Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again." - F Scott Fitzgerald

Over the hills and through the woods to Grandmother's house we go. Under the trees and around the bees into the ocean we row. Calm and moist morning with a certain kind of weather certainly happening today. Easy SE winds at a gentle 2mph. Complete and total annihilation of all things wrong today for all willing participants. It is what it is, and it is what you make it.

CHANNEL: Attention any or all back foot surfers.. fun hats are being passed out at the channel for all the dry bottom surfing queens and the stalling kings. Preferable, potential, potentially, presenting its self punctually on the positive tides. Two janitorial SUPs trying to clean up. Make sure you have your wits about you.

PATCH: Mer mer,mer mer .... mermer Mer mER mer mer.. meR mer mermer... You're a donkey Charlie Brown.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware." - Martin Buber

Ethereal morning with hints of fragility as those in search jump in and on.  Evening on-shores have left us with a bit of disorganized appearance at first glance.  New NW windswell dynamo sends a service call out to early sliders while the steeper SW swell lingers and declines.  Current temp of 50F and maximum sunshine.  Wind levels are low and direction-ally from the NE.  A day for self discovery and possibly a few wave rides as well.

CHANNEL: Beginning low and willing to grow as the tide fills in through the middle morning hours.  Starting to push enough water over the pony wall and allow for inner Mali-Bo rights but the main contingent sits deeper on larger equipment.  A baker's dozen of seekers include the chocolate glazed, old fashioned, multi sprinkles and don't ever forget the cro-nut.  All being tempted by nearly waist high lumps and bumps that are starting to smooth out and glass off.

PATCH: Maybe a bit too steep an angle on the current S swell as only minor bits bop and pop in the early hours.  Still enough wavy gravy to garner a look and lug the log as the crowds are thin and the tranquility thick.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed." - Henrik Ibsen

A renewal without provocation as swells jump and bump.  Modernized activities from both the NW wind-borne and SW ground in a mash up with ESE winds this fine summer morning.  53F and clear skies have already allowed the sun to penetrate.  Incoming tide another factor in the positive column as the added push a residual bonus for those up and on it early.  Find your way and place and take one step out of your comfort zone today.

CHANNEL: Groovy smoothness and warbles that allow for an array of equipment to find a flow.  With the highs not too high and the lows just right, finding the time is now easier than ever.  Waist high or better positivity is available in moderate amounts.  Ferret out a line and follow your heart to reach your desired destination.

PATCH: Walking wild at midnight
Breathing like a panther
Holding hands with my love
Dancing like a master.  Watch me slide.

Daily Surf Report - 6/3/2017

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." - Mark Twain

Good tidings and cheerfulness in abundant quantities as the morning begins.  Unstrapping and unpacking with vehicles dis-gorging equipment and personage.  Lightly overcast and mild at 54F with sunshine and warmer temps soon to follow.  No winds and silky ocean facades.  A hybrid blend of Kentucky Bluegrass and Northern CA NW windswell continues to combine with a shifting but holding S swell.  Morning checkers have their heads on a swivel attempting to define which spot holds the most promise and stoke.

CHANNEL: Incoming tide benefits to the early birds as the extra push propels the Mali-Bo inside right to jump the wall and make an extended run.  Ending on the sand with conveyor belt repetition during selective pulses.  Outside on the Channel bar the peak can be split and crossed with some going left and others heading right.  A reformulation on the inside still allow for others to take their turn and after the tide change all bets are off so roll your dice now.

PATCH: A limited existence but not inconsequential.  New SW swell alignment and a pushed back higher tide has minor waves of merit popping in and out of our vision.  Loggers delight as the slow go in BoBo is back on this morning.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Gratitude is when a memory is stored in the heart and not in the mind." - Lionel Hampton

A day unfolding full of sun rays to warm cocoons and spirits alike.  An unusual plethora of available parking exposes facades unseen in recent memory.  A bit of residual S swell co-mingles with a NW windswell to bring benefits throughout the day and changing tidal scenarios.  Only 54F initial temp with light varying winds not causing a rustle.  Early morning tide push now on the way out and with it goes our first set of daily stoke.

CHANNEL: High tide but not overly fulfilled.  The Mail-BoBo wave machine has been temporarily turned OFF so seek slides on the outside bars.  Logs may languish at first until proper connections get made.  More foam is your friend today as the breakers are pillow soft.

PATCH: A prone predicament as most lay in ripe anticipation only to be thwarted in their attempts to locate suitable propulsion.  Dwindled SW swell and a bit too much water leaves us short on waves but grateful for the opportunity.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too." -Yogi Berra

Silence fills the air and a breeze can be felt on skin uncovered. A chilly start to the day, with fog lingering and no sun exposure as of yet. The temperature is 60F but feels a bit cooler, and summer is only in our imagination this morning. High, early morning tides leave the water empty of human life but some forms still exist.

CHANNEL: Lots of water as of now and little to be seen. Crumbling nothings roll over and fade across the sand bar. Too much liquid for it's liking, and ours too. Keep an eye out, try wait for lower water levels.

PATCH: One has ventured, but his success is unknown. Ankle biters just barely make their way through to the finish line and many don't make it there. Slow and heading low but as of now just a tad too mellow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"We [humans] think we have understood everything. But we have not. We have used everything." - Thomas Berry

A morning where the sound of the ocean breaking onto the shore revives our child-like Heart, the rays of light thawing our half sleeping Bodies and Minds greet us for the new day and the feeling of renewal washing over us as we take our deep breathes in-time with the Ocean, making our Souls smile. Temps to keep you warm throughout the day, with wind starting subtle and raising to a dull drum as time continues in a nonlinear fashion out here. Our SW swell seems to be leaving us shortly as she says goodbye through dropping amplitudes and rising periods, leaving way for a NW windswell to kick through. Look out towards the ocean, the trees, the animals for out there is the joy of Earth.

CHANNEL:  More water, more energy, less people. A good appetite is not required but the remaining swell is pushing through here with a last hooray as the sun joins in to light up the water with colors only nature can create. Dull moments with occasional incoming smiles. There is joy today people. Put out good energies and receive them back.

PATCH:  Pushing past here leaving a bite size snack if you look hard enough. Near, here and yonder are the humans but in-between, away and there seem to be the bursts of energy. Not enough here but for snippets of roll throughs, find it if you can or wait for the change. As of now, I have seen birds reading the energies better, with their flight feathers skimming the waves and soaring to new heights leaving those on the water wondering why they are not so connected.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Someone sees this, Calls a Shrink, Tries to get me Committed For Being too Happy. Listen: this world is the lunatic's sphere, Don't always agree it's real." - Hafiz

With each morning we are born again with ample opportunity to shed inhibition and dive into our fears with an open heart. This morning promises solitude compared to this weekends mass amounts of visitors. Back to the Bo-basics for now - enjoy it while you can for summer is coming. A sunny morning to warm our Body to a light golden glow while our Mind stays open, welcoming the day with zero judgement and ample flexibility.  A NW swell reformed and pushing in, while a low-amplitude / long-period S swell comes out to play sending our Hearts'  singing for joy as Bo's location keeps the wind in-line for a time. Meanwhile, the sound of the ocean sighing as she meets the shore reconnects our Souls in ways some have yet to open up to. Refocus after a long weekend. Reconnect.

CHANNEL:  Depleted and lacking resources - reminding us of how connected our Earth really is. The lip here holds out for a moment, waiting for that last motion of energy to send it over the edge; this too is with meager pump however, for the tip stays and it's arms fan out as a birds' flock in reverse formation. Interconnected. Check-in. Sit at a table with all your entities within.

PATCH:  Opening up way out yonder. Travel past her bones and continue out to where the sun meets the remaining horizontal wall of cumulonimbus - a meeting where the warm air meets the unstable cold front. Paddle to where your sight peters on land, this is where the waves break and the surfer's stoke exists. Enjoy the ride 'for the tide is on the up and out.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Every day holds the possibility of a miracle." - Elizabeth David

Cooling fog to soothe and tamp down the winds.  Keeping the morning steady and ready at 54F with light E winds and a smoothed out ocean.  NW windswell doubles down and refortifies while the SW swell continues to show a long period with a smaller height.  Get in early or while you can as tides again swing low - low and the town is rapidly reaching capacity and getting ready to kick out the jams MF-ers.

CHANNEL:  Approachable in the the early light and dropping tide as the water levels remain above the grade for now.  Little spinner lefts off the Groin bar starting to mix with the outgoing rip and froth.  Over at Seadrift one can see some offshore spray and hear faint hoots that vanish like ghosts in the swirling mists.  Might be worth a look with new NW windswell in play.

PATCH:  Revitalized SW swell revealing just enough of itself to beguile loggers with tip time intentions.  Boneyards not completely out of the question with a slight watery blanket covering.  Shifting paradigms soon to occur as the tide continues to fall.  If winds stay silent regroup and hit it again in the afternoon.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Because you are alive, everything is possible." - Nhat Hanh

Our current cycle remains locked in with coastal cloudiness and extreme low tides to renew the day.  The conditions that prevail usually allow for afternoon sunshine and refueled tides but for now the morning remains tranquil and enlightened.  Sliding options are slim but existent as our NW windswell + SW groundswell remain in moderate amounts.  Allow the day to unfold with tempered enthusiasm for the activities you seek.  55F outside and slight SE winds for now.

CHANNEL:  Again those fishing, SUPs and surfers are in identical totals as low tide benefits one while deterring the other.  Surf perch and striped bass willfully frolic in the shallows as potential shredders paddle towards the horizon in search of adequate depths.  Hold me closer tiny dancer.

PATCH:  Well out past the furthest rocks the journey just begins.  Moderate SW swell showing just enough to entice those chomping at the bit.  An invalidating tide poses no obstacle for the determined or deranged.  Try Wait a few hours and see how the fare changes for the better.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation." - Charles Kettering

The kick off to summer begins in earnest as car campers and road wranglers vie for dwindling space to temporarily call home.  High skies of coastal overcast show promise of leaking through some later sun and the winds that plagued us earlier in the week have gone.  Water levels currently lacking as the tidal cycle swings through its low.  Deflating swells hoping to eek out just a few more drops of juice during the rise.  Let none of these factors deter you from finding your happy place this weekend.

CHANNEL:  Wading fishermen well into the lineup tell the tale without speaking words.  Spinning drainers in less than shallow waters may work if you ride fin-less or bodysurf regularly.  Bide your time as the lows run deep and wait for mas aqua as it is an essential ingredient.

PATCH:  It's a strange pursuit
Darling, I'm dazzled
But you know I'm too Frazzled
It's a strange pursuit
Makin' my mind up
While it lies in little pieces
It's a strange pursuit

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Patience and fortitude conquer all things." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Abated winds and baited breath as we stare into the now with eyes on the future.  A calmness prevails in the early hours as tides hit below low and steadily climb back.  Ruminations and calculations to determine ultimate access and achieve total consciousness.  The S swell angle is steep and deep while the NW windswell fades as they do.  Seek deeper waters or extra slumber for the time is not now but coming.

CHANNEL:  Fade across to reach depths desired and relocate towards Seadrift or beyond.  Here are lefts wielding waist high rides that tantalize and intrigue.  In the Channel and on the Groin we find more sand than salt and the breakers that spin through are short lived and supremely shallow.

PATCH:  Great expanses of slab and pillar are the key focal points this morning.  Navigational skills are required for both entry and exit as surprises which once lurked deep are now exposed.  Those of a paddled tribunal are in and among the meeting rocks in search of deepened meanings and the stray wave to ride.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Define success on your own terms, achieve it by your own rules, and build a life you're proud to live." - Anne Sweeney

Nearly rain as we have drizzle fo shizzle and more than damp discoveries.  Buffeted by stiff S winds the early invitation is less than appealing presently.  As a car disgorges its occupants one can plainly see the faces of joy and realize that stoke comes in many forms and flavors.  To be out in the wild with nary a care and boards and suits on this dreary morning is delight in its purest form.  Still have a hefty NW windswell determined to unload and a real SW swell lingering.  As tides refill, and if the winds die down then we may really have something on our hands.  For now, most concern themselves with hoods up and warm beverages.

CHANNEL:  Depleted of water but not winds as they whip a mighty frothy brew.  Not enough of one and too much of another never is a good mix.  The determined enter without caution while others watch in awe.

PATCH:  Needing a settled demeanor in order to take advantage of the long period swell - now is not the time or place.  Negative tides and positive winds need to reverse their order and hopefully they will.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Here we are, trapped in the amber of the moment. There is no why." - Kurt Vonnegut

It may appear a gloom, for some are fully consumed but there is bloom about so escape from your recovery room. A range of doers and snoozers leaving a healthy pot of yay's and hold-on's but out here there are smiles galore as most everyone has already left the water and gotten their awakening for the moment...or rather they be warming their body before soothing their souls. Tangos of a WNW swell and enduring SSW swell provides a jolly ole' time showing all that warm weather is never needed to play. Light movement in the air and a drift of mist coming to leave and stay.

CHANNEL:  O say can you see that? The early birds have taken their share and will be gone like the wind by the time most of yee open them crusted, sleep-filled eyes. But fear not for there is plenty to go around; getcher fillings before she's full of giving. Now and later, let not the weather in the air deter you, sometimes the dark-days are the ones full of the most gifts.

PATCH: Rumble a' tumblin' crumbling. Disjointed as a finger detached from it's connecting ligaments. Shadows to rolling molars like your own taken over by the damp fog. Humblin' jumbling garble. She seems to be confused...give her a minute to drink her coffee and shake off the morning vibes.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Penetrating so many secrets we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there is sits nevertheless, calmly licking it's chops." - H.L Mencken

A blanket of thick fog encompasses us with a good morning hug, bringing out the tea, coffee and sweaters whilst the faint filament of gold slices through the horizon promising us that nothing is broken beyond repair. Nearly half packed spots combined with weather is but a trick of the mind for the water is full and people are stoked. This hug will not last for long with promises of a lift off and middle-joy temps. Bitty SW swell still on the up-and-coming and is in a meeting with our NW winds that are pushing our way. This is not the meeting of a lifetime but the two are giving some of us a jolly good time. Cancel the fumes, exalt the opportunities, see the unknown...it's time to wake up.

CHANNEL:  Only here is it here and around here. Surfers galore mixing with the bathing birds and the sets roll through while some goodies are purchased with the currency of love, respect and bliss. Smooth for now.

PATCH: Blanketed bliss with a benevolently cheerful state of mind. By golly is it empty - not enough influx and out-flux to pull away from what is not here. Later times may bring later measures but for now the soul is in slumber... the unknown is not grasped but her awakening may bring some conversational flow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The road to success is not a path you find, but a trail you blaze." - Robert Breault

Conceptualized realizations happening in and among a heavy fog.  Reality and fantasy blend and morph in real time and all results feel positive.  Cool and calm this Monday morning with no breath of air and temp of 50F.  The tide pushes forth and a small merger of NW windswell and background S yield returns that satisfy.

CHANNEL:  Either real or imagined the left hander given is silky smooth and pitch perfect.  Incoming tide lining up the Mali-Bo reforms and breakers approximating waist high + offer decent distances to travel to unknown destinations.

PATCH: A SUP brigade with mitosis leanings occupies initially and now migrates south.  Not too sassy but very glassy and a hint of new-ish S swell appears from the mist at random times.  The tides are encouraging and sympathetic to the cause and should only help to enhance the experience.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Magical realism is defined as what happens when a highly detailed, realistic setting is invaded by something too strange to believe." - Gabriel Garcia

Calm glass starting to pass and a quiet and collected group of wanderers wading around in the shallows. I'm seeing minimal texture on the surface with a warming water temperature and warming hearts as the tide is trying to help us out as much as possible. For the intermediate rider take off late and try and milk the speed out of it because this cow is a kicker and the sheep may be out to pasture later today. Midday lows most likely will add mild confusion.

CHANNEL:  Waves all the way on the sand and hiding out of view; there are a few randoms racking up some sitting time with some little thigh cramping sections for the participants knowing where to find them.

PATCH: "Don't worry man, my Dads a Tv repair man. He's got a killer set of tools! I can fix it!" Tidal forces working in our favor and some chill micro-climates to be had and vibe-d over. Take your turn and enjoy the mini magic.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Don't be pushed by your problems.  Be led by your dreams." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

A deviation on the norm as we delve into deeper meanings.  Early dense fog and black crows as a harbinger of joy or doom? Parking full of the overnight sliders that worked it til dark and attempt to resume the stoke.  Visuals are hazy but the buoys, crystals and tea leaves tell the tale.  A measured NW windswell with mini background S filling in the cracks.  ESE light winds and slight texture on the water.  53F with expectations for more after the sun burns through.

CHANNEL:  Rise and shine and shake out the dripping suit.  Mali-BoBo has early roll call for inside rights that find a path to grind along the shallows and reel through the inner Channel.  Favorable and incoming tides are best and just ended so options become limited though not completely scarce.   Outside Channel bar is the next area to explore but as the tides drop so may the selection.  Early evening comeback resumes the required push.

PATCH: Look ahead
But don't mix it up
Baby look ahead
To better days and better ways

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely." - Roald Dahl

Wake and wobble into the day.  Find sure footing and set off on the right path.  If guidance is needed consult the crystals or ask a stranger as they are likely in the know.  Celebrate the sun as it rises and shines early and often.  Peace and quiet you could hear a board drop and rail shatter.  Pay no mind to any distractions and head west to the water's edge.  Center yourself.  Deep breaths.  Notice breakers in the corner of your eye.  Dive in and paddle out.  49F, no winds, small NW swell and even smaller SW.  Log it people.

CHANNEL:  Early morning highs if you crack it before the sun fully materializes.  Plenty of water now as lunchtime feels the drain pain lows.  Just enough dynamic motion to get the juices flowing.  Languishing lefts off the deeper Channel bar that push and chug along at an under waist high stature.  A slight bend in the offering towards Mali-Bo will soon shut down as the tide switches towards low.

PATCH:  Residuals.  Slappers, knee cappers but not enough to encourage ridge clappers as very little stirs the pot this morning.  Beautifully engaged with sunshine and peaceful tidings.  UN-encumbered by significant swell actions.  NovatoDave don't care - he goes with a stoke we all wish we had.  Knee high at best.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"It's what you learn after you know it all that counts." - John Wooden

Radiant gradients prevail as the sun creeps over the hills and illuminates the day.  Tranquility washes over us as first visages come into focus.  A day for internal exploration and possible water excursions.  Only a mid period NW windswell and a germinal SW swell to whet our appetites.  The clarity above can only lead to guidance below as the sun shines brightly and the temps are 48F.  No winds to confound or cloud judgement yet the tides recede moment to moment.

CHANNEL:  As the water levels deplete so do the options as swells of consequence do not currently infiltrate.  A seemingly empty lineup may speak volumes to those short sighted sliders.  The immediate option may not be directly in front of your face but is out there if the fire inside truly burns hot.

PATCH:  If the SW swell matures and proliferates here is where it will best be felt.  For now the tide drains and the energy dissipates - save for a lone paddle-boarder who remains young at heart.  Loggers may have selections here as the day progresses but the even keel appearance holds no excitement currently.
