Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I don't know where I'm going from here, but I can promise it won't be boring." - David Bowie

Star lite sunrise through peaks and valleys as the sun generates energy in which we recharge, rejoice and drink in.  With eyes and hearts wide open, we greet the early bright, excited and fortunate.  A glowing 64 as air temps promise to deliver new highs, continuing our Indian Summer. Combination of wetsuits and swimsuits are top choice for today's fashion.

CHANNEL:  Solid, long-period NW/WNW swell on the radar for all eyes to see.  S swell peaks for select spots but mainly misses in most areas.  Disorganized and dumpy on waist high sets with blinding sun makes catching waves challenging.  Use caution as the churning tide helps keep the approach and disembark difficult.

PATCH:  The playground is open to all kids of all ages.  Many shoots, ladders and slides to be played on.  Know your grade level, it doesn't matter if you are a lefty or a righty.  Just remember, to take turns and don't pick on the Kindergartners.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Most of what we call management consists in making it difficult for people to get their work done. " - Peter Drucker

Sun greets us with rays of warmth and a glare in the eye. Patches of fog linger holding in the mysteries of the night before. Keep your head up, and don't fall back asleep, the day is beginning now. Winding roads and chirping toads keep us on our feet and whip us into shape. There is something happening in the water, something happening alright.  Best or worst we know not, so come on down and find out.

CHANNEL:  Bright reflections deter us combined with lack of water. Not much happening here, water flip flops and rolls over itself in a weak attempt to form. Watch out for later, maybe it will learn to shape by noon.

PATCH: Here ye here ye, here is the place to be. Dodge the slosh and slop for better rides ranging from knee to waist high. No trouble finding rides here. Go way out, or stay near the shore. Be aware of your surroundings and find your ride. Storminess is starting to fade so come and find out where you'll do best.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen." - Michael Jordan

Baby bobcat and hoot owl remind us that we exist in nature's playground - tread lightly please.  NW swell resolving into manageable partitions while something from the S evolves in the background.  Clear and crisp at 47F and no winds in the early hours.  Sun burnished hills already in progress.  Tide swings less of a contentious factor but higher than normal and tricky at times.  Rapidly filling parking options have few prime openings left.  The weekend culminates in a crescendo today.

CHANNEL:  Weakened but still robust swell allowing for other sandbars to actualize with Seadrift finding acceptance.  Inner Groin bar still operational though down a few clicks in size to below waist high.  Outer Channel breakers mis-shapen into portions as this bar needs more sand and some grooming.  Still enough force to get some shorter boards moving but more length will equal more slides today.

PATCH:  Foundational formations with a sturdy substructure is still yielding mostly rights with some size but less length.  The exclusive lefts can be found if a search is engaged and have better form but less frequency.  Enough water to keep it real all day and a steady stream of Log-jammers and Urban Achievers is heading this direction currently.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The smallest deed is better than the greatest intention." - John Burroughs

Swell still booms and seawall looms so double check it before you wreck it.  Welcome to the intersection of 1st and 1st - commonly known as the nexus of the universe.  Crystal prophesies are fulfilled and ALL your friends and neighbors are here already.  NW swell still large and easing but will hold court through the weekend.  Lots of background noise with tidal swings that can both groom or ruin, so understand all the levels.  Chilled out to 44F, no winds with clear, dry skies ahead of us.

CHANNEL:  Early low is the time to go and everyone here must know it.  Cleaned up as swell steadies but mis-appropriated sands have the bars grasping for purchase.  Plenty of drops and flops with seasoned sliders wall-eyeing and calculating.  Size runs the gamut from head high to below.  Plenty on the menu but choose the offerings wisely as some have more flavor than others.

PATCH:  Rise up this morning.  Smiled with the rising sun. Three little birds perch by my doorstep.  Singing sweet songs of melodies pure and true.  Saying: don't worry bout a thing, cause every little thing gonna be alright.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Be brave.  Take risks.  Nothing can substitute experience." - Paul Coelho

Steaming streets and streaming feet as the migration to the water's edge starts early.  NW mega swell as the first fall dispatch is dispensed.  Already heady and will continue growth during the morning.  Overnight storms and associated winds have abated and sky attempting to clear.  A day to test your current equipment and determine if upgrades are required.  Limits will be met and exceeded today - so know or discover yours.

CHANNEL:  Lurching pits if you are willing to commit upon lower tides now on the rise.  Looming lefts finding all serviceable sandbars but size overwhelms at times. Quantity is present but quality rides need to be carefully sought and ridden with abandon.  Size on the upper scale with head high peaks attainable on the drop.  Waves washing in front of the boat ramp as an alternative arena with less attendees.

PATCH:  S swell expires but plenty of W in the new swell to override reefs and flow unimpeded.  An accumulation of energy with a growing logger assembly spread throughout a wide range.  Something for everyone and more than meets the eye.  Stay thirsty my friends.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"To know is to know you know nothing.  That is the meaning of true knowledge." - Confucius

Misted but not twisted and lightly dampening the ground but not spirits.  Initial overcast giving way to partitions of blue with tepid temps of 55F and no winds to swirl.  NW swell backing down to modest means while the S storms ahead and builds momentum.  Tidal swings will have their effects both positive and negative today and most sliders look to be throwing caution to the wind and diving in.

CHANNEL:  Residual roundup of remaining swell has left leaners and in-betweeners as options.  Early morning low gets you easy access but mind the horizontal and vertical pilings along the seawall.  A smooth frontage facing all worthy participants and though the size is down the formations are clean.

PATCH:  Reunited with S swell and showing the love.  A newly steepened angle allows for sets to show and blow while peripheral areas feel the offshoots.  Logger's Delight if you have the right sled.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"It takes less time to do a thing right, than it does to explain why you did it wrong." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A profound depth in the air with swirling fog to obscure the obvious.  Concentrated energies arise and spirited parking lot discussions will go a long way to determining destinations.  No winds to speak of as skies slowly resolve to allow for sun.  Air temp a seasonal 49F while water temp seeks normalcy and finds itself at 54F.  Uranus is at Opposition and a feeling of Fall on both land and sea today.

CHANNEL:  Frothy and feral with a minority drawn to this venue.  A mid-period NW lends itself to the locality and the incoming tide pushes up and up.  Those in the water are temporarily concealed from sight but seem to return unscathed and elated.

PATCH:  Re-purposed rights reaffirm our love affair with the Patch.  Consistent and coherent in the early hours.  Sedated and swamped at lunch.  Settled and sweet in the evening.  Why don't you grab your log and join the activities?

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Life has no limitations, except the ones you make." - Les Brown

Wispy white clouds are painted on this morning's bright blue canvas of crystal clear sky.  The sun is brightly glowing yellow in all her glory as we begin our morning adventure.  Breathing in cool, clean air, we come together in solitude, grateful for life, love and peacefulness.  The ocean is our sanctuary, our special place, which we are so fortunate to call home.

CHANNEL:  The early bird catches the worm in forms of thigh high rides. NW swell moving in along with long-period SSW swell. High fives and smiling faces in between sets as the oceans energy delivers our daily entertainment.  Long pauses in set waves gives us a moment to appreciate our extraordinary surroundings. Air temp at 57 as the glorious sun warms our mind, body and soul.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong." - H.L. Mencken

Bright beams and big dreams reflect off of the water and back on to us. Like a big hug, morning breezes bring us warmth and messy hair. 66F now and rising, as we live to see this clear day. The coast has been a great escape from the smoke for lots of us. As we continue to keep ourselves involved in our community, let the day go as it should, and adjust accordingly.

CHANNEL:  Fluffy and full, too much water at the moment with the tide on it's way up up up. The remaining few still strive to be the last out, while one newcomes go because he is already here. Breezy but not to be an obstacle, for now. Keep an eye on conditions as winds change and water levels drop. Better results come with patience.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The greatest of all mistakes is to do nothing because you think you can only do so little." - Zig Ziglar

Windy and warm as wild weather continues.  Pockets of heavy gusts followed by periods of calm.  Skies and air have thankfully cleared and temp is already up to 70F.  Road debris of fallen foliage is the norm so take the 13 turns nice and easy.  Curious deer and fox recently displaced add another level of care that needs to be taken.  Residual swells still pertain though current tides and tempests make the hunt and seek a bit more involved.

CHANNEL:  All being pushed and pulsated from the W lend credence to rights bearing their way into the Channel mouth.  No real lows and just moderate swings so plan entry and exit strategies in advance.  Textured top coats but not all wind whipped and breakers will come and go with the thigh as our current unit of measure.

PATCH:  Rising tide hoping to push forth the S swell that lingers and lurks below.  Enough energy remains for log rides on high tides but size is diminished and hovers around one's knee.  Still a worthwhile option as far as options go.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"By perseverance the snail reached the ark." - Charles Spurgeon

Smoked valleys with clearing skies well above.  Burnt vapors on chilled breath as temps find the range of 46F.  Just the lightest of NE winds with a foreboding warmth being carried along.  Those seeking moments of calm and clarity find the beach at an attempt for normalcy among the chaos.  NW swell mixture fading but still activated.  SW swell again morphs and modifies while struggling to find purchase.  There is hope on the horizon and it can almost be seen clearly from here.

CHANNEL:  More tide swings hope to bring divergent results on the languishing NW swell.  Pushing mostly from the W and finding the shallow bars very early.  Rights with frequency but not size forge ahead into the Channel.  A peaking deepness may temper these breakers even more but afternoon options are again worth exploration.

PATCH:  A duo does not debate and embarks on an adventure into Neverland.  Steady state surfaces gently undulate with the incoming tide push facilitating the flop.  The buoys say swell is in existence, the eye test tells a differing tale.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Every living faith must have within itself the power of rejuvenation if it is to live." - Mahatma Gandhi

Seemingly settled morning with potential positivity around the next bend.  NW swell holds form while the S shifts and grows in period but not size.  Mid-day tides seek to thwart efforts at stoke with high water levels and meager swings.  Another day of clearing skies and light winds though temp drops to 45F.  A new high pressure system is on the march and will bring another dose of heat and winds this weekend.

CHANNEL:  Early tides yielding developing rides as the incoming tide push elicits inner Channel action.  Pulsating rights just off the Mali-Bo bar have enough water coverage and aspect to allow for new breakers.  A growing gaggle partakes in the red rising sun and re-connects with restorative energy.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise." - Victor Hugo

Smoldering skies again greet the day and our noses know things are still a dire scenario in the North Bay.  Those here at the coast seek a respite and removal from the trauma and may find moments that soothe before a return to reality.  Use your time in nature wisely and realize its true meaning and power to heal.  46F and mostly calm winds.  Clearing horizon now red lit and yielding to blue.

CHANNEL:  Decent dosage as the NW swell grows in shape and form.  Tide timing is crucial for both entry, exit and existence.  Possibly a bit too much water today to allow for breakers of significant consequence but there are foldovers forming.  Thigh high slides are applicable and appreciated and an acute eye may find a hidden gem or two amongst the chaff.

PATCH:  Dregs of displaced swell not nearly noticeable or engaging.  Repeal and replacement will have to wait for the next swell with SW bearings.  For now - flat.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge." - Daniel J. Boorstin

Physical bodies are here while hearts and minds are elsewhere.  We gaze out upon an undarkened horizon hoping for a better today and tomorrow.  Skies above are clear yet the sun still rises fiery red.  Temp of 47F with light NW winds to confound relief efforts.  S swell subsides while NW rejuvenates the juices.  Keep your family and friends close and be ready to take decisive actions.

CHANNEL:  Plenty of W in the undulations pushing forth.  Realigned sandbars still giving mixed messages and middling reviews.  At times a work of cinematic excellence while there are periods of aimless wanderings.  The good ones go waist high or better and deviate towards the right.  The others mingle, merge and mesh together forming less than meets the eye.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"There is a crack in everything.  That is how the light gets in" - Leonard Cohen.

Thick smoke clashing with the marine layer as we continue to send our strength and prayer to our northern friends and family.  With air quality lower than yesterday, the perfume of singe fills the space around us.  We watch as the red sun rises over the hills radiating upon the ocean like a sea of flames. Beautiful luminous colors dance upon the waters surface.  Air temps starting at 52 with promise of warmth taping out at 68 this afternoon.

CHANNEL:  Calm cool and collected.  Fishing boats coming and going are the only ones gliding through the channels current of the diminishing NW swell.  Rumors of S swell murmur on the horizon.  Small shin motions resembling waves slowly turn and churn forward.

PATCH:  One lone disciple searching out their morning baptism.  Like arriving early to a surprise birthday party, while the distinguished guest is fashionably late to arrive.  You wait and wait, until finally the party begins.  Celebrating like a twirling dervish on thigh high rides.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Rising red sun peeking its way through the smoke-colored sky begins this day with an eerie feeling. Hot air full of cool breeze makes contact with profiles, reminding us its fire season. The smell of camp fire in the ozone brings back child hood memories of carefree days. Thoughts of strength, prayer and safety fill our minds as we send them to our NorCal friends and firefighters. NW swell still strong as S swell grows slightly. Warmer air of 58 with pockets of cool.

CHANNEL:  Calm with slight ruffles on the waters surface.  One lone believer catching knee to thigh rides while taking breaks to view the sun through rose colored glasses.  If solitude is what you are searching for the channel is providing.  Incoming tide pushing throughout the day may help the NW swell say hello.

PATCH:  Rights and lefts delivering packages of stoke and bliss to the dozen riders and gliders.  Fun waist and thigh rides and slides are providing for the pack of 8 already in the water.  Bring your favorite log, you will not be disappointed.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth." - Pearl S Buck

Bathed in moonlight and basking in former glory the day unfolds same as it ever was.  Damp ramp and dripping suits hang from every level as a new NW swell seeks to find purchase and the S swell grows yet shifts angles.  Clear skies with no initial winds though overnight gust effects can be seen.  Temp up a few clicks to 48F and parking an early scarcity.  Find it early or later as mid-day tide rise finds heights not optimally suited for stoke.

CHANNEL:  Looks to be a bit wind and tide affected with potential corners to be collected.  Incoming tide push may just yield the answer as NW swell it out there looking for a landing port.  A bit chipped and chopped with a small bout of morning sickness that should soon pass.  CheckHimOut is the birthday boy so give a wide berth and allow him all waves of consequence.

PATCH:  Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down.  Letting the days go by, water flowing underground.  Into the blue again in the silent water.  Under the rocks and stones there is water underground.  And you may ask yourself.  Am I right?  Am I wrong?

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"In the practice of tolerance, one's enemy is the best teacher." - Dalai Lama

Pop tops, flip flops, roof shakers, van dwellers and all of society are up and on it with the early light of day.  All manner of surf vehicle is getting waxed up with hordes of the suited and booted sallying forth.  NW swell looks to be a quick hitter and deliver early blows before fading in the later rounds.  Newer SW surge regrouped, re-angled and ready to step in and finish with a flourish.  44F, clear skies, no winds and a beauty that surrounds and always prevails.  Super Saturday Swell Spectacular continues and nobody beats The Wiz.

CHANNEL:  Still lean but starting to clean on the turning tide.  Less populated and looking to expand its influence in rising waters.  Spinner lefts in the shallows show the potential yet unmet.  Current offerings not entirely enticing but those with a keen sense sit back and wait to later strike like the cobra.

PATCH:  Low tide not a problem as new swells have angled convergence overflowing the reef.  A bit square and fat but delivering waves faces in many places with most portions adequately filling.  More water should clean & tidy up the rough edges to allow for more connectivity and flow.  Sizes for all sliding levels from thigh to chest high and EVERYBODY is already in the water.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Our power comes not from suppressing others but from uplifting them." - Sakyong Mipham

Heavy humanity as the coconut wireless spreads the news far and wide.  New swells from multiple angles contrive and converge to kick off fall festivities.  The tide confounds at both low and high but energy override pulses peaks through.  Beanie time with temps down to 44F and skies crystal clear and blue.  Thankfully no winds and an overall burnished ocean facade up and down the beach.  Civilized behavior early which may not last through the day.

CHANNEL:  Pumps are primed but off to a sputtering start.  Fuel levels seem optimum but the mixture ratio may need some fine tuning to get this jalopy running at top speed.  New NW swell angle might just need a bit more time and tide to fully strut.  Check the afternoon outgoing for improved flow.  Now thigh high + lefts of minor merit.

PATCH:  Feeling it and dealing it with long period S swell emerging from the depths.  Logjammers convocation continuing to climax as the incoming tide allows a fuller reveal.  As large as waist high + well outside with diminishing heights but no less fun as you travel further shoreward.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Open your mind to find the line." - Tommy Guerrero

Dense surroundings and shrouded in mystery.  Deep cover of fog and a time for profound thoughts without meaning.  Newness on the way but some cannot wait and venture into the unknown with high hopes and great expectations.  Heavy air settled at 47F and just a hint of E winds at times.  Something is out there building, building.

CHANNEL:  Low tide slides if there are even any rides.  A duo slips into the mist in search of more than meets the eye.  Swell on the horizon but likely later in the day when tides may peak and visuals will surely improve.  For now the options are unknown but the decision is always yours.  Do or do not.  There is no try.

PATCH:  Embedded in sorrow and a lack of tide and swell.  All factors pointing to the negative presently.   The potential for a new SW surge is written only in the tea leaves which have yet to be read.
