Daily Surf Report - 12/14/2015

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
" At any given moment, public opinion is a chaos of superstition, misinformation, and prejudice." - Gore Vidal

A chill persists and gives no quarter to a risen sun at this early hour. Justice is so often sought, and as is the case with this morn, denied. Maligned, or at least out of alignment, not to put too fine a point on it. Heaps of poetry and zero facts. Take what you need and you leave the rest, but they should never have taken the very best....

CHANNEL: Far more bodies in the depths than reason, logic, or powers of observation would dictate. Surely, at first light and first glance, a shadow of some size is cast by the breakers, and it might seem welcoming. However, inventory levels must be lowered, so all shapes have been marked down for immediate closeout. Slides and rides of micro-seconds become walls of water about the head and neck. The whole world is watching....

PATCH: Though points of entry are more plentiful than in recent days, the stomping grounds of so many are the domain of the paddle-tribe only at present, and even these merchants of carbon must yield to a NW zephyrs of increasing malice. Tis' a sad state of affairs when even the low hanging stoke shall not be plucked, but that is indeed the case. Keep an eye towards the near future, as the offerings look to improve.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"I don't even listen to rap. My apartment is too nice to listen to rap in." - Yeezus

A storm is among us, heavy showers and high winds keep the temperature in the low 50's. Broken branches lie in the roads so be very cautious. No sign of human life as of now and most likely for the rest of the day. Know your limits and please be careful. Dangerous getting in and out via the boat ramp. Better off staying indoors.

CHANNEL: Too much water moving too quickly to be predictable. Overlapping swells turn to fast mush. Not suggested.

PATCH:
The water came quick, soaking my favorite socks.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing." - Socrates

Settled skies above though still a tumultuous sea below as we seek to make something positive from the current offerings.  Larger than large NW swell continues its visit and overwhelms in most capacities.  Winds are cooperative and grooming but water levels pulse and grow to furious heights before the plug gets pulled and it all drains away.  Early access more forgiving though those opportunities are rapidly diminished with smashing triumphs.  Slide scouts are on the prowl and a steady stream of the suited + booted are descending upon our shores. Tread lightly and give thanks and you may be rewarded with total consciousness.

CHANNEL: Much water moving though spatial integrity leaves much to be desired.  An assemblage of rough riders are on it with varying degrees of success and failure mixed well this morning.  Broad breakers are summoned from the depths to deliver challenges to be faced head on and tamed.  Early eager patrons of the brine have set their sites on liberal lefts which have more tendency to close than remain open for biz.  Intermingled among the chaos are some gems to be mined like crystals from the deep.  Stay thirsty my friends.

PATCH:
Sometimes it feels
Like the world’s stuffed with feathers
Table-bottom gum
Just holding it together

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people." - Carl Jung

Night lurkers and stoke searchers gather at the edge of the world and prepare to take the plunge.  Entry and exit will remain a formidable issue to tackle all day.  Current NW swell reaching double digits on all measurable parameters and winds are slack and inviting.  Building tide pushing aquatic levels to the breaking point and you can get wet today without even trying.   Skies remain clear and temps are leveled off and crisp at 44F.  If you search within and summon a modicum of faith rewards are out there for the taking.  Deep breaths and centered focus are required as are a good set of paddling appendages.

CHANNEL: Rearing rollers from the depths are penetrating the surface and emerging with wide swaths upon which to ply the trade.  Outside breakers offer more manageable forms as high tide keeps it soft though plenty of water moving around.  Upon the inner bar interesting transformations occur as shallow footings cause an upheaval and unleash the spin cycle variations.  If you approach with caution and resolve some treasures may come your way.

PATCH:  A less agressive option though still no easy way to gain access.  Not nearly as organized as many would hope as swell direction dictates scraps and offshoots in the offering.  A determined duo has ventured forth and awaits the approval of those upon the cliffs needing inspiration and inclination.  Pulsing poppers that can swarm and overwhelm mixed with lesser evils that can graciously push.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them." - Bruce Lee

High velocity vectors mingle with low level decision making on a playing field not suited for fish nor fowl.  Though skies are currently moisture free they will not remain that way for long as periodic deluges are on the menu today.  With calming notes and platitudes on the horizon the damage has already been done.  Rising seas and SW winds have already played havoc with conditions though that will not deter the fledgling souls daring to put foam and fins upon the ocean today.  Be advised that water weight 8 pounds per gallon and plenty is currently moving both on land and at sea.

CHANNEL: From a purely observational perch one can see hope on muddled vistas.  Disorder and chaos are the recipes of the day though a small contingent of emboldened individuals plots their portal to glory.  The day holds the makings for adventure though possibly best suited for land at this time.

PATCH:  Getting less looks and rightfully so with the forlorn feeling of a sole wallflower at the highschool dance.  No takers - No problem as there is even less potential upon these waters this soggy morning.  The Patch will blossom beautifully and have her day but not today I am afraid.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"From pacifist to terrorist, each person condemns violence, and then adds ones cherished case in which it may be justified." - Gloria Steinem

Mysterious signals and signs barely visible mix with a steady rain as we greet yet another day in the village. The air is charged with the smell of the sea and tumult. Though a small brigade of sliders has attempted inroads and beachheads, they are rebuked with smile and wry nod from chaotic breakers and literal and metric tons of water. Same as it ever was...

CHANNEL: A lone sentinel seeks some order from the waking nightmare that is the channel at this hour. Even from a distance, the air of panic is palpable, as every motion of shoulder and hand is mere moments from being swept out and over. This is not my beautiful house...

PATCH: A broken field of disorder and disappointment. A virtual buffet of madness and despair. A surf DMZ, if you will. Though it is certain that a foolhardy few will still don neoprene and a misguided confidence, one's efforts might be more wisely exerted in a centering breath and an alignment of chi. Letting the water hold me down....

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Let me just say; Peace to you, if you're willing to fight for it." - Fred Hampton

Black Metal vibes eschew the attempts of scribes to paint an accurate picture of current conditions. A fog both mental and physical weighs heavy in dense morning air. It would appear the maddening crowds have sought solace elsewhere, and the number of observers in the mystical crow's nest is thin. The views provided show great sound, fury, frustration, and an unhinged quality difficult to name, all signifying nothing.

CHANNEL: Rip and dip as seas rage and pound proverbial fists against bars of sand. A resolute steel marker provides only thin outlines in heavy mist. Perhaps as waters recede in the hours to come slides may be had, but that is uncertain and unwritten, The cities we live in could be distant stars...

PATCH: A refined chaos and a terrible beauty as shapes heave and bellow into a undefined light. Shapes are only suggested and shadows of merit are not to be found. The patch finds no takers, and with good reason. Sea fowl sit atop whitewater and confusion as boards stay in bags and faces reflect disappointment and  a silent resignation....

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Everybody's worried about how to stop terrorism. Well, there's a really easy way: stop participating in it." - Noam Chomsky

Haze for days and a mist that feels permanent as we enter the house of sand and fog at present. Chaos reigns and rains as the seas heave and bellow with an air of menace. So many sit atop high perches and plan a route of entry, or determine personal mettle, as even entering an unrelenting series of breakers requires a heady mix of resolve and insanity. Audible groans mix with ominous tones as a thick peanut gallery observes the carnage and tries to retain dry pantaloons and footwear. The park is closed, the moose out front should have told you...

CHANNEL: Great work, if you can get it. Consistent walls of overhead whitewater smash into barriers of paint adorned and largely scorned concrete. Several of the foolhardy have already admitted defeat and unflinchingly removed themselves from the active roster. Oil may burn light and provide the fodder for legend and celebration, but the sea tells no tales. Leave the kids at home.

PATCH: Up the stairs and over a wall that is both literal and figurative, as shaped foam and glass have already been sacrificed this fine morn. Current high levels of the blue stuff make for brutal entrance to exits. As stated above the observation and conservation corps outnumbers the figures in the breach, and with good reason.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"It takes a long time to become young." - Pablo Picasso

A storm is brewing! Surf and driftwood hit our beach with high velocity. Grey skies leave us trapped in the dark. High winds keeping the temperature low and the mist is keeping us damp. Powerful NW swell mixed with the current storm has nothing but white caps as far as the eye can see. Bad day for beginners or anyone really, no safe way to enter, no safe way to exit.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root." - Henry David Thoreau

Car campers and ramp dancers converge as we let our minds interpret what our eyes have seen.  We survey into the future without remembering the past or accepting the now.   Large faceted NW swell holds court while merging with formidable tides to create a scenario both worth watching and experiencing.  A day of carnage and catastrophe can be tempered with clean slides for those in the lucky lane.  Tepid temps, clear skies and no wind are the fore-bearers of good tidings.  What you make of it should be kept private and concealed.

CHANNEL:  Swamped with swell and soaring aquatic levels that have reached their morning peak.  The natural ebb and flow is tilted in no one's favor as all manner of water-craft mix with uncharted experience levels.  Best suited for proners of amateur means.  Look both ways then set your course.  Arm yourself with extreme fortitude.  Mind the solid surfaces and remember pedestrians always have the right of way.

PATCH:
Before we were on our way
Up the ramp of death
I could say that you moved me
In many rich directions, good and bad
The null experience
Piece it together
It showers you with oceans of the past

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience." - Paulo Coelho

Large and in charge NW swell showing signs of discourse and backed by a wind driven S swell of lesser quality.  Currently gales remain slack, the sun is out and things are starting to smooth.  High tide has chaos brewing and spritzing spray where water meets stone.  Those in for the long haul have already departed land with definitive destinations in mind.  Settled weather and dropping tide has others speculating and devising strategies to maximize stoke and minimize damage. The semi-tough stuff is out there for the tackling and all manner of craft can redeem quotients and quantities.

CHANNEL:  Stalwart and steadfast as swell nuggets find possession on already set bars.  Much navigation required to find the promise of perfection with waterlogged conditions due to MAS aqua.  With sunshine the guiding principle you may ultimately find lefts of consequence with eyeball views of feathering ledges that can be attempted and attained.  Slideable presently and the outgoing tide declares a cleaning process in the works.

PATCH: Awash with potential and water levels that require determination to pilot.  Husky helpings of briny significance allow for a palette upon which to ride.  Generally overwhelmed by multi-directional inputs but the proper coordinates will yield rewards which may last through the day.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace." - Dalai Lama

Seeds of change are sown as zephyrs blow unrestrained and horizons remain unsettled and steely grey.  Searchers of stoke must look elsewhere to satisfy the hunger within as the ocean giveth no purchase this morn.  Though temps have risen significantly a great swirling from above is on the verge to let lose and wash everything clean.  Billy don't be a hero.

CHANNEL:  No serenity nor calming elements to report as SE winds roar unabashedly upon water and stone.  A steely resolve will only get you views to a tragedy as shredded masses outnumber shredding hopefuls.  Admit defeat and send the quest in other directions as nothing ventured is nothing gained.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Listening to anything is an act of surrender." - Brian Eno

The hazy gray of the last days hangs heavy over a forgotten hamlet at the early hour. Contemplations and ruminations cast shadows of doubt and wonder in simulcast. Deep in the darkest of hearts, the truth becomes the only visible object on the horizon. A devoted handful take to the stoke mines to see what treasures can be unearthed. This is, quite literally, the calm before the storm....You can kill a revolutionary, but you can never kill the revolution....

CHANNEL:  An uneasy calm rests over the turning away as shadowplay and glorious hues demand attention. The steel pole of resolve sits silently in quiet waters at present. Those seekers? Absent. Satisfaction? Doubtful. An uncertain future? Guaranteed. You don't need a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows....

PATCH: A small gathering of the resolute makes waves and rock proverbial boats in waters smaller than the oracle and charts would presume. Beyond meeting rocks and countdown clocks lies only the four-minute moment of what you seek. Mellow in overall tendencies, yet poised like the cobra. There are remnants of one's soul amongst the breakers this morning, you simply hope they find purchase in the chaos.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"I believe in one thing only, the power of human will." - Joseph Stalin

Confusing vectors and sun reflectors as the chill hangs heavy in these early hours. Though the moments ahead are heavy with promise, that promise will require an intestinal fortitude of import, as all action now is some distance from rocky shores and salt-covered sand. Parking, though not yet at capacity, is certainly in the neighborhood, and will be stopping by unannounced.  At present, shapes that cast shadow appear at irregular intervals, but that matters not to the intrepid souls in various states of undertaking. You don't need a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows....

CHANNEL:  Just when one begins to think the weekend of deals is over, the Channel in nice enough to offer close-outs lefts as a final bargain. As is the custom, these items are being chased by larger crowds than seems necessary, but ye olde channel has learned the game of bait-and-switch, and is offering only deception on markdown. You don't need a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows...

PATCH: Those of the paddle tribe seem to have the advantage currently, as all action is packed into areas that seem miles from shore at first light. Upon closer observation, cargo packets of stoke are being filled with smiles and positivity, as the daunting task of even getting onto the field has kept many staring from the sidelines. Expect the vibes and vortex to continue unabated. You don't need  a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows....

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Money is the string with which a sardonic destiny directs the motive of it's puppets." - W. Somerset Maugham

Rain sprinkles and neoprene wrinkles as the temps struggle to find the Mendoza line on this fine Monday morn. Parking is already approaching zero as all variety of watercraft and waterfowl seek solace and stoke. The tidal vectors have shifted, and will be working in slider's favor, at least in these early hours. I said "I'd love to, if I can find the time"....

CHANNEL:  A half dozen of the suited and booted are making the most out of clean shapes, though there is still a waiting game of some consequence being played. Lefts coming through inside, and even breaking towards the Seadrift encampment, if you are strong of shoulder and have packed a strong constitution.

PATCH: There are views that bring smiles and joy to the heart of all sliders, and this morning's is indeed one of these. As clean as has been observed in quite some time, and slides measured in quad and core strength are the norm. Rushes and fleeting glimpses of body and board find the line-up full, but not yet daunting. Find your line, or don't. But someone's gotta help me dig....

"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." - C.S. Lewis

Cold crisp morning showing temperatures below 50F. The sun provides little heat and the water provides little stoke. We'll fend off the chill with Tapatio.  It is a beautiful day, more than enough people have come and gathered in the water for what looks like the company. Seagulls and seals are not lonely today as the masses pour in.

CHANNEL:  Very little happening in the channel no crowd is seen here leaving lots of room for anyone with a very, very open mind. No surf it seems as the white water rolls in over itself. Do yourself a favor - don't try. Wait.

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it." - Salvador Dali

Crispy morning with frigid temps and arctic landscapes as Fall grabs a foothold.  Illuminated skies of indigo allow for full sunshine to radiate down and cut the chill.  NW winds doing their part to adjust the surf and keep collars up high and hats on heads.  While resplendent to observe the overall beauty it leaves much to be desired for those seeking holiday slides and rides of merit.  Only those with stern demeanor and constitution are braving the elements to don damp neoprene and sally forth.  Of a positive note - the water is significantly warmer than the current air and can be a place of respite and revitalization.

CHANNEL:  A NW swell of adequate integers can find no purchase upon our shores this morning.  Though incoming tide gives the push one seeks the zephyrs blow strong and tear tops off with little care.  Exploratory missions to Seadrift are met with mixed results as wrinkles and bars conspire to taunt and tease.  A taste is all I need to stoke the fires within.  A taste is all you may find today.

PATCH:  I was dressed for success, but success it never comes
And I'm the only one who laughs at your jokes when they are so bad
And your jokes are always bad
But they're not as bad as this

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"A kind heart is a fountain of gladness, making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles." - Washington Irving

Cold black hearts meld with frozen terrain as we search for reasons to be thankful post-feast gorging.  As scintillating light radiates down it burns the frost off and begins the morning thaw.  Looking outside our psyche reveals the truth of the day and while not of legend or lore it does give one hope for minor slides and chilled out rides.  Mighty morning searchers hitch up their pants and make the pilgrimage for the water's edge.  Those with paddles in hand shall fare best initially but them with determined faith and strong shoulders may find aquatic solace as well.

CHANNEL:  With tide pulled back the sand of access helps one forge a path towards inferior spinners with crystalline shards.  A heady NW can find no purchase on the shores of the Channel leaving us with leftovers barely worth the effort to sandwich.  Relish the pure opportunity to imbibe in said seas and give thanks and praise to just be alive.

PATCH:
Well I know the tide will turn, I know the tide will turn...
I know the tide will turn, I know the tide will turn...
I know the tide will turn... I know the tide will turn...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING - WE ARE CLOSED TODAY TO CELEBRATE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.  WE WILL RE-OPEN TOMORROW AT 10AM

Inspirational Quote Of The Day:
"Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance." - Eckhart Tolle

A haze and mist of meaning continues to fade into brilliant sun rays as we gaze unto the heart of darkness this fine morn. Far from revealing any inner truth or even the root of tumult and tension, these gazes only bring heartbreak, as the field of play is flooded. Even those with paddle in hand are crawling from the wreckage, and know that the two-minute warning has come and gone. Though a stargate through which to attempt slides may open as king tides pull themselves back from the seawalls of one's heart, tempered expectations should be in the fore.

CHANNEL:  The golden  sands of summer are but a flickering memory as whitewater crawls beyond limitations and makes itself known to all areas. Though a stubborn duo still seeks stoke, they find largely frustrating vectors and a code that is nigh on impossible to crack.

PATCH:   We can hear the night watchman click his flashlight, ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane...
