Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"What great thing would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?." - Robert Schuller

A less frenzied morning as foggy skies and mild winds mix with negative tides to create a contemplative situation.  Sun later.  Temp now 53F.  A solid NW swell remains settled in the area yet presently not really enough water to let all the energy in. Pieces and parts will squeak through the narrow angles to offer up a taste of the main course to follow.  Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day but lunch is when everyone may be finally served.

CHANNEL:  Negative tides expose sand islands as water washes over the tops and makes for mini ramps on which to push maximum efforts.  Not enough water currently over the Groin bar but Seadrift seekers have paddled off into the foggy depths in search of gold and glory.  Less water works there and likely worth the effort to explore.  Out in front of the boat ramp lies a few left angled waves that will propel you forward on the longer of boards.  The lineups are thin and occupied only by the daring and desperate this morning.  The tide is on the fill and will allow this area to expand in both wave opportunities and population.  Current wave size is thigh high.
*ps - mind the afternoon rip as tidal suckout will occur.

PATCH:  Low tide slides to be had.  Use all the exposed rocks to find the proper vector and align yourself with the white seal.  Follow his lead over sandy bottoms to reveal micro-slides of smooth faces reaching thigh high in level.  Avoid the boiling boulders as you glide right towards the graffiti wall in search of cross steps and toe tips over.  Waves pop up from the depths to deliver a mild mix that will put a smile on your face while others wait and watch tides fill.  Look for more water to dramatically improve the potential but also look within yourself today and find maximum positivity.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you mad." - Aldous Huxley

Confounding components greet the day as new NW swell of consequence settles in and pulses.  Calm, foggy and serene morning with temps at 52F.  Smooth ocean surface as winds have diminished and puff lightly - if at all.  Low tides keeping things tamped down a bit as more water will be needed for the swell to strut its stuff.  The anticipation is electric and the parking is already thin to none as tea leaf readers consult the cosmics for answers to their burning questions.  There is and shall be surf today and you will have your choice of all spots which are breaking in earnest although not great heights this morning.

CHANNEL:  The boat ramp ramps are delivering lefts for style-masters and toe-tappers with rights for rippers as the heights reach waist high and the destination is unknown.  Still holding form here with short rides but slides to be had in general.  Over in the Channel the incoming tide begins to shift focus from the Groin bar lefts to rights migrating in towards Mali-Bo.  Size shows waist high potential with a few grower waves heading right in direction.   Seadrift likes the steep angle and can handle low water levels so might be worth a quick peek as well.  More water will surely add excitement to the day.

PATCH:  Even with the low water levels waves are percolating through and popping well outside the meeting rock.  Smooth and relatively sizable with waist / chest high waves for the set seeking few.  Inside at the Middle region are more consistent peaks with smooth offerings and meandering rides worth taking.  The Snags may entice but remember the rocks below and give it more time and tide before attempting to conquer.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"If you care enough for a result, you will most certainly attain it." - William James

The tempests blow with certain fury this morning yet bring with them the warm breath of foreign lands.  The thermometer reads a robust 62F though with dust in my eyes I may be deceived.  There is a significant NW swell mix on the buoys and a touch of S energy to combo nicely today.  There are offerings amongst the gales to be sampled and ridden but hold tightly to your board as if a dear loved one today.

CHANNEL:  Ruffled and rippled surfaces yet not whitecapped as in days past.  An incoming tide will play nicely with sheltered areas and I've got Mali-Bo on my mind for a fishing expedition.  For now the region is full of surf casters looking for dinner and small Groin bar lefts wind whipped and frothy at thigh high in size.  Out front has waves of consequence and a bit more size with waist high or better ledges rearing up to allow for drops and a turn or two? A crew back from Seadrift reports success and also that the world is flat.

PATCH:  The Patch holds a few treasures for the patient and earnest.  With a clear mind and solid heart you will find the rides pure and suited to logs of the single-fin variety.  Inside rights hold the most allure and have waist high + capacity and yards of open real estate on which to unfurl.  The incoming tide adds more aquatic resources to the mix yet if the winds don't relent the shapes may take on a tragic persona.  Now it the time.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Such mental haziness is in order, given the delightful vagueness of the terrain." - William T. Vollmann

Though the winds continue, they have relented somewhat from the hearty gales of the past days, and the mercury is rising, so there is reason to rejoice. There look to be slides taken from the shores this fine day, if one tempers one's expectations, and gives in to the notion that the act of simply being in the water and a small part of this communion we share is enough.

CHANNEL: It appears the zephyrs are still in play as we gaze towards the pole. Whitecaps and wind flaps mixed with an alarming lack of other motion are on the menu. Though two daring souls have ventured into the private waters of Seadrift, they gain only isolation, not the slides they seek. Keep an eye towards the future, friends...

PATCH:  Ahhh yes, here's where one's attention should be focused on this fine morn, as a smallish horde has already begun the descent. Deep outside shapes are being enjoyed for what seems like eons, and hollers of approval are heard echoing from paint-covered walls. Again, the wind will attempt to play chess with the shapes, but it appears that sliding may win the day. Not necessarily stoked, but beautiful.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Every reiteration of the idea that nothing matters debases the human spirit." - David Mamet

A howling and bone-chilling wind blows through the boughs as we fall into awareness with the sun. Brisk temps mixed with strewn whitecaps are making for less than ideal sliding currently. There looks to be a stargate for slides and rides as the water retreats and the winds both minimize and change to true offshore, but that celestial window is small on this fine day my friends. Look into the later hours of the morning, and like the cobra, be coiled and ready to strike...

CHANNEL: Sunshine from the ridge top makes for beautiful silhouettes as the top of the knee-high rollers are thrown into the shadows by the high winds. Though a time to reflect on the impermanence of all things, only futility will  be found upon closer inspection. It appears this will be a ocean DMZ as we practice patience and prayer for better shapes.

PATCH:  Bits and bites of hope are found many yards out currently, but they will require a calm and centered breath, as they are few and far between. Shapes are wildly inconsistent, but the most ardent are finding reasons for temporary joy. As mentioned, expect a corridor of stoke to dig through the inside as morning continues, but do not expect this pathway to meander forever. Be in tune with when to arrive, slide, glide, deride, and disappear.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Information networks straddle the world. Nothing remains concealed. But the sheer volume of information dissolves the information. We are unable to take it all in." - Gunter Grass

The sun attempts to break through a heavy cloud cover as if a fever this morning, as we find a mild 55 degrees and light breezes currently. Swirling vectors are bringing mixed messages as we stare into the depths. A baker's dozen of forms attempt slides with various degrees of success and duration, although those with an aligned mind and enough time are gaining slides and smiles. The wind and tide are your foes today, dear friends, so be aware, and if you aren't already in transit, make it so, as the early hours offer the most promise...

CHANNEL: A stubborn bit of SSW in making for inconsistent lefts to the inside, and with some determination, these are being enjoyed. They bring only minimal heights and duration, however. These may be the best conditions of the day, as the receding froth and approaching gusts will make for a heady mix. Be aware and forewarned.

PATCH:  Here is where the action is today, Jackson. As the morning high tide has hidden the rocks and sand that have been so prevalent these last few days. FAR outside is holding solid waist-plus offerings are making the journey worth the effort and burning triceps. Rides of yards not feet are being taken, with faces containing multiple sliders observed and served. Closer to shore, the sets are taking more time, and access is currently casual, making for a bit of a crowd, quite frankly. Again, the tide and wind will work against us even here, although not with the effects had to the left o' the ramp. Get in, and make yourself known.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do." - Isaac Asimov

Absolutely beautiful day ahead of us today starting now. Sunshine glistening over California and sunburns to prove it. Already feeling the heat it feels like with temp at 54F and seemingly rising quick. Great day for shorts, tanks, and logs. Still lots of street parking but as always will fill quickly.  Keep the crystals pointed N for maximum positivity today.

CHANNEL: Low tide and still dropping. Good time to get out, occasionally knee-waist high sets coming in pairs. Definitely needs time, will look better we hope after the tide is finished dropping. Try wait for now.  Surf better mo later.

PATCH:  CAUTION- Rocks exposed. Will keep getting lower throughout the day but as of now, longboards only. Small but about knee high. Long lulls between sets but still may be worth the wait if you're patient. Will fill in later in the day and that's what it needs. Try after a picnic.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"It is neither wealth nor splendor; but tranquility and occupation which give you happiness." - Thomas Jefferson

A declaration of tranquility and calculated calm as we enter the early morning realm here in W Marin.  Clear skies beckon and sunshine responds in all its splendor.  Crispy now at 47F and should rise nicely to mid-warm levels.  A dose of mid period NW swell and dare I say a touch of S in the water today giving everyone something on which to slide.  Full of potential yet lacking in water currently.  Imminent deterioration is probable as tide continues low yet afternoon positive tide shall allow for more expressive ocean conditions.

CHANNEL:  Dropping tide but still enough water remains to eek out a few shallow rides.  There are small lefts and rights off the Groin bar and near the boat ramp that will hold shape but lack size.  Knee / thigh high slappers can be surfed here currently  but may soon disappear as water levels drop to zero shortly.  A bit more swell today gives one pause to consider and contemplate.  Some take the plunge while others wall watch.  Seadrift likes the current atmospheric conditions and is making the most with thigh high rights just a short paddle across the Channel.

PATCH:  Resuscitated with a dose of S swell medicine.  Distributing smooth and fun sized surf that has a congregation of loggers posting up out past the meeting rock.  Size approaching waist high or better as water levels still cover rocks.  The mid-way right will yield long cruising rides which may require proper navigational skills when approaching the inside Snags.  It is all good this morning and still has a few hours left before the water vanishes.  Tide pools will be on the agenda shortly but for now a surfboard ride or two should start your day.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Attitude determines the altitude of life." - Edwin Louis Cole

A preternatural calm is most apparent and the sound of nothing reverberates loudly this wonderful morning.  A sky full of sun and temp at 47F portents positivity and peace today.  Light winds, low tide and minor swell activity have things clamped down tight and surfable waves come at a premium so far.  For now land-based activities may yield more enjoyment than aquatic but as time passes and the tide fills in keep hope alive for improvement of all noted facets.

CHANNEL:  Tide continues to drop and expose beach for walks and sandbars as well.  Lack of swell and no water makes for no waves to ride at this time.  This is not stopping the few stalwart shortboarders in front of the boat ramp trying valiantly to will themselves into ankle slapping shore dumpers - with little success.  Seadrift has more water and slightly better waves if the Channel remains on your To Do list today.  Not much better but size of wave may actually reach knee high - or less.  Time and tide are needed to get this spot close to working.

PATCH:  The way way way outside crew has secured the set waves breaking and dominant at knee high heights.  Those with and without paddles are to be witnessed riding small rights upon low water but getting waves despite the conditions.  One can only surmise that more water will be beneficial here but that will take hours as tide still heads low.   Lower expectations then exceed them today by taking a chance on the Patch.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." - Melody Beattie

A vibrant sun and light E winds brings a contemplative vibe to the coastal hamlet this morning.  Clouds rapidly dissipating and temps eek up towards 48F.  Low tide conditions along with a modest swell are cause for apparent joy as flocks of early morning surfers are frothing for the micro-peelers.  Smooth ocean and sunshine are abundant and though wave heights are less than alarming, a wave can be ridden today.

CHANNEL:  Tide swings low and reveals bottom shapes and unknown islands on which to perch and observe the conditions.  Corgis run free as wet sand dominates the current landscape.  A dose of more water may prove beneficial in the Channel proper but keen observation yields flowing shapes at Seadrift that are worth the effort to obtain.  Thigh high rights are in the offering to be ridden and slidden.  Just out front of the boat ramp an emerging left was seen to break and slowly roll shore bound.  Whether it has enough energy to get a longboard moving is an unanswered question this morning.

PATCH:  If you can get SMALL - no I mean really get small, then there are peaking rights out past the meeting rock that are worth exploring.  Smooth and thigh + is size they allow for cruises of consequential distance and nasal trips and drips.  The low tide navigational obstacles are many and vicious but for the micro human they are no problem to avoid.   Hours must pass before enough water arrives to make this spot most palatable, but for now the rides are there for those that surf with care.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"There is poetry as soon as we realize we possess nothing." - John Cage

A warming smile shines down upon the village this morning as a chill manifests itself as 44 degrees currently. The haze of early morning fog is receding and a beautiful day is only beginning to shine. The storm has passed, the winds are calming, and with a keen eye, shapes for sliding can be had...

CHANNEL: A preternatural calm has fallen upon the channel, where yesterday, only chaos reigned. Though not much of consequence is apparent now, with an aligned spine and a fluid grasp of time, shapes will reveal themselves. As we eek past the current low tide, an increase in water will make for activity worth engaging in. It will not be the best of what the channel is capable of, but it will seem a miracle after the past hours.

PATCH:  The rock O' the meeting beckons with her siren's call once again, my fellow sliders, as consistent lefts are being taken out and romanced currently. There are the standard low tide hazards, of course, and one of the paddle tribe was observed to have formed shape meet angry shoreline just moments ago, so be mindful. Again, our dear patch will benefit from more water in the short-term, but a lack of power will become evident as day grows longer. As of now, there are slides and rides for the taking, why not make one yours?

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Silence is always accurate." - Mark Rothko

A fine rain mixes with wisps of sugary fog as we gaze into a white-capped sea upon first light. Currently 51 with light SSW breezes, though they may not remain light for very long. Mid-morning promises to bring a rare show to the BO with lightning and thunder as an encore. A strong cross wind then closes out the afternoon. A day with warm, strong tea and the collected works of Nietzsche may be advised...

CHANNEL:  An inhospitable wind swell is on tap in ye olde channel, and the brew is bitter. Foam and sand are for dessert, and even the most astute of tarot readers are unable to predict the fortunes of any soul who plunges in with slides in mind.

PATCH:  The same conditions reveal themselves between bits of fog and testy sea fowl as one gazes from atop the wall. The winds are working the Patch into a smoothie without any nutritional content, only danger. This situation looks only to worsen, not improve. Be particularly mindful should you seek solace this fine day, as the sea has larger concerns than your well being...

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"I will spread myself like wings, I am a billion tiny feathers. You have no idea what's happened to me." - Dave Eggers

A chill of consequence falls upon the BO as we find slight breezes and 42 degrees. Though the fog is slowly fading, what it reveals brings only disappointment and despair to those with slides in mind. A stillness has gripped the shoreline, and rocks and pelicans are the most visible shadows this fine morn.  One can hold onto the hope, however desperate, that more water might bring reason to rejoice, but that hope may be hollow, as heavy winds blowing in all the wrong directions look to spoil the afternoon. Enjoy the beauty of our wonderful place in other ways today brothers and sisters.

CHANNEL:  Try as one might, it is almost impossible to make the movement into shapes for sliding, as volume is low, and power even lower. Very little to even attempt to report.

PATCH:  Rocks and sandy shoreline extend many, many yards into the patch as of now. Even the most needy of the tribe of the SUP is absent, which should convey volumes. If any activity is to be enjoyed, it will be here, but it will need more water than is present currently, and the window will be small, as the zephyrs have other plans...

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"When one door is closed, don't you know, another is open." - Bob Marley

Happy Easter to all.  "Lovely" morning here in Bolinas, overcast and sprinkling on the beach with a current temp of 52F. Rain expected throughout the day but has not been seen yet. Good day to bundle up by the fire and eat donuts but conditions not looking ideal to get in the water. Very breezy off shore winds but doesn't seem to be helping the waves resurrect themselves today. Early low tide may need to settle, Try Wait.

CHANNEL:  Flat as an Easter pancake. Rough waters flowing in and no shape comes with. Choppy around the groin pole, needs more water to fill in for conditions to get any better.

PATCH:  Plenty of rocks exposed keeping the lonely few good company. Sets coming in every few minutes. Longboards only. Shin high was the last seen, hasn't been getting bigger than knee.Wait for the tide to fill in the gaps for best bet.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Amazement awaits us at every corner." - James Broughton

Lunar eclipse with blood moon apparitions are a portent of desperate prophecies. You might want to get in some surf while the world still exists.  Now a morning of sunshine bordered by wispy fog as you navigate the peaks and valleys.  NW winds starting to puff and temp is up to 49F degrees for the start of the holiday weekend.  Early low tidal conditions have sand and rocks visible and dominant.  Water starting to fill in  and a new NW swell of consequence has the buoys on alert.  More water and less wind may be cause for significant celebration later today but for now we have typical micro-sliderish conditions to deal with.

CHANNEL:  Knee high or slightly better lefts off the inner Groin bar are having experimental expression sessions as the local RC Surfer rotates 360 and gets overhead tubes on nearly every wave.  Humanoid sized specimens are fairing less well but still catching clean waves with short life spans but fine form.  Over at Seadrift there are rights with crystallized back spray that peel and careen shoreward with surprising clarity.  Mali-Bo has the potential to fire on the incoming tide but needs a bit of time to wake up and feel the positive vibes.

PATCH:  Smooth and borderline flat with low water conditions currently.  Still a wave is being ridden well outside past the exposed meeting rock with heights in the extreme at thigh high or less.  Plenty of real estate on which to paddle with rides being less so in duration and distance.  Still a fine and frisky morning to be alive and out on the ocean so don't let conditions deter a baptismal dip in the salty brine.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Study the past, if you would divine the future." - Confucius

Chill and brisk at 43F degrees yet no winds on which to lay blame.  Clear skies with sunshine effortlessly pouring through.  Looks to be the start of a glorious day.  Tide starting low in the early morning and now on the creep back.  NW windswell sticks around while the SW swell plays out and disappears.  Waves are emerging from the depths of consciousness into the realm of reality.  Find the ones that suit you best and let nature guide you in your endeavors today.

CHANNEL:  Splashed with sunlight and a newly rising tide will set things in motion here today.  Small knee + high lefts are to be witnessed and pursued off the Groin bar with longboards.   Mali-Bo has the ingredients to join the mix if one knows where to line up and the peaks directly out in front of the Boat Ramp continue to break although lacking form and consistency.  Depending on your taste for adventure - this locale may serve you well today.

PATCH:  Textured outside peaks but not with any chop.  A calming notion along with a thigh high + wave has boards paddling far and riding rights with hopes of connections unmet.  A touch of low tide now filling in may put more smiles on faces but there are waves to be had if lacking in variety.  Mind the exposed rocks that litter your entrance to the ocean as they don't play nice with toes and fins.  Enjoy the offerings and serenity of glideable Patch waves.

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Judge of your natural character by what you do in your dreams." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

We find a brisk 44 degrees and a vigorous and furious breeze as we rise with the sun this morning. The temps will increase, but not quite to the glorious nature of the previous days, so be mindful. The wind remains the guiding force, though she is not unleashing the chaos we had feared. Though far from the conditions of magazine covers, there is something to enjoy today, just as long as one tempers one's expectations and has a panther's patience...

CHANNEL:  As was the case yesterday, only the strong will survive and slide in this direction today, although what a slide it can be. Sets are few and far between, but Mali-Bo is providing rare gems, including highly unusual height, all be it with gaps of contemplation in between. If you find yourself in need of some place to shift some mental luggage with slides inter-spliced, the Channel may be the place for you...

PATCH:  Not to put too fine a point on it, but it's a bit of a mess this morning. A small batch of the crowd with paddles is on the far outside, leaving a white-capped forth closer to shore. That being said, stoke is on tap, if you know from where to draught. Make no mistake, friends, it will take time, and a keen eye to find the peaks, but they are there, if you are willing to search. In summary, an epic day? Oh, alas, no my friends. A day to make something beautiful from where others only see chaos? A resounding yes...

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"We're on the cutting edge of reality itself. Right where it turns into a dream." - Denis Johnson

A dense and complex cloud cover is only beginning to give way as we rage against the dying of the swell(with apologies) this morning. An oddly warm 54 degrees and surprising lack of humidity as hooded figures carry logs and eggs towards the concrete and re-bar that are the entrance to a field of broken dreams. Conditions are due to change from one moment to the next today friends, so be mindful and respectful, or you may be served a reminder of exactly who is in charge...

CHANNEL:  Though currently void of sliders, this corner may have been abandoned too soon, as the patient and just amongst us are finding hidden gems. Not the shapes of lore or bar room legend, but merely solid thigh high rollers holding the inside for multiple seconds. This should benefit somewhat as the tide fills in, but as the winds begin to unravel the afternoon, expect merely the chop, flop, and slop...

PATCH:   A pinch of this and a pinch of that to taste, as the ingredients are in the water, but clearly in the hands of an amateur chef, as inconsistency and lack of shape, yet not power, rules the morn. A half-dozen are exploring the depths, with some finding stoke, however temporary. Again, not much height in this region, but with some determination comes a smile. Alas, like all things, change is on the horizon, and the early hours seem the time to make a feast from the scraps, as those provisions may have to sustain you for days. Watch the charts and watch the knots, and get in WHEN you fit in...

Inspirational Crystal Quote Of The Day:
"Time held me green and dying, though I sang in my chains like the sea." - Dylan Thomas

A heady mix of fine mist, streaked sunlight, and a resilient NW swell are to be found upon investigation this morning. A chilly 48 degrees, but with a rising mercury. Parking areas are closing in on capacity, as a small platoon are getting it in before the wind, which is already on it's way and will be a major ingredient in the stew as the hours pass.

CHANNEL:  As we come upon the morning high tide, there is much revelry and rejoicing as conditions are proving enjoyable to the seasoned eye. Though not as consistent as it can be, now is the time to ride, as solid chest high rollers with an enviable shape are being ridden for yards, not feet. Access is rapidly becoming challenging, but worth a little rock to get up on the roll. Get in now if you can, and take a small crowd as the price of admission, as Gaia will not continue to emit such glory as the afternoon progresses.

PATCH:   A surprisingly thin line-up upon early observation, until one takes into account that the rising zephyrs are already beginning to effect the outside of our dear patch. Not showing the beauty she possessed this weekend, there are nonetheless many prizes on the table. Though signs of inconsistency are cracking through the thin veneer of perfection, clearly the wind will play havoc in the coming hours. Know when to strike my friends, for the hour is here.
