Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“A society that fears knowledge is a society that fears itself.” - Bernard Beckett

Tranquil and dreamy under coastal clouds and nil winds. A smoothness upon the seas with surf remaining on the far margins while the tide expands to its peak. Sunlight may be an option today but currently hidden away though temps respond at 56F. All the feels are from the W and not captivating much of our shoreline. Lower your expectations and raise your spirits as you seek the stoke that sustains us all.

CHANNEL: Seas drift towards Seadrift as the optimization occurs here. A half dozen of the devoted follow along and enjoy the ride and occasional slide as it is the time of in-betweens. Outside undulations give rise to promise and spurious action. Anticipation runs high and the siren’s call can lead to elation or heartbreak.

PATCH: Inside runners under high tide headings with quick entry and exits applicable. For now the briny teeth remain covered but always lurking, watching, waiting. Chopped salad for all, lunch is served.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” - Albert Einstein

A day of calm and settled grey as a fog moves in and overcast envelops the village. Temp mild at 56F and light SW winds swirl along the ocean’s edge. Generous helpings of ocean as the early high tide rises and wets the beach. Now on the drain with negative readings ahead. Under current conditions is does remain surfable yet not optimally formed as tide, wind and swell are not all in full cooperation mode.

CHANNEL: Conceptually correct yet not yielding all the required stoke results. A crested westerly swell fighting through the morning highs and battling some wind elements to make its presences known. A solo slider takes aim under the watchful eye of the steel pole of reckoning. Positive Mental Outlook wins today. #askBruce

PATCH: Something’s wrong cause my mind is fading. And everywhere I look there’s a dead end waiting. Temperature’s dropping at the rotten oasis. Stealing kisses from the leprous faces.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“To achieve the possible, we must attempt the impossible again and again.” - Hermann Hesse

Warm silence blanketing our tiny town while the sun blazes on. No tree movement for the invisible man has blown away left to tousle leaves elsewhere. Morning walkers greet each other with passing how-to-do’s and smiling faces. Hands reach high, blocking light from looking eyes, as a few search for a common direction. The call has been made and to the left they march.

CHANNEL: Calm and glassy, the wind has retreated leaving peelers just right of the pole. Knee high slappers and ankle bitters rolling in with just enough push to ride. Long sleds the key to success with an extra paddle or two. Currently two prone positioned warriors out taking turns.

PATCH: You can’t always get what you want. You can’t always get what you want. You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, well, you might find. You get what you need.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Passion + Persistence = Possibility.” - Jon Bon Jovi

Breezy warm gusts puffing through trees as leaves scatter before tumbling down. Mild to begin at 57 while the sun makes her way through the great blue erasing cloudy beginnings. The vacancy sign hangs sideways, a clear indication the weekend has come and gone, for one can count on three fingers occupied spaces. The playground is open for all to enjoy, though most are preoccupied with activity elsewhere.

CHANNEL: Fanning back spray off the top of forward moving lumps and bumps as the wind is strong this morning. W swell showing signs of life against the wind in the knee height range across Channel proper. Strong arms are needed for the extra forward push to gain traction. Carefully choose when to commit and remember to over paddle.

PATCH: Meeting rock holding a party for one this AM. Lacking outward discussion, one is left to internalize their own thoughts and thoughtful intentions. A solitary act, with strong arms enlightenment is reached at knee level.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!” - Dr. Seuss

Wooly walkers, a trio with horns, bump and shuffle towards shore, passing by waking bodies in various states of undress, rubbing sleep from eyes. Patterns of muted sun etched by clouds as temps are cool to begin at 48. High leveled sand carpeting half the ramp as descendants make their way to mecca. A collective of hopefuls gather left and right securing sticks with velcro tight. A few steps into the great blue before arms take over the journey.

CHANNEL: Scattered crews dotted across, seeking the answer to unlock the secret code. W swell remains primary, though energy and height have come down since yesterday. An angled right, in the knee height, just left of the pole marks the spot for enlightenment. Shared space for all and look left before going right.

PATCH: Pirates head yonder from the meeting rock on the hunt for rumored treasure. The journey is long and not for the weak, as arms tire halfway. Those who are committed to the cause, find refuge at the knee for a moment or two.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward.” - Ellen Glasgow

Leap Day has brought the promise of mass confusion and mild temps as the day rings loud and clear. Rare moments of peace and clarity are surrounded by chaos and crowds as a determined W swell seeks footing along our bottom contours. No heaving, just gentle churning, leaving some longing and yearning yet slides are available if you look deep within.

CHANNEL: A cat-and-mouse game being played as shapes of consequence prove elusive in the early morning hours. Tide leveling off and keeping on the lower range may ultimately provide less rather than more. Look towards the afternoon hours to provide any substance. There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.

PATCH: A contingent of a dozen and more dot the surface at various ranges. Log-jams and gridlock may occur but can also be easily avoided as the breakers are spread far and wide. Forms of the BoBo GoSlow size have a quality rightly suited to the biggest and flattest of boards. Keep and eye on your six and slide your life away.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“No medicine cures what happiness cannot.” - Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Another day of magnificent spring with early temps of 49F and crystal clear skies. Raise high the roof beams and celebrate the good as later consequences will always need to be paid. At present, a large portion of the population is getting in, getting out or getting on. Parking already on the thinner side and rapidly diminishing. Solid but not epic as we pass morning low tide vectors. Winds are non existent and there are plenty of slides to satiate the masses.

CHANNEL: As waters recede, just enough action remains to keep all entertained and the inner stoke fire alive. Take off points are spread generously as all sliders seem certain they can read the future. Rare sets of merit have shown workable walls and hollow interiors. Expect a crowd if you bring it on down and remember, there’s no parking on the dance floor.

PATCH: Multiple figures cast shadows on outside peelers as combo swells team up to tantalize. As the crowd grows, expect several souls to compete for the same prize with flapping arms and gritted teeth. Over the shoulder glances and epoxy dances await all who enter but the stoke flows freely and should ultimately bring smiles.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Self-trust is the first secret of success.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Though a minor chill endures in the early hours another day of warmth is promised as the day unwinds. Feelings of summer now in the air with temp levels rising and short pants the new SOP. Current patronage a mix of the notable and visitor as spring break continues for some institutions of academia. Pervasive W swell on two fronts providing the propulsive forces and the refilling tide may lend help to the curls already in progress.

CHANNEL: With horizontal travel on the mind we gaze upon sun strewn sands and burnished hillsides in search of that which will stoke the mind and body. West swell and improving tide are the positives that lend hope while the visuals barely pass the eye test. A duo donning neoprene are the first to attempt and seem keen on what exists in the present tense.

PATCH: With the lower tide now pushing back the seekers traverse elongated distances to sample the morning offerings. Open beach access and minor spirals are the draw this fine day but the shadows cast are fleeting. The further depths seem to hold the pledge of emerging rides while the inner regions sputter to life under a bit more water. Wall huggers survey the landscape while the righteous few engage.

“Character is much easier kept than recovered.” - Thomas Paine

Silent and still, the sun shines down her warm vitamin D rays with no wind in sight. Vacant openness, dealers choice for parking as walkers descend down the ramp, trying to keep up with their four legged friends. Warm to begin at 56 and climbing to 68, feeling summer in winter, as the swell mimics the very same pattern.

CHANNEL: No sign of the W swell, as sparkling tiny bumps move closer, only to crumble in the ankle range on the sets. Ocean currents are mellow as the tide moves in slowly. No one out, working paddle arms, as most are watching and waiting for a sign of life from shore.

PATCH: Log Lady has a message from far beyond, only a select few can understand. Come on then, her log does not judge. The owls are not what they seem and cherry pie is always on the menu.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.” - Steve Jobs

Sun shiny coffee chats atop the wall with smiling faces, shielding blinding sun rays with back of hands as laughter fills the air. Sandy fishermen, armed ready at their poles, cast hopeful lines in white water crumbles, patiently waiting for the bell to ring. Down in size, the ocean swells elsewhere as lapping water edges slowly up the shore with the in-coming tide.

CHANNEL: NW swell trailing beyond horizon, leaving little push and size in Channel proper. Sets in the shin height crumble over slowly as white water remains in slow motion. A gang of three banded together, share in the small offerings, happy to be salty on a Monday.

PATCH: Calm and still, the Patch remains blue without white. Seagulls bob ever so slightly while the lone seal dips and dives. Sandy meditation for now as we wait for the afternoon.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Don’t let your brain interfere with your heart.” - Albert Einstein

An early morning walrus and dos equis sighting sets the daily tone, as parking is beyond full. Endless circling games with no end in sight, as the early birds have caught the worms and have spread roots for the day. Vibrating waxy sounds off multiple sticks the background music as the parade marches forward. In-coming tide swinging towards the wall, filling the void of opportunity fast. Buoy readings are not what they seem in reality as most are questioning the answer. Those checking egos at the door, unlock the key to success.

CHANNEL: Close quarters as more squeeze in at arms reach. NW swell sauntering forward in the knee to thigh range directly out front of the pole. One peak currently working as two dozen vie for position, left and right. Know thy neighbor and forego visions of solo rides, for the party is not slowing down for one.

PATCH: A few pony up to the gathered space, hoping to join the team and win the race. The right equipment is needed for angled turns around the bend at the knee. Go slow to go fast for it’s a long vision game. The tortoise always wins.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Open your arms to change but don’t let go of your values.” - Dalai Lama

New day with new beginnings that we welcome with open hearts and minds. Plenty of early activity and scuttlebutt under clear skies and temps rising to 50F. A taste of NW winds but nothing too concerning or detrimental. Available parking is on the shuffle as yellow tagged rigs relocate and regroup while tainting the air with critical exhausts. Logical ocean appraisal will calm the inner voice. Stare past the current chaos and you will eventually realize it is all just a matter of finding the right line for trim.

CHANNEL: A revolving left has shown and can be actuated on boards of smaller length. The incoming tide has desires on pushing towards the right with steel pole implements and submerged concrete pony walls to be navigated over or around. The early hours present no crowding issues but that will not last as many are wiping sleep from their eyes and focusing on the prize.

PATCH: A crowd sits at any and all service windows while a phantom SW swell makes itself known. Nourishment is offered in small portions that must be shared with your neighbor and newly acquainted friends. Slides will be attempted and completed but likely not of the solo variety. Peaking tide may add volume to the festivities but recent days action remained on the lesser levels of water.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Learn from your dreams what you lack in your life.” - W. H. Auden

Brilliant sunlight and the crispness of spring with vanishing chill as temps stand at 52F. We gaze upon relatively calm seas with a quiet longing in the early hours, and yet that call may be lightly heard. The temps and tide will continue their rise, but will they end up delivering any shapes of merit or consequence? Swell activity sits at a lower ebb and has concentrations from the W, but these are merely details to be ignored in your worthy pursuits.

CHANNEL: Pre-dawn MaliBo options coming to an end as incoming tide hits peak heights and beyond. Though swell direction is favorable for this locality the outgoing tide will eventually have the final say in what measure of stoke gets delivered. For now, a small range of possibilities endure in the truest sense while the afternoon hours are not promised anything more than existence.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure.” - William Feather

An early chill of impermanence as a risen sun and NE airs have plans for warmth and beauty. The tide is full and it is both colder and warmer than the calendar would indicate. Natural processes are defied and reasonable order may never return. Swell remainders are active yet diminutive therefore lending deference to bringing the big logs out. Lineups are initially thin but the immediate future may bring more of everything.

CHANNEL: Small yet consequential breakers form footprints in the sand as the incoming tide lends just enough push to flip a switch. Either left of right - the ride is mere seconds and borders on negligible save for the ones that open up and allow free play to occur.

PATCH: Gulls and lulls as a stillness hangs over like a wool blanket. A quartet of the fiercely determined have little more than hope on which to slide. Micro peelers and smiles stealers along the inside may yield a measure of stoke. A log of consequence and clear vision may allow one to find some slides to start the day.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Life doesn’t run away from nobody. Life runs at people.” - Smokin’ Joe Frazier

Bright yellow sunshine above easing the 45 degree chill nipping at fingers and toes. Open parking, organized white stripes lay waiting to guide vehicles in as sheep chat among themselves. Down the ramp sand is creeping halfway up blanketing the rocky bottom. Far yonder, the ocean is calm with little movement as two seals play tag with delight.

CHANNEL: Outgoing current creating small wakes as the ocean retreats this morning and afternoon. One small crumble in the shin height just right of the pole, rolling in every 7 min or so. No one out working on paddle arm strength as footprint trails around the corner.

PATCH: Nonchalant - non.cha.lant. - /adjective/: (of a person or manner) feeling or appearing casually calm and relaxed. Not displaying interest or enthusiasm.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Change is never easy, but always possible.” - Barack Obama

Peeking through floating gray layers, familiar faces dressed in happy smiles with big hug greetings, warms the heart and feeds the soul. Cold to begin at 44, with temperatures climbing and the sun working her magic with the fog. Gathered on the wall feeling all the feels of friends and nature mixed with a bit of sand. A mysterious adventure lies ahead past the foam welcome mat creeping towards shore.

CHANNEL: Floating fog inches above the oceans surface hiding what lies beyond the pole. One lone 9.6’ emerges from the smoke with wet shins and a matching grin. W swell retreating to the horizon leaving small shin high wavelets slowly rolling to shore. Long sleds the only choice of vehicle for today.

PATCH: A mysterious guessing game for those whom take the plunge. Trust your gut feeling.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Most brilliance arises from ordinary people working together in extraordinary ways.” - Roger von Oech

Iridescent clouds filtering sunshine muted in yellow upon the ground. A faint hint of wind flows through trees, feeling warm touching skin, as temps begin at 52. The Sunday scaries have been put on hold for Monday, as most revel in a bonus Saturday on this day of rest. Traveled sand covering all but one rock whom lays in waiting on shore. Twinkling glitter surface, the ocean is calm with glassy sunlight reflections with little movement of any kind. A handful sit and wait, bobbing in the even keel wishing for more.

CHANNEL: Mellow and chill, W swell is all but a faded memory of yesterday’s past. Glassy and still the ocean’s lackadaisical energy can been seen and felt. The smallest bump materializes and with an extra paddle or 5, an ankle bitter pushes to shore for a fleeting moment.

PATCH: Gone are the gathered masses, as one prone positioned warrior looks to the horizon for a sign of any kind. Without answers to the calls, they are left waiting and wondering. Forward movement left to arm paddle strength moving closer to shore.
