Daily Surf Report - 11/22/2016

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light." - Helen Keller

The sea remains in its own state of mind. Behind the scenes it's just taking a small break as the swell readies for holiday festivities. Just another slow Tuesday while the water temp still stands at 57F as winter gets closer. On another note, it is clear and 48F in the morning but soon will be at 57F in the mid afternoon.

CHANNEL: As the body of water is weak and dying the shore break can't  even fold over as there is now a lack of swell and effort. Why not try something new today and have fun and have a great Tuesday with lots to be thankful for.

PATCH: Just a sedate morning as everything is small or smaller. Just too weak to ride as there is no real swell today just another clumsy day in the Patch

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Change is the end result of all true learning." - Leo Buscaglia

Ocean has been chilling out as the wind dies from the storm and sea levels are back to normal as this perfect Monday begins. The breaks are crispy like fried chicken and the power is like a bull pulling a two ton stone - slow but strong as today's waves act much the same. The water temperature is 58F as the air settles at a low 48F. Winds up to 7mph in the early afternoon.  We ride at dawn.

CHANNEL: It's just not its day today as more of a smaller NW swell flushes in.  Still swinging and flinging its way to find solid ground as the Patch takes over as the likely landing spot for now.

PATCH: Just taking over this day as the breaks start off strong.  As the swell builds and rises till it bursts over the lip and off you go. Just enjoy this settled Monday morning as the sun rises to its peek.  Just another great day to start the week with a surf. The sliders ride the mid thigh to chest high swell as the rip current just acts as a conveyor belt for an easy paddle out.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"No man was ever wise by chance." - Lucias Annaeus Seneca

Just the back wash is left from the storm. People that don't fear the ocean get slammed by the shore break as they keep pushing forwards. Every wave brought at them only wants to be ripped back to land. Brownish waters roll through the lands of Bolinas. 58F but feels like 50F with 7mph winds. Ocean temp drops to 57f as it gives you a slight brain freeze

CHANNEL: Storm sweeping everything in its path as it just closes out the swell of the breaks. The water will be churned for the remainder of the day. Some go right, some go left, but some don't go at all, as today might not be the best of days to do what we all love.

PATCH: Taking a break might do you well as the horrific unspeakable stormy conditions takes part in the defective waves approaching. A mid high tide with SW winds blowing right in your face. With most wind swell waves just despicably killing the strength given by the stormy day.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision." - Dalai Lama

Storm cell hits and sits as a welcome respite from the sunshine and warm temps.  Fortified with wind propulsion it brings both new swell and new challenges to tackle.  Amidst the swirling gusts are curling breakers of both mighty and meager stature.  A jambled jumble for sure with pockets of open possibilities and potential pitfalls.  Wet and wooly with a temp of 56F.  Ocean temp a slight drop to 57F.  Game on for those willing to brave the elements.  I don't think the heavy stuff's going to come down for quite a while.

CHANNEL: Storm swept but not bereft of energy and excitement.  Multi-directional waves have somethings going left and others going right.  Gusts that groom combined with those that ruin make for interesting options and limited choices.  Edges, ledges and blown down hedges are the predominant features.

PATCH: Taking less of the brunt of SW winds and possibly and option for higher tide slides.  A bit blustery though a daring trifecta wage a skirmish with the current elements in an effort to conquer and slay waves.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them." - Bruce Lee

Golden morning got me yawning as we unwind, regroup and face a brand new day.  A nod to simpler times and exchanged pleasantries.  Remove aggression and anger and search for the beauty that surrounds.  Find the positive in the moment and release the negative thoughts to drift away and disappear.  Sunglasses and sunscreen are warranted as the day begins brilliantly.  Temp is 44F, skies show not a wisp of cloud and the winds are dead.  NW swell fades and vacates leaving just traces behind and enough for periodic rides.  The tide has just turned and will push back in giving just enough emphasis to forge a few extra slides.

CHANNEL: Paltry rights return but that is all that is offered as the lefts show no love.  Contained cylinders with moderate push weave across the ocean palette as a half dozen bob and bob.  Magnificent morning in many aspects but the wave machine has been currently disabled and is waiting for maintenance.

PATCH: The inner workings of the Snags show the most promise and action though also present the most danger.  Rocks and SUPs currently command this region but as the incoming tide filters in the playing field will become leveled.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye." - H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Beautiful and unburdened morning as the sun causes glints and squints.  Gentle E winds willing a warmth to the 44F chill and offering up grooming tips as well. Still infused with a large NW swell that is seeking entry and looking to set up camp.  A few angles will allow for showings while others thwart and diffuse energy.  Tides again will play a factor in the day as they peak and plunge at times only directed by the moon above.

CHANNEL: Credible rights bearing much water and backed with sound forceA bit of spray gets sunlit into a million crystal droplets of positiveness.  Razor sharp and fast to fold. The picking and choosing requires some selective restraint.  Size is up and chest to shoulder has been observed.  Those less in stature seem to hold shape and form more consistently.

PATCH:
The future is but a question mark
Hangs above my head there in the dark
Can't see for the brightness
Is staring me blind

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us." - Joseph Campbell

The boom the bip.  The boom bip.  As we listen to the lyrical stylings of Mr. QTip.  We find favorable tidings upon waking with the clearest of skies and brisky temp of 45F to get the blood flowing.  No winds and sunshine round out the atmosphere and another hearty NW swell begins to descend.  Not fully flushed but approaching with an upturn noticed and likely to reinforce.  King tides maxing and not relaxing so when opportunity knocks be ready to pounce.

CHANNEL: Resilient rights readily apparent and getting stank eye from the worthy few.  Exuding promise of things to come if all holds true.  Tide a friendly patron for now but will squash and overwhelm by mid-day.  Try Now.  No Wait.

PATCH:  Pleasantly palatable as some West blips slip through the cracks where the light gets in.  Not clearly organized or impressive but enough can be seen to allow for positive speculation.  Those in the know always know where to go.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If it doesn't matter who wins or loses, then why do they keep score." - Vince Lombardi

This day has begun with light sprinkles and no real swells of consequence.  Even though the energy flows from the NW,  the power and the shape is looking sloppy and slow.  Only little ankle high waves today as the dominant feature. As the high tide drops it will become a lake with light winds. Its 58F outside and overcast and 59deg in lake Bolinas

CHANNEL: Minor rip tides are present today due to lack of effort and high and low tides. Maybe try something new today - go on a long walk and enjoy it the most you can.  Save up some energy for the next heavy swell.

PATCH:  Too slow, too mushy, try sleeping in, and relaxing as the slow Tuesday begins. A cup of joe will warm your spirits.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

The days are getting harder to recognize as the fog spoils everything in sight. One can't see past the beach break. Unknown  if good or bad or inbetween. Just to much water on this murkiest of days. Roads are moist as the fog starts to roll out of our way and a clearing trend may be just around the bend. It's 55F and 59deg in the water as all surfers come out steaming like there's no tomorrow. Just another day with a NW swell that still tries to make its way to the shore.

CHANNEL: Too foggy to enjoy, too foggy to see, too foggy to understand what has coming for us in this early morning of days. Just another day at home. Where else would we want to be?

PATCH:  The high tides are just wrecking the lineups as you try to paddle with all your might and can't seem to get that perfect wave. Just straining your energy throwing yourself at the waves. Just another manic Monday.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face." - Victor Hugo

Just another day at sea with the blooming of high tide smashing and destroying the seawall.  People are gazing through the sun trying to figure out which path to take as decisions come hard. The NW swell still trying to break its way through the highest of tides and the danger is lurking right out in the open waiting for its next victim. Temp of 60F, with no winds, but lacking in confidence the shapes the curls the face of the waves are just all falling apart. In the afternoon the water levels are dropping to the negatives.

CHANNEL: Just straining wirh the energy that comes from underneath as the tide shines for another day of mesmerizing moods. Just too much water to have many nice rides to bring out the best in you.

PATCH:  It's sunny it's sunny till the days end as the tides are too high and just spoils the breaks. A bit swirly to catch any diminishing rides.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Problems are not stop signs - they are guidlines." - Robert H. Schuller

Again and with feeling with the new NW swell climbing the top turnbuckle and jumping off.  Electrified activity from all corners and all comers has early parking depleted and social norms ignored.  Looks like an "anything goes" type of day as judged by the collection of boards seen entering and leaving the water.  Some environmental factors to be aware of today: steep and deep high tide just trending to its peak / coastal fog making visuals hazy / temp of 59F / no winds / outgoing tide suck to a negative in the afternoon will put a rip across the waters.  Have fun!!

CHANNEL: Weird and warbled as high tide funk messing with the junk.  Plenty of swellular energy in play coupled with climaxed tide has waters splashing and surfers dashing left and right.  Head swivels are a must to locate the next thrust and find yourself in a place of calm vs. doom.  Bathed in morning fog the viewed parameters show the promise of a desert mirage.

PATCH:
Before we were on our way
Up the ramp of death
I could say that you moved me
In many rich directions, good and bad
The null experience
Piece it together
It showers you with oceans of the past

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow ." - Melody Beattie

Hazy skies meet blazing eyes as the hungry, haggard and hopeful converge.  Trending down but hanging around with NW swell energy implicitly present.  New phase slated to arrive this afternoon to add another does of size to the brew.  Careless peeks will lead to wet sneaks with high tide running the ramp and not holding back.  Temp remains steady at 59F.  Wind does not exist and all efforts will be duly rewarded.

CHANNEL: A downward shift with more West leaves opportunity a window upon which to enter.  Maxed out tides result in slushy rides as too much water spoils the party.  A shorter board crew is embarking on this journey with hopes that the outgoing pull will send a clean up crew in to take care of the mess.  Corners are available and offering a turn or two but not much more is currently apparent.

PATCH: Modest peaks protrude and seem to have the most allure.  Drawing the largest population and for good reason with clean rights going down and popping up.  Willingly waist high and full of water in a good way.  Middles moves the most hearts and well outside seems a paddler's destiny.

CLOSING EARLY - 4PM
In a continued effort to boost team morale we will be having a board meeting in the Channel this afternoon.  Sorry for any inconvenience and normal business hours will resume Friday morning.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Mahatma Gandhi

Dropping but not flopping as NW swell hangs in and holds course.  NE wind tendencies currently non-blowing.  Peaked high tide keeping it soupy and swamped but not a complete deterrent to current stoke seekers.  Temp is 61F and skies are blue and clear.  A general smooth facade with beneficial results once you figure out how to access the waters.  And you thought we wouldn't have any fun.

CHANNEL: Fully engulfed and engaged with much tide and swell.  Energy to spare with no where to dispense has weebles and wobbles along all venues.  Thoughtful and thorough consideration should be given and taken before venturing forth into the great unknown.  Stick to your convictions and never look back.

PATCH: Down a few ticks in size as swell angle moves up to a more Northern degree.  Best utilized but the SUP brigade with extra paddling prowess as high tide teasing but not pleasing yet.  Breakers brew and spew but not under any prescribed guidance.  Lumpy but wanting to work.  Yearning to provide.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"May you live in interesting times." - Chinese proverb

Contrary to popular belief, the sun does rise today and a new day begins with a hope for peace and tranquility.  Heavy ocean rumbles mixed with suitable grumbles as a non-sedentary swell from the NW is again upon us.  Significant in size with the ability to overwhelm.  Contrasted with clear skies, absolutely no wind and a surging temp of 57F makes this truly a Fall day to remember.  Shake off the doldrums.  Jump in to clear you vision and wash away all negativity.  Yank bootstaps.  Gather intestinal fortitude.  Tackle the day and wild surf head on in combative style.

CHANNEL: Thick and wide swaths of oceanic energy pour through at steady intervals only to be met by the adventurous few that have unlocked the secret to entry.  With tides peaked out and high, the vantage points remain soaked and interested parties find higher ground.  Plenty of West in this swell has rights in the Channel working and sizable.  Everything shows signs of life and potential but overall swell has some havoc wreaking tendencies.

PATCH: Bumped, dumped and jumped up swell showing upon open smooth faces in the outside Patch.  Shifty again as direction not optimal but with so much energy poised and pulsating there are clearly waves to be had.  Size ranging up to one's shoulder is not uncommon and currently more are watching and waiting than participating.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Voters don't decide issues, they decide who will decide issues." - George Will

As slow as this Tuesday goes the waves can't find the right footing in this early morning. Possibly later today it will start to find ground and stick the landing. It's nice and warm in the water, about 60 deg, with blue skies above and only light winds.  Outside air temp of 63F and sunny.

CHANNEL: Still a sluggish start to the morning as
the new NW swell pops up. As it should grow tall and loud this evening take some time now. The tides are just too high for this beautiful, crisp, Fall day. Wait until it's low tide and draining.

PATCH: Some small, some big, some weak, some strong, it's just too hard to find the right positioning. To Patchy for my liking. About knee high but too swampy - swirly to get any good long lasting rides.

Daily Surf Report - 11/7/2016

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Courage is found in unlikely places." - J. R. R. Tolkien

A non Morrissey  Monday begins with the water dropping in height and strength. The day must move on with water temp at 59 deg and it's 66F outside with light winds. The NW swell is crumbling to the ground as Monday drains the energy right out of your soul. Go enjoy a nice early breakfast and maybe just maybe you'll have a chance before the sun goes to sleep.

CHANNEL:  A sluggish start to the morning as tides are washing out.  Generally a bit small in size as this beautiful day begins. Sizes of board is a key factor today with fave of wave from knee to waist high.

PATCH: Small light breaks with patches of strength from time to time. Slow go but small as the day goes on not much of a change through out the rest of this nice calm day.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day." - Henry David Thoreau

Hallowed grounds that make no sounds as we find footing on freshly rinsed streets.  Deep pockets of inland fog with the horizon rosy and showing tinted hues of pink.  Temp of 58F and winds remain again silent and watching.  New NW swell resumes pulsations and though time has only been set back 1 hour it feels as if it has stood completely still.  Back to the grind with everyone on the hunt for waves of meaning and consequence.  A crystal conundrum as shape appears shifted or lifted allowing for more but giving less?

CHANNEL:  A bit top-heavy with tide and not likely to show marked change until the late afternoon retreat.  Plenty of water moving around from the Groin bar into the middle Channel and across the depths to the Seadrift confines.  All vessels of choice and skill levels converge as the nexus of the universe is here today.  Size can range, and does, from waist to head high.

PATCHBreakers from the depths unwind well outside and have proportions to allow for lengthy rides.  Upon the middle region there is a flattening and reformation as new waves rise from the ashes like a Phoenix.  Lesser in stature but equal in merriment for those looking to slash and dash rather than cruise.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning." - William Arthur Ward

Heady holding steady as the hits keep on coming.  Bolstered by another NW swell heading our way and filling in later in the day.  The wet and weary begin to pull dripping suits from roof racks and renew the process in search of more stokeSubstantial lineup logjams as most have come to partake.  Overnight parking keeps open spaces to a minimum and a frenzied buzz can be felt in the air.  A return to Fall form as temps drop back down to typical 47F and though skies show swirling mist the sun begins to break through and the winds are currently silent.  Looks like a fun filled festival of Fall surf on tap through the weekend.  Giddy Up!

CHANNEL:
Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Thank you, Simone.

PATCH:
I had a vision last night,
That I was walking on a street of pure gold.
The street that I saw,
Is where I and I should have been,
But not until we stand up, fight for our rights.
Dreadlocks the time is now.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Show respect to all people but grovel to none." - Tecumseh

12' @ 12s from the NW with NE warm winds gently blowing on your neck and whispering in your ear.  Mega swell with enough steam to infiltrate all the nooks and crannies.  Mid to high tides all day has mucho macho water moving around but there is form and EVERYONE is here seeking shelter and sliiiiiides.  Early temp all the way up to 58F and parking was non-existent in the dark.  A cumbered situation that will require sorting and sifting to remain manageable.  Take a ticket. Take a turn.  Take a break.

CHANNEL:

Vibration, sensation
Chatter up and it's an incantation
Revelation, elation
A little patience with the tribulations

PATCH: Shifted angles and flowing tides allows for pulses to penetrate along many differing states.  Unaligned with our typical markers a widespread watery terrain elicits something for everyone and ampleness for all.

Daily Surf Report - 11/3/2016

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings." - Salvador Dali

Again we seek the nourishment to sustain stoke and fuel passions.  As another day of Fall ambition finds footing we are greeted with classic weather conditions.  Blue, clear and 48F outside.  No wind though the capacity to blow NE exists.  Silken ocean surfaces warbled by a new NW swell in evidence.  The parking lot crowd shows the anticipation and fervor as a steady stream meanders to the water's edge.

CHANNEL: A notable upturn as NW swell precursor blips and dips follow their prescribed pathway towards shore.  Now as the tide has ebbed and pushes up we find rights along the Groin bar leading one into the Channel or along the primrose path to Mali-Bo.  Lefts in play not as fully charged or engaged quite yet.  Play the game but don't play the fool.

PATCH: Enough west in the current swell to pique interest and drive demand.  Peaks will protrude, push and pop with enough juice to make logs sing and sway.  Moderate tides will cover all pieces of Gibraltar and allow for mellow slides and "hello" times.
