming.

PATCH: Water resembling glass sends through one diminutive lump at a time. Use the lull time to look in the mirrored surface and ask yourself why you’re here. Choose a path, but feel free to wonder. When the time arises, turn and go.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”The blurred world seen from a marry-go-round settled into place; the marry-go-round suddenly stopped.” - F. Scott Fitzgerald

How much longer can we dream of tropical oasis while we look outside our windows? As some escape for a moment to see the sun in distant places, we continue to apply our wool hats and rain coats. Yet we happily welcome those friends back with our cold, open arms.  Yes, it’s a damp one, ladies and gentlemen. Heavy mist is compared to rain and the walk to the beach may have you quenched before you get there. Not too much wind here at the moment, but the water is chopped nonetheless.

CHANNEL:  Incomminnggg tide has the channel swamped. Leftovers may be reheated and served in the later hours of the morning. Too much water as of now.

PATCH:  It’s a long wet walk but it might just be worth it. Any further travel is not. All possibilities lie here and all you need is the log to unlock them. Some stormy swell inhibiting consistency and pleasure, but patience can take you a long way.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
’’Friends make life a lot more fun.” - Charles R. Swindoll

Expansion rather than contraction as the group grows by 1/3 and a trifecta is achieved. Where there is a Will there Will always be a way. Now inner secrets become unlocked and the keys to most mysteries are revealed. Another storm front doused in the night but has passed along and left us coastally cloudy and mild at 55F. The winds remain valid and from the NE which brings forth the hope of groomer possibilities. Softening WNW swell and higher morning tides keeping things in the look, see, check, try wait phase while the java brews and the tea steeps.

CHANNEL: Fully flushed with tidal zenith that will start to run then drain in the coming hours. The windows are opening while the wind remains favorable with un-promised futures and hazy stability. Groin bar rights have the feels format. If considerations are in order - then now is the time.

PATCH: Seemingly without remorse after evening festivities rekindled the stoke. A closer observation reveals the true nature and conundrum. Too much early water and a swell angle a few clicks N of optimal has tamped down the flow and distilled the essence. If the hunt is half the enjoyment then bring a long log and achieve your higher calling.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
’’Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” - Roald Dahl

Cool and damp as the hills seep while the skies are mostly overcast though holding back their waters. Temp arrives at 44F and the winds do not exist in this moment of time. Larger scale WNW swell is finalizing plans to visit and just working out decisive details of arrival. Early high tide now on the drop yet depths are enough to yield rewards of stoke.

CHANNEL: Slight spinners fulfilling destinies as the outgoing tide tidies up the loose talk. Just in front a sandbar remains and split peaks are the refrain if your paddling shoulders propel you over the edge. Along the corridor to the S are new experiences waiting to happen with a vigorous swell the guiding force.

PATCH: Smooth and glassy though on the lesser side of size with new swell not fully engaged and off kilter on the angle. Still opportunities to slide and the biggest sleds will have better success variances. Pray for solar vibrations and set your crystal directional finder on high to achieve performance upgrades.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
’’Life doesn’t run away from nobody. Life runs at people.” - Joe Frazier

A welcome sight of sunny skies and tempered NE breezes as we dry out once again and try to make sense of our surroundings. Temp revives to 55F and birds sing while frogs croak. Eyes squint as the reflections blind and through slits we envision some slides of merit. Offerings are available although not always obvious. Slowly building NW swell collaborates with short period storm surges to once again move masses of water. A calming is in effect and no dangers exist except those in the far reaches of one’s mind.

CHANNEL: On a dropping tide we find some cause for pause and reason to assess. Sand movement keeps the boat ramp activity at the forefront of the resources but the further right bar on the southern end of the visual field may be worth the effort and expense.

PATCH: If you go, go with purpose and conviction for then the likelihood of success will welcome you with open arms of embrace. More W movements upon the higher tide and flowing in and over the outer reef. Some inside dumpers on the edge of madness with rocks coming into play as the tide drops to nothing.

’’Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” - Mark Twain

Gail force wind bending trees into unnatural yoga poses as sheets of rain fall horizontally to the ground. Monitoring tidal swings and flooding roads, cause alarm for those who have travel plans elsewhere. Warning advisories in forms of flags from phone apps and posted signs, visibly seen from all distances. 20 knot continual winds bombarding sand and lifting tree debris up the ramp with ease. Heed all warnings, stay dry and safe inside. For today is not the day to test the waters, nor the strength of Mother Nature.

CHANNEL: No form, no direction, no chance.

PATCH: I am not comfortable. I am really not comfortable!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
’’Everyone should have themselves regularly overwhelmed by Nature.” - George Harrison

Gusty and blustery winds have returned and are settling in, leaving nothing unturned. Thick and gray atmospheric action underway, scattering showers sideways stinging open eyes. Long gone are three day weekends and mid-winter breaks, for its Monday on a Monday. Timing driving with ocean tides as we brace for the return of flooded roads and swollen streams resembling rivers. Keeping tabs on family and friends, while feeling thankful for electricity and heat, today is a day best to experience from the inside out.

CHANNEL: White capped peaks feeling the churn and burn from 15 knots winds as far as the eye can see. NW buoy readings on paper, though nothing materializing in reality. The ocean’s not accepting any visitors today my friends. Stay safe, stay warm and hope for tomorrow.

PATCH: Onesie life, is the best life. If you know, then you know.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
’’Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.” - Steve Jobs

Dawn breaks way to morning pea-souper gray without a hint of sun. Remnants of last nights follies hang from trees as participants sleep off the excess celebration. Nippy to begin at 45 as pre-storm temps climb not past a high of 52. Dress the part and bundle up to keep the warmth within as the journey starts towards the shore. Parking is plenty, a subtle signal of what may lie ahead, with hands deep in pockets moving on. From atop the wall, one glance ahead seals the deal and tells the tale.

CHANNEL: Moist sand rolled out like tonight’s red carpet as the sea wall is the step and repeat. No paparazzi nor fans gathered to watch the no-show. WNW swell is missing from the line up and no match for low tide. No energy or form on the outside with ruffled goose bump texture on the surface. No one out as most are getting Oscar ready. As water fills in, maybe just maybe there could be something in the ankle height. Fingers crossed and don’t hold your breath.

PATCH: Far out meeting rock standing proud and saying hello as slow motion aqua pura coats sea friends in star shapes. This mornings lesson is brought to you by Ocean Biology with the first page of the syllabus titled, Demographic Studies of Barnacle Distribution in the Inter-Tidal.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
’’Progress is impossible without change; and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” - George Bernard Shaw

Skies are blue and clearing with only wisps of clouds on the mountain surrounds. Frost blankets all surfaces in a dusting of crystalline white reflecting a million points of light. Temp an honest 38F and the windchill factor is zero. Early low tides have the cracking crew perplexed at the extant possibilities. All aspects must be accounted for and perspectives newly aligned.

CHANNEL: Top slappers and boogie down arm flappers extend themselves in search of elusive stoke. As the tide falls and the windswell fades these efforts are mostly futile in their ultimate outcomes. Most modes of breaker transportation need to re-calibrate in order to locate the secret sauce of slides but the early hours deliver no favors.

PATCH: Morning low tide fighting its way back to equilibrium and beyond with most rocks and kelp beds in full evidence. Wave proportions are relative and relevant to the existing landscape, reduced swell and lack of water present. Diffused pulses separate themselves from the quiescent region to spur action and elevate hope.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
’’Life is easy to chronicle, but bewildering to practice.” - E. M. Forster

Sunshine on an un-cloudy day. Cherry blossom blooms signal a hopeful turn towards spring. Eager frost on windows with temp dipping down to 32F but low humidity and E winds have the thawing out in progress. A weakened brew of NW windswell upon a smooth sea surface. Mighty efforts for relatively meager movements are being exerted by those in the mix while the viewing populace reminisces and longs for better days.

CHANNEL: Passing the low tide morning regression and welcoming a small push to pique interests. Segmented sandbars have split the assemblage with some opting for right in front of the boat ramp proper while others travel south and investigate the new motions being created on the Seadrift side of life. Either or neither but thigh high options exist in one dimension.

PATCH: The inner Snags still operational if you trust your rock detection mechanisms. Low tide now activating areas outside where water levels remain suitable to sustain knee high goodness and loggable under golden skies. A passionate contingent remains committed to the cause and may have gleaned enough stoke to suffice through the day.
