Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand.” - Stevie Wonder

Muted sun washed out with moist gray overtones casting no shadows below. Rain falling steadily coating landscapes, washing away recent memories of sunny warmth. Air currents are nil and mercury barometric pressure climbs high as we settle in for another rainy day. Tiny streams run sideways down the boat ramp to the sea. Looking out on the horizon, still and calm, what a pleasant sight to see.

CHANNEL: Sand bars still present out front of the boat ramp working in the knee height. Calm and glassy with peelers rolling in slow and steady. Crumbled white water, with little form coming through Channel proper in the ankle height. W swell is here to stay and can work magic for those who have secret sauce.

PATCH:  One lone ranger out to pasture snacking on curds and whey. Little bite sized pieces from the fun sized pack left in the candy dish for the taking. Enough to take with both hands and plenty enough for everyone to have a treat.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade... And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party.” - Ron White

A quiet morning is turned into chaos when the deal of the day is discovered. Massive lines seen in the distance has the town and beyond flocking to the the sea for a taste of glory. Head high hills come rushing in as a result of a superior S swell. Early sun bathers lay their towels on dry sand as rippers race by the potato chip dippers for a dip of their own.

April fools.

CHANNEL: Imagine this: Perfect peelers breaking of the center sandbar with 10 seconds in between. Shiny hills provide perfect slopes for logs of all size. Ride it for a moment then ride is two more. Feel the sun beat down on your face and embrace the warm water.

Now open your eyes.

PATCH:  One thing is true, and you’d better believe it. Knee slappers in glass form do not slide in unnoticed. A diminishing crowd can be proud to say that they got the real deal of the day. Others realize that waiting for the morning to progress into afternoon/evening for a better chance of splendid sessions. The incoming tide has been doing well, these are the perks of dawn patrol.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and the lay down on our blankets for a nap.” - Barbara Jordan

Golden sunshine rays warming earth below as the sound of incoming car engines break the silence through town. Remnants of late night party gatherings hosted by overnight campers for fox and raccoons are scattered about with a large clean up on isle 4. Weekend warriors on the hunt for parking, as spots are already filled to capacity. Beach time is the best time and is on the minds of everyone, everywhere. Plan ahead with plenty of time for cushion, for there is enough to go around for everyone.

CHANNEL:  W swell down a notch or two leaving tiny nuggets on the inside of the groin. Not a lot of push and no shoulder to ride though plenty of sun. Yesterday is all but a memory looking out to the boat ramp as we scratch our heads to the right. Pack the essentials if you are heading out; sunscreen and the longest sled you can get your hands on.

PATCH:  Prone and standing positioned water gladiators searching for the secret spot with all the answers. The journey, while mellow, is satisfying, though takes extra effort to reach the end. Remember you can’t have a cookie if you don’t have any in the jar.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Avoid popularity; it has many snares, and no real benefit.” - William Penn

Fine and cleared skies greet the day and sun dominates in all directions. The temp remains modest at 45F but will rise to the occasion this weekend. The vibrations are, if not heavy, then mixed with new realizations of what is and can be. The immediate future holds slides of some merit and one is well advised to seek, ride and retreat so that others may partake as well. Stoke is in ready supply for those destined to enjoy responsibly.

CHANNEL:  Paradigm shift and a visual recalculation is required. The firmly situated sand at the boat ramp seems determined to inhabit the area and display shapes on a wide array of tidal heights. This morning’s fuller offerings have shifted slightly north along the seawall but remains cleaner than expected with a size not typically seen here. Along the Groin bar corridor is our more typical buffet of right leaning breakers as all swells come from due west today.

PATCH:  A submerged rock dome is the home to a small trio defying logic and powers of observation in pursuit of what once was but now isn’t. The shortened slide is being had but lacks the intensity associated with the most recent evening’s fiesta. As the tide meanders out this morning and into the afternoon we should see some forms reappear when they can find the surface most easily. Many will set up camp here today, but know that the results will be mild.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.” - Oscar Wilde

Rain relents and again gives way to cleared skies and full sunshine. Gusts have stopped but the mercury has dropped and begins the day at 43F. There is reason to rejoice if you temper your expectations as slides can be taken from the fine shores this day. West swells still relinquishing energies though not renewed in intensity. Sometimes the act of just being in the water and sharing in the presence of your fellow community is enough.

CHANNEL:  As one’s gaze falls upon the pole motions observed begin to resemble shapes of recent memory. Fuller tides now starting to drop have smoothed the playing field which is open to interpretation. Any souls entering will have initial isolation for the slides they seek this morning. The menu is being revised and the future holds new offerings.

PATCH:  Most attention is focused here with a smallish horde beginning the descent. Deep outside shapes under higher tides seem destined initially for those wielding carbon fiber lances and extra volumes of epoxy or foam. The inside forms will attempt to resolve as the tide continues to vacate. While it remains calm now the winds may try to play with the shapes but it appears that sliding may win the day. Medium stoke, highly beautiful.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“What really matters is what you do with what you have.” - H. G. Wells

Not now but earlier and possibly again rain must fall according to our predictive patterns. Partially cleared skies with pinkish hues, vibrant sun and our temp is 49F. Swirling vectors and fully flushed tides have the seas in mild turmoil and most checking but not yet attempting slides. Westerly swells are activated but not enhanced and may be best served and observed as the day unfolds in earnest.

CHANNEL:  Stubborn sandbars at the Boat Ramp continue to draw the breakers though today requires much determination to find true forms. Minimally accessible shapes and duration are the early offerings upon which to engage. Receding froth and approaching gusts may make for an unruly mix so be forewarned as conditions may deteriorate.

PATCH:  Initial high tides have hidden the rocks and sand but that is the only positive which to embrace. Secondary swell from the SW not able to break through the outside mix of wind and depth. Bits and bites of hope may be found but they will require a calmed and centered breath and approach. Consistently inconsistent with even the most passionate sliders debating the destination.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Yes, everything is simple. It’s people who complicate things.” - Albert Camus

Golden yellow and sherbet orange flashing vibrant hues as the sun wakes in all her morning glory. Gone for now, the wind and rain have moved on elsewhere leaving puddles and scattered leaves behind. Perfect blue sky hanging high with a cold chill starting at 45 and climbing to the low 50’s. Bundled up ocean adventurers crack open the door and step outside to catch a glimpse. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, all here on the same mission. To walk on water and feed the soul.

CHANNEL:  Low tide dropping like it’s hot as the W swell signals a yellow caution. Too little water for now for much of anything to get through, leaving a soupy white water mess approaching shore. As the tide turns in the afternoon, rides and slides should start to appear in the knee to thigh range.

PATCH:  Mixed messages being sent and are hard to read as the outside meeting rock stands proudly. Holding onto long sleds with Vulcan mind meld fingertips, unrestricted communication and deep understanding are within reach. Don’t rush, take time and all questions will be answered.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“So whatever you want to do, just do it….Making a fool of yourself is absolutely essential.” - Gloria Steinem

Shrouded in dark gray, windows rattle as trees groan and bend bracing against the falling rain. No trace of sunlight through thick clouds and temps are stuck at 54. Hunkered down as morning walkers choose cars for transport, joining commuters traveling out of town. Open parking along the gateway to the sandy shore, the silence is broken by sounds of power being released from the ocean against the seawall. No rest for the wicked on this Monday.

CHANNEL:  W swell lost in ocean motion as the wind rips through with great force. Wild white water near and far, with no shape nor form. Not a day to test Mother Nature. Best to wait and watch safely from in side.

PATCH:  The hiss of the sea // from the hallow of a shell // soft ocean whispers

“Pressure is something you feel when you don’t know what the hell you’re doing.” - Peyton Manning.

Levitating 55* F haze. We're at trough of the tidal decline now and place our trust in regrowth. Salty footprints litter swollen lot. Suits drip into Sunday puddles, further evidence of time well spent. In addition, the WHO, what, when, how, why are left stranded by the weightless at sea. Energies still holding on. Are they slipping away? Go surf.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Opportunities multiply as they are seized.” - Sun Tzu

The storm has passed and a haze of minor consequence falls upon the BO while we find lightened breezes and 46 degrees. Lifted fog, effortless sunshine and a lack of rain has many in good spirits and ready to conquer all that the day presents. New swells under construction are building a foundation for weekend action. As the tide continues to fill the basin, shapes for sliding can and will be had.

CHANNEL:  Where yesterday chaos reigned today we find a transcendent calm. Not much of magnitude in the early low tide hours but those with a fluid grasp of time will allow the shapes to reveal themselves. An influx of water will make for activities wholly worth engagement.

PATCH:  I’ve got wheels, I’ve got cutter spray. And a healthy sense of worth. Half of me is gasoline, but the other half’s the surf. So if I wait for a holiday could it stop my fear? To go away on a summer’s day never seemed so clear.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” - Henry David Thoreau

Alternation of precipitation as we are back on the rain train today. SW winds as expected further dampening down the positive vibes that were beginning to flow. Temp tepid at 51F but expectations of sun seem nil this morning. The coastline reveals only unfortunate disappointment and despair for those with slides in mind. Low tide and current guilty breezes blowing in the wrong direction are spoiling the party early. Hold onto hope for changes occur rapidly and new NW swell is poised to strike in the near future.

CHANNEL:  Water volumes are low and power reduction is evident. Rideable shapes hard to imagine or conjure in their present form. There is beauty to be found and enjoyed but one must look inward and inland to find it today.

PATCH:  A rocky, sandy shore extending many yards and many directions. Even the most needy of the SUP tribe is absent, which speaks volumes on its own accord. Any activity here will require more water and a stern will to succeed as the winds have other plans for the moment.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The most violent element in society is ignorance.” - Emma Goldman

Portents of spring as renewed rain fades and clear skies are slowly revealed. Warming sun is manifest though a chill of 43F is current. NE winds will help to provide the heated air for later in the day. Rampant swells running wild with WNW mixes fully approved. Early low tide on the comeback trail and adding water to the stew full of ingredients well blended and tasty. A deep high tide rings in the noon hour and expected swamping and slowing likely to occur.

CHANNEL:  Even the untrained eye can spot the sliding opportunities and unleashed potential. Shapes directly out front have the boat ramp attendees aligning spines and chi with low tide exits coming fast and furious. As we work past the shallows, an increase in water will allow for activities worth engagement. The Channel bars seem the secondary option which sometimes contains hidden gems.

PATCH:  With more N and W in the concurrent swells the Patch angle of inception is skewed though not insurmountable. The outside meeting rock beckons early while the standard low tide hazards begin to recede. Benefiting from more water as the minutes pass but a power outage likely upon the highest tide. There are slides and rides for the taking and you can make some of them yours.

Fairy floss coated sky with pink and blue tones as the sun emerges from slumber. Chilly to begin at 45 with a slight breeze activating chicken skin and a few white fingers. Humidity high as clouds are on the way bringing rain by late afternoon. For now a reprieve from atmospheric activity as parking is plenty, for spring breakers are else where finding stoke. Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Let your inner queen’s voice come through loud and clear. Be strong, be authentic, be you, and you’ll do her proud.” - Queen Latifah

Etched shadows growing downward as the suns’ brilliance rises upwards casting golden hues all around. Perfectly still, not a hint of breeze as birds sing from tree tops in unison. Morning commuters reluctantly turn the key towards the daily grind to start the week. Court side spaces partially filled with hangers on, stretching out the last few moments of the weekend. Against the current walking towards the shore to feel the sand between our toes and feed our souls; what a wonderful direction to be in.

CHANNEL:  High tide rushing up the boat ramp with force and might. Reflection waves from the wall have more form and strength making water entry tough. WNW swell on the horizon though is unable to get through currently. As tide drops wave formations should appear by noon. Bring a long sled, keep expectations low and good vibes high.

PATCH:  Mushy and slightly lumpy with no shape or size. Just like this mornings organic cottage cheese. With an extra helping of fruit and honey, everything tastes better a little sweet.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“It is when we act freely, for the sake of the action itself rather than for ulterior motives, that we learn to become more that what we were. ” - Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

Traveling fog, light in color and a cool dampness to the touch, seeps through nooks and crannies as the sun tries to break way. Calm and chill, with outside temps hovering at 45 to start with hopes of climbing warmth by mid-day. Parking games well underway as morning weekend warriors start the search for the pot of gold in a secret spot. Leprechauns working their magic pinching those in black neoprene who can bee seen. Through the gates into sandy heaven, seeing is believing. Decipher the words and read between the lines to understand the true meaning.

CHANNEL:  Smooth and glassy on the surface with a hint of W swell at peak high tide. Ocean motion moving forward with purpose, yet too much water to hold form. Practice patience and wait for the perfect moment. Those who ask and believe will receive the greatest benefits.

PATCH:  A gaggling group of Leprechauns out in full force practicing Gaelic left and right, knee slapping in between. Follow the rainbow to the very end and hidden treasures can be yours. Or, you can go hang a door.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Act the way you'd like to be and soon you'll be the way you act. ” - Leonard Cohen

55F with promise of more. Pink sun ball springs from windless land. Light questions everything dew-covered and everything wet answers. Committee of wigless judges gather at the edge of the liquid palace where entropy is everyone’s friend. The essence of the eye is judgement. Order, order, claim the judges! Sea is called to the stand. Judges decree: “Yesterday was preferable. Tomorrow might be worse.” Meanwhile, dissenting jury smiles at the sea and the sea smiles back. From which bench do you sit today?

CHANNEL:  At 37°54'15.5"N 122°41'09.1"W, 8:37:32 PST (t=0) a transverse wave from WNW 292° and/or SSW 205° moving across resilient sandy bar plane (X) toward boat ramp (Y) commenced angle phase (y(x,,t)=Asin(kx∓ωt+ϕ)). At t=2, hydrogen and oxygen particles between surface and bottom exhibited harmonic motion with phase angle of sin(6.28ft−1x−1.57s−1t), sufficient to tickle cortices above baseline stokage level for sample size n=9 (3 short inside, 4 long outside, 2, SUP wherever) temporarily ocean-bound humanoids as evidenced by exuberant post dismount flop. Tidal squeeze may add some ease. Join, if possible.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Do not wait until the conditions are perfect to begin. Beginning makes the conditions perfect.” - Alan Cohen

The lightest haze as we rise while the sun seeks a pathway through. Temps chilled out and down to a brisk 38F finding a necessity for puffy coats. Skies have opened up and are welcoming and blue with cascading good vibes. Winds if they exist are neither felt nor seen. Complexities abound and discovery is in the process. Hope remains even as swells fade for the lower tides brought clarity and consistency. The weekend approaches, time to get the jam started.

CHANNEL:  With determination comes a measure of enjoyment though higher morning tides do not play to your favor. The ramp bar remains in fine form with height and duration of minimized degrees. As the tide drops exposure will increase and perhaps a triumphant return of the past evening’s stoke as well.

PATCH:  Morning tide has hidden all rocks and sand fills in the blank spaces. Deep journeys to Africa may result in burning triceps but also special rewards. The inside province now benefiting from a new SW swell of enough magnitude to move logs. Get in and make yourself known.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” - Confucius

Cool and clear with the song of the lonely Whippoorwill in the background. Rising sun with predictions of warmth may yet be another signal that spring is taking hold though we start the morning at 41F. Winds have thankfully calmed and may resume from the E bringing more tepid temps. Large NW swell depreciating throughout the day but still slanted and enchanted with residual powers. A trio dons the suits and boots as something always beats nothing and a dose of stoke can carry the day.

CHANNEL:  Splashed with full sunshine and a dropping high tide to set the motion and wheels spinning. A hospitable NW swell of consequential size now in the waning hours while the tide retreats. The pursuit begins out front with the Boat Ramp sandbar a seemingly permanent fixture to contend with. Future fortunes are unpredictable but the now shows signs of an effort rewarded.

PATCH:  Blanket of silence makes me want to sink my teeth in deep. Burn all the evidence of fabricated disbelief. Pull back the curtains, took a look into your eye. My tongue has now become a platform for your lies.
