Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Remember when life's path is steep to keep your mind even." - Horace

A chilly morning hits the sea shore with wind and rain. Low air temperature of 50F is making for a bitter walk out. As of now parking is a plenty and there remains no crowd. Stormy weather keeping the water moving in every direction with little positivity to be found. Know your limits, exceed your limits.

CHANNEL:  No real shape found here as the water levels begin to drop and the storm works its way through the channel with some power.

PATCH:  Hardly a chance here to find a decent ride due to stormy slush. Better luck another day.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"So remember, it's better to burn out than fade away." - Kurt Cobain

A thawing trend with temps coming in positively balmy at 42F.  Skies remain overcast and dry though low pressure winds blow seeds of change on the horizon.  NW swells eases back but still shows promising energy.  A micro-tic from the S lends itself to the fray and adds a conservative dose of fortune to the merry mix.  Holiday revelers remain en masse with evening activities taking priority over watery pursuits.  A small battery of sliders have their territory marked and are managing quite nicely in the early hours.

CHANNEL:  Settled and subdued with more shape and less body.  Nominal helpings of left leering peaks go un-ridden as the playing field remains absent of heros.  A hopeful right has emerged as a contender just out front and has proner proclivities in mind.  Justifiably empty if superior rides are your aim though the solitude beckons to those on the correct frequency.

PATCH:  Languid liquid with emerging shapes draw log jammers from all corners.  Fine lines are in the offering with heights coming in at a heady thigh high.  Rights are revealing themselves in the dwindling tide and may hold form as water levels remain above zero.  Lightly textured as E winds form a crossbreed with Kentucky bluegrass.  A welcome site to visualize Patch waves and the current crew is attacking with relish.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Don't count the days.  Make the days count." - Muhammad Ali

Denizens of the deep and those that never sleep ringing in the New Year with resolute determination.  All free space occupied by mobile locals with alternative living quarters spilling over into the realm of sensibility.  Lowlands show a heavy freeze with crackling temps into the low 20s.  Coastal reality has clear skies and a rising sun with conflicted wind gusts that have temps on the rise and currently 38F.  Textured tops as NE puffs swirl sand and spray though not keeping the devoted away from their rituals.  Take a centered deep breath.  Hold.  Release.  Now dive into the ocean and allow the year to begin.

CHANNEL:  Heavy with hope as a steeper NW swell begins to build.  Tidal tendencies have water levels a bit on the full side.  Clear and crisp with welcoming water temps that exceed the air level degrees significantly.  Less than perfect and finding better results in the deeper Channel region.  Bumps breaching both right and left with shorter rides than desired but slides nonetheless.  Jump in and wash it all off.  Begin anew as the calendar page has turned for the better.

PATCH:  A cautious crowd of the misguided and sanctioned mingle as holiday revelers mix with weekday regulars.  Worlds collide as it all comes together on this Day 1 of 2016.  A veritable plethora of minimalistic waves seems to be working in the general direction of the upper thigh.  There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"The mind ought sometimes to be diverted that it may return to better thinking." - Phaedrus

Bone dry and blatantly cold as we end the current calendar year.  Clear skies full of colors and sun helps to only warm spirits at temps plummet to 34F.  A calm reflective aura inhabits the hamlet and current activity levels remain minor.  A lingering NW swell seeks to find purchase upon the bars as tidal factors and wind ratios do not inhibit such.  The options remain endless though the contributions to the cause seem lackluster in considered opinion.

CHANNEL:  A searching trio with determined goals seeks to end the year upon a high note.  With nearly tranquil waters upon which to ply one's efforts a lower level breaker is all that greets.  Reflective in the early light and allowing for passing time between paddling efforts to think back upon the past 364 days.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"The biggest problem with every art is by the use of appearance to create a loftier reality." - Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Winter has clearly settled in for the morning as temps hover around the icicle line.  A zen-like stillness hangs over the village like the cloud cover. A determined minimalism dominates both parking areas and the breakers, and it seems the young Americans that have been such a factor in recent days have wisely chosen to sleep in.  Hot tea and hot towels may be the perfect prescription today, as a slider's menu offerings may be meager.

CHANNEL:  The unusual sight of exposed sand and an area resembling an actual beach greets one's gaze at low tide. A single sentinel seeks solace amongst calm waters. A quiet place to reflect upon the year's passing, yes, but hardly shapes of quality.

PATCH: The usual faces going through SUP paces as fair-to-midland shapes are all that's revealed  at this early hour. Look towards the future and focus on spinal alignment as the day ahead will require the hunter's eye and the sniper's  patience.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"We spend our time searching for security and hate it when we get it." - John Steinbeck

Icy dew and multiple work crews line the path to paradise, as current temps lie south of the freezing mark. This clearly matters little, as a veritable seven nation army has already occupied any and all parking. The logic behind this invasion is questionable, at best, as current conditions and line-up totals have no relation to the bedlam taking place upon icy blacktop. It  appears that a prototypical BO day is upon us, but that the masses feel as though they've been promised  more.

CHANNEL:  Though hope hangs high in a morning sky, the shadows of  many a paddle tell  oanother realityWind swell making noise does not a symphony make. Though potential lies in state, acknowledge what is.

PATCH: As is so often the case, a cavalcade of logs already calls the Patch home, as some rides of merit are had. The shadows cast indicate a classic day of single-fin beasts and breezes from the northeast. As a moth to flame, be prepared to be aware of your surroundings.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Radical simply means 'grasping at the root' " - Angela Davis

Though all routes to the hamlet this morning are a heady mix of dense fog and black ice, the skies are currently remarkably clear. Harbor no illusions about the glowing orb providing warmth or illumination, as neither is found at present. The usual suspects don neoprene in ample doses and plod towards calm seas. The possibilities are endless, yet limited, as often located within, so you can count everyone out.

CHANNEL:  A no wake zone is in effect in the early hours, as low water signals are looking to mingle, or at least make languid conversation with desolation angels.

PATCH: Sluggish, like a wet sponge.  Though entering the fray comes with remarkable ease, one's desire and intent to  do so raises questions. Gather your reserves and a quiet patience as it will behoove all sliders to wait until the sun raises higher overhead, and low-tide vectors have passed.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves." - John Muir

Full moon tidings as brilliant twilight blends into the new day.  Post white Christmas milieu with frost covered surfaces as far as the eye can see.  Rise and shine and shake off the holiday hangover and food coma with a treat for the body and soul. Still a few unwrapped gifts left to be discovered.  Dispense with platitudes and carve out some prime time to experience the day to its full extent.  Remedial NW swell still hanging on and new winds puff gently from the offshore directives.  Sun kissed and chilled out at 32F makes for a great start to a day full of promise.

CHANNEL:  Shifted and lifted with rollers of the leftover variety merging into the deeper waters of the Channel and finding purchase along the Seadrift bars as well.  Wisps of luminous spray off the backs of wanton walls of water as breakers bump along at less than waist high capacity.  Fiery sun lighting the path which is iced over and torture on toes.  A hale and hearty crew is upon it with cares abandoned and stoke in their eyes.

PATCH: Lesser in quality and surfer quantity as well though offering up tastes that should still be sampled.  A paddle wielding duo has set forth with their eyes on the outside prize.  A mounting tide gives rise to extra propulsive powers and currently still allows for easy entry while keeping rocks at bay.  A fine option to inaugurate your day and sure to present peaks predicted in the thigh high range.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. Do not judge the universe. - Dalai Lama

Damp and dreary as we gaze to the north with eyes slightly bleary.  A partitioned sky marked marked with wine and indigo gives the faithful moments of redemption amongst an overcast and drenching backdrop.  A frenzied pattering of feet and furious application of wax signals game on for those guided more by circumstance and determination than by reasoned thought process.  As solid NW swells assimilate and organize the tides and zephyrs also build in an effort to thwart and confound.  Let's all join hands and sing a round of Kumbayah.

CHANNEL:  The recently reunited collegiate youth are making a purposeful assault on ocean entry.  Slightly smoothed seas show promise though are a far cry from a considered groomed.  A palpable excitement exists as breakers yawn wide swaths of aquatic energy with carnage being the most observed results of their journey.  A keen eye can spot the pearl but getting it in one's grasp is a slippery situation as best.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"People sleep peaceably in their beds only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell

A beaming sunshine cuts through a wistful mist as if the rays were a guiding light, or siren's call. Certainly this call is being answered by the youth contingent as freedom from educational shackles equals no parking at present. Though a flurry of activity and various states of undress and redress are observed, one must wonder at the judgement and assessment capabilities of the young sliders this morn, as access to the breakers is less than ideal, with walls of whitewater dancing on blacktop.

CHANNEL:  A determined trio have not allowed reality or logic to interfere with the possibilities  and are making a determined charge upon the heaving seas. Though largely without form, these walls of madness churn towards buried sand and rock, mostly without slides being enjoyed. A carnival barker's dream as yelling and cajoling offers no prizes and an exit through the gift shop.

PATCH: High tide vectors and synapse connectors find mostly the sloshing of carbon paddles. A variety of watercraft are making themselves at home as outside shapes shake off the dense water to create  shapes being ridden, if not enjoyed.  Volume, volume, everything must go.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"War does not determine who is right- only who is left." - Bertrand Russell

Damp realities mix with downed trees and flooded knees at this early hour. Signal flares and near scares en route, so be mindful. The seas do not paint a welcoming portrait as the storms have churned and burned most hope for slides. Though filigree and shadow is observed, access will require fortitude and foolishness, which explains seas barren of sliders of any kind at present.

CHANNEL: A rare shape plays a hand that suggests reason for hope, but reveals it's bluff all too quickly. Windswept and churning, with little  expectation of improvement. No movement, no lyrics, just silence.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Make the best use of what is in your power, and take the rest as it happens." - Epictetus

Got all our polarities reconfigured and running clean.  Palpable positivity overwhelms as light slivers through current clouds as an energy beam sent from a greater powerSpirits lift as do hopes for a day mingled with ocean slides.  Another bout of evening rain as precursor to building NW swell and diminished winds.  Light textures to be revealed and accommodated as surfers salvage the treasures in the early light and dropping tide.

CHANNEL: Preliminary findings yield a data field of wildly merged results.  Though not nearly of legend status there does exist breakers directed by air and sea forces.  Blinding golden light encompasses the field of vision and plays tricks upon the mind.  Know your space in the universe and you will easily find your place in the lineup.

PATCH: Tokens dispensed and turnstiles wheel to allow one to pass into uncharted realms.  What wasn't now is as microwaved petite pulses can be mined for stoke and stand-up rides.  Elusive and alluring though present at the same time.  Unlock the rebus to receive the joy being bestowed.

"Nothing is more beautiful than the loveliness of the woods before sunrise." - George Washington Carver

Damp and dour in the early hour as sunlight attempts to pierce the mist.  Overnight sprinkles have brought another minor round of much needed rain but alas left the door open for S winds to enter.  Though swells continue to pulse and vibrate the overriding factor this morn is improperly directed chinooks.  The manifesting herd has dispersed leaving only stalwart soldiers in search of slides.  While the battle may be waged on many fronts it is already lost today for the wayward souls in play.

CHANNEL: A mixed bag of windswept peaks driven forth by the retreating front and harnessed within outgoing tides.  A keen and crafty outlook is required to find the positives in play though a trio prevails in what is best described as "sloppy" conditions.  The die has been cast and one must now play the numbers game to maximum potential.  The pass bet already has the odds stacked against you.

PATCH:
How can you say that you’re not responsible?
What does it have to do with me?
What is my reaction, what should it be?
Confronted by this latest atrocity
Driven to tears

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Peace is a day-to-day problem, the product of a multitude of events and judgments. Peace is a becoming." -  Haile Selassie

Shape shifting and time twisting as the dark morphs into a day of reality.  Another outbreak of enterprise as all manner of aquatic craft are being unhinged from rack and toted towards breakers.  With NW swell of larger numbers providing the impetus to enter the tides show more favorable integers and allow for easy access to what beach remains.  With winds slack and inviting the temp rings in at 39F and has some donning toe and head heat protection.  Glistening waters await with redemptive rollers for those in the giving spirit to share and enjoy.

CHANNEL: Though modest moxie exists upon the briny deep the sandbars are set and waiting for the perfect directional drama to come their way.  A fine mix of pulses seeking optimal bottom contours bob and weave to release periodic lefts that show promise in the dropping tide.  A ripe breaker heading in the opposite direction will yield more form and function but with less consistency than ultimately desired. Pursue all dreams today and rewards will always be forthcoming.

PATCH: Less appetizing upon initial glance yet luring seekers with wave engagement potential.  Tides have water levels open for occupancy at all points on the distant compass.  Currently open to those with purity in their pursuits.  Embraced to the full extent, today will require thoughtful contemplation and careful preparation in order to reveal the true meaning of the waves being dispensed.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"I postpone death by living, by suffering, by error, by risking, by giving, by loving." -  Anais Nin

Raise high the roof beams and greet another morning. It appears a holiday gathering is in effect, given the lack of parking and the flurry of activity that occurs at present. Friends and family of all ages don hooded suits as ceremonial robes and seek absolution among the breakers. Though conditions are far from those of legend, they are providing stoke, slides, and smiles to those whose vision is unclouded. The lion sleeps tonight indeed.

CHANNEL: The minimal energy of a Kraftwerk drone hums just above sandbars  both mystical and literal as a duo seeks the high line at low tide. Though it is one's first instinct to admire the determination, it appears that patience might have yielded larger dividends.  Look towards the future and seek knowledge from the ancient schools.

PATCH: Inside, outside, far and near as paddles toss foam and whitewater hither and yon. A baker's dozen morphs into an rugby scrum before our very  eyes. Log, egg, and those larger water craft dot a sun swept horizon. Though tempered expectations are a requirement, those with the right pair of eyes will see that moment where the wave crested, broke, and pulled the entire dream back into the sea.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"When did the future switch from being a promise to being a threat?" - Chuck Palahniuk

We find sundipped skies as we wonder why the dawn breaks as it does. Fog and mist en route, but the coast rings clear for all to hear. Though, at the current tidal levels, those heeding the siren's call are few. Be aware, dear ones, that this shall not last, as the immediate future brings illumination and probable slides and rides. As water fills in, so shall the deafening din, so find your time, your line, and seek the metaphysical anodyne...

CHANNEL: The district sleeps alone tonight, as the bars turn out their lights. Mellow ripples with wind seared tops at present, but due only to a lack of funds. Look for the ticking of the endless clock to show what you seek.

PATCH: The usual suspects have gathered, though without paddle at  present. Though expectations are low, conditions are resulting in mellow joy and toying ploys as slow rollers and diesel dredgers push the determined towards an uncertain tomorrow. Harbor no illusions that the line-up will remain so slim, as the raiders of stoke are certainly at the gate....
